This is an incredible first series. It helped put some questions to rest and to add more to be answered, which I'm sure you will provide in the upcoming series. Again you have added depth to my ARK experience and I'm grateful as I love the total ARK experience so much. I just got done watching your Monarchy series. I laughed and enjoyed immensely. You are like having an ARK friend along on this amazing journey.
I love ARK lore. It is the best piece of lore ever for me. I knew a lot about it already, but I am glad there is even more to know about. Plus getting everything put in the right sequence is enlightening. Thanks Ned, your channel is really the ultimate ARK lore channel. Keep up the awesome work. I intend to stay with you through the future ARK projects.
Transhuman: So, we're gonna build these giant arks that will come down and purify the land of element afte... Human: Wait, wait, wait. You can purify the land of element? Why don’t you do that, like, right now? Transhuman: Then how would we watch a bunch of grotesque gremlins run around naked on the beach trying to beat some dodos unconscious? Human: Good point.
Another brilliant video series awaits us. This is what's needed. The structure of this video is really good and I absolutely love the lore of Ark. I look forward to seeing the rest Ned
Mate I never knew half of this stuff and I felt like I understood ark lore pretty well I was wrong. love your videos neddy no one and I mean no one has broken down and delivered ark lore in a entertaining and enlightening way can't wait for the rest of the videos to come
Definitely subbing, I need to see the rest of this series! Explained to my friend that ark has an in depth story and he didn't believe me, now I can prove it!
SO GOOD!!! 👍 When I first started playing Ark this past June I had no idea what the premise was or the order in which the arks should be played or if it even mattered. I was SO interested in seeing the worlds I started games on ALL the maps minus Gen 1, simultaneously (still playing them btw and have only officially Ascended The Island; working that SE now)! The explorer notes are obviously the way to understand the story but considering I've been on multiple maps (likely out of order) and collected multiple notes (likely out of order) the story itself quickly lost my interest as it just didn't make sense. On a day I was searching videos about taming, your series popped up on my suggested feed. It was the SE one and I was at that time having a total blast there so I thought I would watch it while I did some grinding. WOW did you change the game for me!! I couldn't get enough of them, before the SE one was even done I had already visited your page, subbed and bookmarked the next one I was going to watch! Your series has LITERALLY told me the entire story of Ark and I am so glad of it! Knowing the lore without having to chase it in some sort of order planetside makes the premise of why I'm there SO much more fun! Thank you for all your hard work and investment of your time! It has improved the game for my husband and myself (who is a long haul truck driver and REALLY doesn't have the time to chase lore)!! I've rewatched the SE epi as I've begun playing with my ascended character there and intend on watching the Ark appropriate video of yours before every Ark coming after this one. SO GOOD, Neddy! SO GOOD!!! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏!!
I remember someone complaining when the tek tier came in that it was becoming a scifi game from it's primitive roots. Even back then I knew ARK was scifi, but watching this video just makes it even more painfully obvious that ARK is and has always been fundamentally scifi.
This is very detailed which I love since I always knew the storyline but not the steps along the way. I just knew earth got destroyed and the arks where made than Rockwell got infected with element and took over the arks and mothership
This is awesome! The events before the arks are something I don't know much about, so it's nice to have a video where it is all summarized. I'd love to see notes from Santiago, Diana, Kazuma, etc during the Element War, but I doubt there are any plans to add notes to Ark 1.
I always thought the arks were a way to train survivors to eventually return to earth and defeat the titans and eliminate all element so everyone can return to earth
After a particular homo deus was able to make some changes within the system, she got survivor(s) to do that very thing, but it wasnt coded into the ARKs originally for that reason.
Hey, I was wondering if you could do a video showing the layout and locations of the buildings you use in your Ark lore videos. I would very much like to recreate some of them.
I see your Halo reference and raise you “The Monolith Monsters” reference. It’s an old film from the black and white era about a meteor containing strange crystals coming from space and crashing on earth. These crystals, when exposed to water start to grow into gargantuan crystals.
I have a theory, remember the moon that's broken when you're on extinction? I think the chunk of meteorite filled with element, could've went into a powerful impact so strong, that it broke the moon, but it weakened its stability and slowed down which it means that the life on earth could've survived from this impact, the size is unknown of the meteorite, but I think it was big enough to break the moon in pieces
Gotta say, when my wife first started playing Ark, I saw very little to interest me. It looked like an advanced version of Minecraft, just with dinosaurs. Ie: an open world game with no goals except what you set for yourself. And it was okay. I've got bad eyesight, and we play on Console, so it was more of a chore to play rather than being fun to play. I enjoyed watching my wife play, and watching online antics like the Monarky, but the game didn't grab my attention. And then I saw your Lore videos, and now the game has a new meaning. Hopefully the single player game keeps working long enough for me to play through the story maps!
The ARKs wouldn't have to worry about that, as they are built to purge Element. Aberration is a different story, but it's obvious why it isn't working.
Did they retcon what Element is? I could have sworn that originally, it was supposed to be a man-made substance, an invention that proved to have incredible potential. Did they retcon it into an alien substance that came to Earth (like C&C's Tiberium) or am I misremembering things?
but now im wondering why we have tek weapons and structures in the game. if they leave traces behind of corruption then why allow them on the island or scorched earth?
The plan to continue training and evolving lifeforms to prepare them to survive in their new home when the ship eventually finds it makes no sense. Because populations adapt to environmental pressures and evolve to fit into ecological niches. How would that be possible if they aren't even present in their final environment? And they're bringing element with them, won't they just seed the new world with the stuff and lose that planet too?
The Genesis Simulation is meant to mimick reality, so yes, they would get throughly trained for anything and everything possible that's ahead of them as if they were in the real world. And while the ship is harboring Element technology yes, it's not going to harm anything. The only reason Element Corruption appeared on Earth was because of the constant use of Tek Superweapons- so the ship is fine.
So why dinosaurs? Assuming they. could’ve picked nonexctinct animals, why’d they choose the dinos? did the element in the earth revive the fossils of them. Even then, wouldn’t other nonextinct animals still exist?
And to answer your question, the dinosaurs were tested in the Genesis Simulation first. They were looking gor a good creature-human combo, and the dinosaurs were perfect. They then were put onto the ARKs. And modern day animals, as in animals from our time? Extinct.
At 5:13 he mentions the quote "to re-create everyone and everything on Earth". They re-created all of Earth's lifeforms, including dinos. That's probably why most of ARK's dinosaurs aren't really like their prehistoric relatives. Also why we have experimental hybrids like Morellatops.
I truly believe if the proper people were involved and the proper budget was approved ark would be actually better than the original Star Wars.. a trilogy based on the 3 Santiagos lol
Been an absolute joy to work on this!! Amazing to finally see 4 years of work start to be shared!

