@@Jacob-cx4vc it’s going better than I anticipated. I can execute in both directions and I’m beating my friends that have played for way longer than me lol
This might sound Petty of me, but the one thing I don't like about the stick, even as someone who's been following its development since it was announced, is that it doesn't have any flair. The original obsidian has LEDs corresponding to your input switch made it just that much cooler than its competition and only $200. Qanba Dragon is a premium Boutique stick and was $400 when it originally retailed. I have yet to find what justifies the Obsidian 2 being $300.
The price could've made sense if they made the USB compartment magnetic, and most definitely, if they used the Gravity parts on this. The Gravity Buttons and the Gravity Lever could've justified this price alongside the native PS5 compatibility.
The Obsidian 2 for that price point should have the Gravity buttons. The Drone and Titan coming with Sanwa is fine but anyone buying in obsidian tier probably wants MX buttons and probably has a set of Sanwas in another stick since it is the standard on lower end sticks. I don't think this one will as loved as the Gen 1
Absolutely love your review. For my personal preference the Obsidian 2 is the best LOOKING current PS5 fight stick when it comes to aesthetics seeing as how black is my favorite color and the rectangle shape as well. At the time of this comment the Obsidian 2 is priced from 280-300 bucks. Even though it looks amazing I dislike not having a detachable cable, dislike the cable being on the left side of the stick and not even having an easy opening panel all at that price point. Cheaper sticks like the Hori Fighting Stick Alpha ($200 ATM) and the Nacon Daija ($250 ATM) are less expensive but have things that the Obsidian 2 doesn't. In my honest opinion, I feel like the Obsidian 2 is a downgrade from the Obsidian 1. Obsidian 1 had left and right LED panels, cable was on the top of the stick with a small compartment, headphone jack was on the bottom, etc.
@@kenshisanki The Hori FS Alpha is a PS5 licensed stick that currently costs $162 including shipping (in my country) which surely has slightly lower quality but is still better designed than this. You said in one of your videos that Qanba's new line up of sticks are priced higher than we expected; because it really is priced way higher than it should. You can say my price expectation is too much and inconsiderate of inflation but you can't change the fact that this is still OVERPRICED. This is almost as bad as the Madcatz TE3 pricing tbh.
@Harvee I absolutely expected at least a 50$ increase from Qanba Obsidian 1 to 2, so yes 100$ is excessive, but saying you wouldn't pay more than 160$ which is less than the cost of the Obsidian 1 is asinine
I paid £322 for my Qanba Dragon and £300 for Obsidian II. The Dragon feels much more premium in your hands. The Obsidian II should be £200 in comparison to what you get with the Dragon. I am beginning to wonder if I should have spent the money on modding my Dragon to be Ps5 native using brooks stuff.
I don't see this as an upgrade compared to the first obsidian, but here it's almost double the price than Obsidian 1, I really don't understand what Qanba is thinking, here in Europe it's sold in Qanba Europe official store for 390€... Don't missunderstand me, it look like a pretty good stick, but again, for the price it's hard to justify. About the little bottom lever cover, I thought you could use the metal tabs of the cover itself as a flat screwdriver to release the balltop? I think i've heard that somewhere, but I may be mistaken.
Great review!! You should do a comparison of the obsidian V1 vs obsidian V2. Nobody has a video like that as of yet. Personally I think the obsidian V1 is a better value.
The Hori Alpha is much better. Every point it does better. Except the build of obsidian 2 might be slightly better. Like better plastic maybe. But at $300 that's among the least obsidian 2 could do. Another plus might be that you can customise the obsidian 2 with more variety of parts because it has more internal vertical space to fit them than Hori Alpha. But the common parts like Sanwa and Seimitsi all fit in Hori Alpha. Other than that the Hori Alpha has better shape, weight, ergonomic design for lap play, more features, better feeling extra buttons and better extra button arrangement. You can easily access and customise the arcade parts and even the art and Hori goes the extra mile to provide you more art for customisation. The cable location and headphone jack location is better on the alpha. The access to the cable compartment is better. Hori alpha also comes with the Hori Hayabusa arcade parts which you can not find separately and some prefer over sanwa. Even if you prefer Sanwa parts, they are easy to find on market. But Qanba and Hori parts can't be found. At that high price Qanba should have given us their Qanba gravity parts. The Hori alpha also has more features like software support that allows you to save four different custom button mapping profiles. You can also use the software to map directional buttons on to the arcade buttons and those of you who are into leverless or are eyeing the cross up arcade stick, you know what that means.
