He was the most popular one when they first arrived in the US. He says the mothers and kids all loved him. Paul got the teenage girls, John the bookish types and George the thoughtful ones.
If you watch the video called _A Taste of Beatlemania in the '60s_ , two girls were saying to a reporter that Ringo's gorgeous and that he has a beautiful nose. Those girls aren't wrong and I agree with them. Ringo Starr is the only man I'll ever fall in love with a nose like that. 😊
@@michaelcraig9449I thought I was the only one who noticed that! Paul McCartney is also still with us too and he looks like he's in his late 40s going into his 50s.
Check out "Up on Cripple Creek" by "The Band" live. Levon Helm is one of the all time great singing drummers. Ringo was a fan of him too, as they both played together in a band during the 80s
Dude had hand stamina. No wonder he was such a hit with the ladies, keeping a perfect shuffle like that up for 2 and a half minutes (let alone while singing)
The channel Art-of-Guitar had an episode about Ringo. Reportedly, some rock drummer thought Ringo's drumming was very rudimentary (basically that he sucked despite the guy not really knowing any Beatles tunes). The drummer was challenged to duplicate Ringo's shuffle on Act Naturally - he supposedly lasted maybe 30 seconds before fatigue & cramping set in.
I've been drumming around 14 years (in 2 Bands) and I still cannot play a quick half shuffle anyway near as smooth and effortlessly as Ringo does here... Nice playing!
@matthewhaverly3108 I feel your pain Matthew. I love performing Act Naturally but I tend to stiffen up on the last Verse. I call it his hyper shuffle (See Help,)
Buck Owen's original is the superior recording. The lyrics are intentionally slightly off beat. This cover is to methodical. It takes away the whole flavor of the song.
George Harrison said how many Beatles does it take to change a light bulb? His answer is 4. You cannot recreate this phenomenon because it is God's gift! I don't have a favorite Beatle song because there is dozens I listen to for the past 60 years and still believe how incredible it sound's still to this day!
I know! Ringo's been practicing and playing the drums ever since he was young. Something that Pete Best never did when he was young. I'm glad Ringo joined the band and he sang this song because he deserved it, he fits along with the other three, and he naturally has talent. 😎 💖🥁🕶️ ✌️&💗

Snap ! 64 this year as well ! I got all that Beatles drama from my Big Sis. She was so sad when they broke up in 1970.I had to play "When I´m 64" when I woke up on my birthday this year.
I always thought that Ringo was great. It was good to see that the "Neglected Beatle" sang a song about being neglected just like I was back in 1966. Top student, unloved at home and school in second grade. I fought off the sadness and forged ahead. I can see that Sir Paul is backing up his backing up drummer like the classy guy that he was! Karl
Shame on me! I was ignorant about ! I never heard this Canzone/song until few days ago ,I discovered it going digging in videografia! AWSOME & PLEASANT!
The biggest one you probably know he sings lead on is Yellow Submarine. But he sings lead on Octopus's Garden and With A Little Help. I think Don't Pass Me By too. One of his only sole writing credits with the beatles was Octopus's Garden and I think Don't Pass Me By
He did this as far back as the group's first album, 1963's Please Please Me, on which he took the role of lead singer on "Boys," a Shirelles cover. While the band did change a few lyrics, those for the chorus have not.
I cant imagine being able to play in sync with one another with all of that screaming. They really relied on Ringo "I *am* the fucking click track" Starr to guide them all. What an amazing band.
YES looks like someone edited two different visuals together with one audio. The audio sounds like the original performance when he introduced himself saying "here he is all of key & nervous!! Ringo" LOL
He looks so surprised he’s getting so much cheering and it’s so pure

Chris Curtis--the searchers also ,but he was better singer!!🎉
His tempo doesn't change even a tiny bit throughout this whole song.
Paul said he was a metronome.
Passive skill for drummers
He’s a good drummer
He is a living click track. Always was, even in his drinking and drugging days. Amazing talent.

for how surprised, happy and humble Ringo is on stage is the reason why he's my favorite
Great beat ringo and Paul sounds fantastic together
It's what a rhythm section is all about. A song is built on them.

Ringo set down the foundation for the musical house we know as The Beatles.

He was the magic spirit that gave the Beatles their extra spark, whereas poor Pete Best was always going off on his own tangents.
Ringo is the best part of this performance.

I love this song sung by Ringo. I love his voice and Paul’s voice compliments his well.
I think the Beatles had a fun time with this song. ... at least in this performance.😊
damn i can’t even play drums without stopping right away 😭
My dad has this song on an old 45 in his collection. This clip shows the Beatles actually performing the tune. How cool!

in the east LA of 1964 , Ringo was the most famous and favorite of just about everyone.

Not easy to do: holding the drumming tempo the entire song, singing solo and with a backing voice (Paul's), and smiling throughout. Awesome!
2:02 Paul's backing vocals 😍
you can see John turn back to Ringo at the start probably making faces to put him off 😂
maybe that's why he makes that funny face at 0:14
Drumming and singing at the same time .. and doing it well. Ringo had serious talent.
Ringo and Buck Owens ended up doing a duet with this made it up to number 27 on the American charts
In 1989, just after Owens hit it big on Dwight Yoakam's version of "Streets of Bakersfield."
My new favorite song, cant believe the Beatles sang this I thought it was buck owens after seeing fallout the show. This is so dope.
Buck Owens original. The Beatles covered it in 1965
Always loved Ringo. He was my favorite Beatle when I was under 13. Then it became Paul. Still love Ringo.