i have over 2000hrs in ARK and I never have bothered to go get all the explorer notes. There's just always so much to do.

spot on.
This is great man keep doing what you do and God Bless
I'd be cool if movie franchises that depict earth as dying were tied into arks story, like Avatar.
Good to see Santiago is from Brazil. It is awesome to ser brazilians doing things like that on ark
This is very detailed which I love since I always knew the storyline but not the steps along the way. I just knew earth got destroyed and the arks where made than Rockwell got infected with element and took over the arks and mothership

Element sounds similar to Tiberium from Command and Conquer Tiberium Wars, very cool type of semi-sentient compound.
So element is just the flood but easier to handle
Oh nice, this'll be helpful!
very informative, thanks
No wonder the lore is so confusing. The lore is all over the place. Lucky we have people like you to put it all into the right order :)
Element zero sounds Tiberium from Command And Conquer Zed alert
This is gonna be interesting

I always wanted to get into the deep lore for the Ark universe
I like the idea that some rando in the Terran Federation was some massive Halo fanboy and probably set the Genesis project off based on it.
Finally!!!
Element sounds a lot like Phazon from Metroid Prime.
Lol, great video, this is accualy what I tought it would be when you relased the photo yesterday
Awesome!
I can't believe that the first 4 ark maps lore was written by a dog
I know right!? Dogs are getting so smart these days.
I have a theory, remember the moon that's broken when you're on extinction? The moon has zero lore significance. The devs just thought it would look mildly badass.
element slushies
yummy
@@NeddyTheNoodle how many slushies do you want?
Your a trained colonist in cryostasis.
The element is the flood

i wonder what element tastes like
me too.
Couldn’t it taste like how you want to taste?
So... Element is essentially Tiberium.... Got it
This is cool. LOL except you should do a story of the development xD LOL
Wait if anything that runs on element helps spread it, aren’t the ARKs and tek gear that survivors use spreaders of corruption?
The ARKs wouldn't have to worry about that, as they are built to purge Element. Aberration is a different story, but it's obvious why it isn't working.
I subbed cuz of this video! Please continue this "ark!"

nowhere in the lore does it say it was made by humans. you may be thinking of another game
G G G G G G G G G Gportal 😁
So real question though: is there any canonical explanation why the Moon was shattered?
nope. None.
@@NeddyTheNoodle weird. Thanks for answering.
but now im wondering why we have tek weapons and structures in the game. if they leave traces behind of corruption then why allow them on the island or scorched earth?
Nice 👍🙂👍
so, element is tiberium?
One of these videos better answer WHY THE F THEY MADE DINOSAURS instead of keeping modern animals!!??
Noted.
I guess the creators were having too much fun while trying to save humanity.
We even have Manticore. At least one of them was a giant nerd lol
....element sounds a WHOOOOOOOLE lot like tiberium...just sayin
Is it just me or is element similar to strange matter

But I wanna know how the Dino’saurs were created in the first place and also what happened to all the modern day animals?
We’re they trying to restart the evolution of our own planets past organisms?
And place it all on a new habitibal earth or perhaps a new planet such as the one we landed on in ark 2
This may be something we should bring up later. Thanks, for the comment!