I own a Qanba Obsidian 1 fight stick and although it is not perfect I like it a lot. When the Obsidian 2 came out I was thinking about replacing my QO1 with it's successor the QO2, but after seeing a couple of reviews online I just can't find any big improvements over the QO1 that can justify €360,-!!! which the fight stick retails for here in Europe. In my humble opinion, the QO1 was far better and more premium looking. Moving the 3.5mm headphone jack from the bottom (QO1) to the top is just a bad design choice. The QO2, just like the QO1 still uses 6 small black circle shaped stickers to cover up the screws on the top plate which come off so easily exposing the metal colored Phillips screws. Qanba should have gone high quality black anodized Torx/Allen screws instead. I totally agree with Briar, a detachable lever and quick/easy access panel (like the Victrix Pro) would have made this a worthy successor.

Hi great review. Kinda disappointed with qanba here. It seems that they did not make anything worth the price increase from the original qanba obsidian. Yea I overpaid. No usb port thay I can see, no 🪛 included, and a finger print magnet. My Mayflash F500 elite, Hori Alpha, and 8 bit do seem like better buys. This was suppyto be my "premium" stick. Don't seem like it. Maybe should've gone with that Victrix
It looks cheap and I would spend 300 €/$ for another arcade stick. The side panels look also cheap. Cable management looks flimsy. ☮️
Rather put the $299.99 twords a Victrix
Victrix has a serious problem where it just dies. Very faulty model for $400. People have reported product being DOA or even dying 1-2 months later.
@@WrathofGuldan mines works perfect. Gotta just see for yourself man
@@PassionRevenged The victrix costs 400 dollars and has more input lag than a qanba drone which cost 60....
@@Lolo.13 if you care about the difference in victrix 5ms latency vs drones 3.2…..then yea do your thing. You still have to wrap that cord around that thing. And if you care about latency you’ll wanna get a universal fighting board. Still a harder mod vs just opening up the back with the victrix
Everyone has their own preferences tho. Drones 2 is a great still.
@@PassionRevenged I don't give a damn about the difference in input lag, I'm just saying that when you release the most expensive stick on the market, you have the right to expect an even better controller than on a stick that costs a quarter of the price. Besides, for this price there should be Brook controllers. After you have the right to be satisfied with your purchase that's all I wish you ✌
Rather obsidian 1
I'm disappointed in the design. The first Obsidian is miles better than this. Even the Hori Alpha is not even as nice as the RAP series. What's happening to fightstick designs?
They are just taking advantage of the economic crisis to make as many dollars as possible. I am happy to have invested in the old generation sticks which will be compatible with Ps5 anyway thanks to the dongle brook
@@Lolo.13 Same. I already have 2 Obsidians, 1 Pearl, and a Dragon. Also have 6 different variants of the RAP from Hori. All these new designs worry me with too much plastic. I’m looking to pick up another Dragon for the collection.
This stick is a downgrade, smaller top panel for hands/ changeable art, cheap plastic on the sides that will break and unpractical storage and a new higher cost. Grossly overpriced
victrix>qanba
Salam, I am from Algeria, I want to buy qanba obsidian 2 via Paypal, will you reach me to my address in Algeria or not, thanks
overprice shit…..get urself a Nacon Daija and call it a day….my 2cents😊
cable isnt even replaceable/removable? what a joke
Can this or any other stick play wirelessly with the ps5? Or at least just plug in to the ps5 native controller?
