In an exclusive interview with GetReal Entertainment, Poppy Jennings opens up about the real reason for her departure from Married at First Sight.

Right i don't understand what Luke did to make her hate him, this just makes it look like it was the producers of the show that made here want to leave and like something big is being left out

I feel like in MAFS Australia they intentionally create disfunctional couples to create TV drama... And it must be quite traumatazing for the couples.

Exactly! The experts are essentially actors and the producers are who actually choose the participants to maximise the entertainment/drama
Yep. And, their matching ups are intended for the couple to clash for our own entertainment, for eg. Hayley and David were not a good match-- All they had in common was their fitness. Different backgrounds and upbringings (David coming from a Christian family and Hayley a former drug abuser). These “experts” are nothing but actors

I believe everything she's saying about the producers and marriage counselors because when a show has nothing to hide you don't turn off your comments.
From watching this ... And she said she stayed in the bed with him and this time "nothing happened". Its clear something happened any some point which made her uncomfortable and production covered it up and made it seem like it wasnt a big deal.
I knew there was more to her story, especially when Stacey was away visiting her kids the next week. It wasn’t about her missing her kids.
To everyone that doesn’t understand, she left mainly because the show was quite rude to her and she didn’t like Luke, they had fights and he cheated on his past relationship. They played her leave off of her missing her kids. Now people are hating on her? I honestly don’t know why people aren’t understanding her. She doesn’t deserve all this hate and she is NOT the next Ines. Please don’t hate on Poppy.
I've met someone from a previous series and he said how the producers threaten you, and use the power of editing to make you either look good of bad depending on how much you comply. You're basically a commodity for ratings.

God, thinking about it now it makes absolute sense, while Luke was cooking "trying to make her happy" as it looked on TV she was trying to cope with her situation because she was violated by him. We saw none of that and she still cant speak on it. Her looking checked out must have been SO much pain. I would have been terrified too.
What's the point of this interview. Why's the truth? What did Luke do to offend her? It sounds like she wasn't attracted to him. Just be honest girl!
it's so strange to me that this woman is trying to tell her side of the story and is still being vilified.. do yall really think she would make such a big deal, to the point of leaving, if nothing happened at all? listen to what she's saying and how she's speaking - it is clearly to avoid legal trouble but its VERY obvious what the tone of what happened that made her uncomfortable was. secondly, she's made it very clear the people who run the show did everything in their power to stop her from speaking out and explaining why she was behaving how she was, they are driving a clear narrative here. say what you want about how stupid it was to come on the show with kids, but don't dismiss VERY clear messages because you want to hate her.

She very clearly is demonstrating and communicating that she felt uncomfortable with the way she was treated off camera by MAFS producers. He made me uncomfortable from the beginning tbh and I totally understand not feeling comfortable sleeping in the same bed as a stranger and as someone you don't want to be with or get along with. She has healthy boundaries and knows her value and worth. This all makes perfect sense. And this comment section is such a mess.
The pinned comment literally says "Parts of this video have been edited for legal reasons". Therefore there has been a lot of information intentionally left out. Do not make assumptions until you have all the facts.
It feels like she might have been abused in that relationship or been unsafe in the least. Shame on the producers that let this happen I hope she takes them to court if this is the case.

Even before the marriage I knew that he was not her type at all. And he had cheated on his wife before. I feel for her. She is absolutely right and has a beautiful heart. Bless her.
What I got from this was that she was being pressured by producers to sleep (in the same bed) with him... Saying if she didn't then she would be “the next ines". Along with the whole experience being uncomfortable, she was made to feel like her concerns weren't valid or reasonable.
Reality TV has now become the ammunition for bullying via social media. Look at the beautiful late Caroline Flack - same thing and tragic ending. God I hope these people find the support they need.

His looks. She just wasn't physically attracted to him. Now she tries to imply something innapropriate that took place but she doesn't actually say anything. She just wants to blame something other than his looks, to not appear shallow.
They matched her with someone she didn't want or expect and she had a valid point. At the end of the day she signed up for the show and everything that comes with it. She is far from being Ines. She just never found her match attractive and wasn't willing to go through with the experiment with her match.

