He was a great wide-ranging thinker who lacked Darwin's social connections. Co-originator of the theory of evolution by natural selection, naturalist, surveyor, bio-geographer, explorer.. Politically progressive, a good brave modest man with a generous spirit. Opponent of eugenics, concerned with social justice, improving the lives of the poor, climate change, votes for women, conservation (maybe ironically having been a collector), vegetarianism... A man of his time but well ahead of it. He deserves to be much more famous

Great to see Wallace getting some recognition as always.
He may have had the same fundamental idea as Darwin, but his thought developed differently. In particular, Wallace was more appreciative of the limitations of the evolutionary theory when it comes to explaining the emergence of life and the development of consciousness.

Wallace didnt do it alone. He had a local Malay guide named Ali who showed him the Bornean jungle and assisted him all along the way. Ali is the forgotten tale of a forgotten tale of Wallace.

An illustrated book titled " From Chemistry to Life on Earth " will be published towards the end of October describing in significant detail the origin and evolution of the cell including the genetic code and the ribosome. It includes a chemistry formula for molecular natural selection.

He was a real one for letting his friend Darwin get the credit for discovering evolution, unlike Newton and Leibniz fighting for calculus until the end…

It is said Darwin discovered natural selection before wallace, but both independently discovered it … and I’m sure 20 other blokes did too, on this same token: Darwin drew a tree and said the stronger ones contribute to the next generation…
Wallace actually laid the formula down in writing for the first time ever, he saw it through for the first time, ‘God’s steering wheel’…

This was really well done so don't get me wrong but can you really call this animation? It's more like puppetry. Perhaps the "illustrated life of A.C. Wallace."? But it was really excellent and it must have taken forever.

No. C'mon NYT. Darwin and Wallace were colleagues. Darwin and Wallace shared notes. They were coming to the same conclusions at the same time. Sure Darwin got more credit, but this video insinuates Darwin silenced Wallace. Hold yourselves to the higher standard, as we all know you do. 🤦🏻‍♂️