This whole video is incredibly uncomfortable and weird. She really doesn’t seem like she wants to be there. I feel bad that she had to sit through it.
This whole show is set up for drama and nastiness....don’t get me wrong, I watch it and I don’t even live in Australia! It’s base level entertainment and I feel guilty that I I lap it up.

Just saw Michel’s interview too. I am boycotting this show next year. I find it really disturbing that they select many people (women in particular) who have issues they can exploit. They put both Poppy and Michel with partners who had previously cheated. Stacy needed a partner who was dependable and mature. I could go on. Good on all the cast for speaking out. I hope it will be cancelled next year. Enough.

If people are judging you based on what they see on television, t's an issue with them, not you. Please don't take negative comments personally - every reality show cast has 'villains', and MAFS producers love to fabricate drama . You've done nothing wrong. Keep your spirits high!

Makes a lot more sense now, it was way more going on than what was shown. All we knew is that Poppy was upset being away from her children. She felt pressured to hang around and the gut feeling she had was making her sick. Good on her for leaving. Luke seemed to be a nice guy so best of luck to him too.

Dee W I totally agree!!! Luke really seemed open and genuine and kind, while she seemed totally fake and completely neurotic. So far the only real reason she’s alluded to is his past infidelity in a relationship he had YEARS AGO!! For goodness sakes people make mistakes, you learn, you grow and move on. Poor Luke shouldn’t be judged and mistreated based on his past. If that is truly why she bolted then Luke dodged a bullet, I couldn’t imagine being chained to such a judgmental, rigid and emotionally unbalanced human being. Base on the episode that I have seen all Poppy did was give Luke the cold shoulder.
And every minute she complained about missing her kids. Ain’t nothing wrong with missing your kids but you knew from the get go that you have to be away from them for some time

Right, well now i have done a whole 360. Poppy described exactly why i couldn’t stand her on the show, and only now do i understand. Even tho that was the case i hate bullying and hearing debilitating gossip about anybody that could easily be false. This video makes perfect sense, the participants had to take direction by producers while filming, even if it went against their own nature. Those producers have much to answer for even if they themselves have an agenda and certain material to score before filming wraps every scene (if that’s not a red flag on a career that has no integrity, i don’t know what is). You’re lovely Poppy and i am a dumbarse for thinking the way you were portrayed on tv and reasons for leaving were your own and I’m glad you got to say so even if it’s not on National t.v.

my mum went on mafs and everything i had to say about her husband didn’t get aired because that wasn’t the storyline that they wanted and they made my mum and her husband out to be the “perfect couple” except distance issues which wasn’t the case at all but they never said i had to be quiet or that i couldn’t say anything nor would they do that all the producers were absolutely lovely. at the end of the day they’re there to make a show they need couples that aren’t going to work out so they will put people together that aren’t going to work out because without the drama the audience wouldn’t be so hooked.

I totally understand how you can get railroaded into acting a certain part, I mean it is a scripted show obviously. The only part that I still don’t grasp is I still feel during the interview Poppy exhibits feelings that indicate she wasn’t in to Luke and that is inevitably how it came across on the show.

Then, the so called experts matched her with someone who cheated on his wife just to remind her of her trauma all over again and intentionally create drama. This is awful. I've always tried to be careful what I say online & have always said to my kids that if you wouldn't say it in front of us (parents) then you shouldn't be typing/saying it.

I'm an American and I can say MAFS America is one of my fave shows... America is just now airing MAFS Aus and i am having a hard time with it... I noticed exactly what Poppy said... I said to my husband even, that it seems as there is lots footage nossing as the don't show much of the behind the scenes with any of the couples but then there are couples they really don't show much of. I feel like MAFS AUS. is extra fake!

I don’t understand how the producers told her she had to stay in a room with him ect ect however every other couple has been in a different room than their spouse and it’s never been a problem
