- As I continue to prepare my lawn to withstand peak summer heat, I'm applying STX DIY from Yard Mastery. The potassium in this product will help the lawn's water intake as well as its tolerance to heat stress.

Do u have anymore standing water in you backyard?
Nope!!! 🙌
@@JimmyLewisMows awesome! Gotta love it when hard work pays off.
Excellent overview of the STX. But most important, it's great to see your experience level growing and with a new spreader, you trusted your gut and went by feel to get the rate dialed in. When you know, you know! Awesome stuff bro.
Awww looks like you like that sippy cup🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Do your feet or legs get any material when using the Spyker or does it throw everything completely forward with no issues? Thanks…
Throws forward. Feet and legs are clean 👍
Great video, I do have a question how often do you have to apply stress x to your lawn? Thanks
I no longer apply stress x as it’s discontinued. But during the summer months I like this product a bunch.

The spyker is a beast.
I love it
Nice...I have 2 bags to go down on July 4th
Spread freedom! 🇺🇸
Your yard is popping! Great video and content! Lets get to 10k!
Thanks, Gary.
Yet another great video! I didn’t know that potassium played a role in water uptake. 🌱👍
Pretty amazing stuff that potassium. Need more of it! 🙂
I just bought the Spyker P20-5010 model, quite an upgrade from the scotts spreaders. Anyone have issues when you get to the last bit of fert to flow out? Any suggestions other than raising the # on the dial?
I've been using that model this year. It's excellent. But yes, getting the last bit of product out is a common struggle with many spreaders. Best way to get it out is to "dance" with the spreader. Push it forward and pull it back to get the product to move. Making the opening bigger helps, too. If there's anything left after that I pick up the spreader and throw anything left across the lawn.
Thanks, thats what I've been doing too
I was looking at this product yesterday. My soil tests came back with low potassium last fall. I added some during winter dormancy. My PH was off for my grass type as well. The product you used also contains sulfur, which helps correct my PH. In fact, it's sulfur source is sulfur sulfate which is preferable to the chlorine based sulfur. Because my lawn is still suffering from iron chlorosis, I know the PH is off. I also know I need to add iron, which this product has. Its perfect for me....except, I have enough fert to get through the season already...but, I might buy it anyway.
Sounds like you've already made up your mind 😉
What I wouldnt give for 50-60s temps. I just did some stress help as well
Well Jimmy, I must say your lawn looks great. Wicked smooth out front. Looking forward to some landscaping in the back. Big boulders maybe.
It's nice to not really have any obstacles. We'll see what we decide to do back there in the future, though.
Another great one thanks buddy
Any coincidence that the calculation for the spreader turned out to be the bag rate?
LAWN GOALS 😍😍😍😍
♥️
If you could only pick one for summer apps (2) would you use XGN 8-1-8 or STX 4-0-25? Loaded question I know haha I’m soon to do app 3 and curious about Milo or one if these options.
IF I could only pick one...based on the apps I put down in spring and fall, I would go with the STX because the N inputs in spring and fall are plenty, and I don't need really any N in summer for kbg, and my soil test says back off on P and push K, so STX will do all that for me, plus it has the bonus goodies in it (sulfur and iron).
Thanks Jimmy! I appreciate your response.
Mmmm Carbon Earth. But be careful on the setter spreading 😆
how is the .12 lbs of N calculated from that?
Application rate is 3lbs of product per 1,000 sq ft. Bag is 4%N. So you multiply 3 x 0.04.
@@JimmyLewisMows That makes sense! Thanks for the layout!
First Australian
Nice! Thanks.
*FIRST!*
🏆 That was a bold move.
This formula gives nothing. Sorry you can be spreading a 250SGN or a 100SGN (putting green size prills) and setting will be widely different. Also those spreaders should be calibrated over time. And finally does it really matter
+/- 5%??? Set it less and do multiple passes on a section, adjust and do the rest.
Sorry that bothered you... Like I said towards the end there, it's just a starting point. Adjustments might be needed as you go. This was my first time ever using the spreader, and my first time ever using that product, so having a decent starting point was very helpful,. So I figured I would share it so others who might be in a similar situation might find it helpful as well, especially since Spyker dial settings don't appear on products.
@@JimmyLewisMows Peace brother. Did not want to sound bad. It may have turned that way. Love your videos. With P you can go wild in the settings and never be wrong. Urea, granular is another game. I needed 3-4 apps to 'dial in' my Earthway and it never matches the bag settings. Using the greekeepr app to register what I throw at what setting.
@@JimmyLewisMows I bought a used Cyclone spreader and it has the same dial. I called up Spyker, they were helpful and they actually said when in doubt, go with a lower setting. I just used it for the first time and it seemed to work fine using their formula.
Great video yard looks great 👍. Thanks
Would you recommend spyker over lesco?
I don't have any experience personally with Lesco spreaders to give an honest opinion, there. I've heard good things about Lesco, and can tell you that I really enjoy my Spyker spreader and would recommend their products.
Great video, what is the distance output on your spreader? I've heard its about 12 feet of coverage . Thanks
Depends on what you’re spreading, but yeah it’s pretty wide spread pattern. I’d say that’s pretty accurate.
Great video, I've been looking at the spiker broadcast spreader also the lesco spreader Have you ever tried lesco broadcast spreader If yes how was it If not are you glad you chose spiker broadcast spreader? Thanks
I haven’t used a Lesco spreader. Hear nothing but good things though.
Hardly tell where you renovated the back corner.
🙌🙌🙌🙌
first..............i think?
Never question it 🙂
Just put some down myself. Fantastic stuff!
Grass looks very good. I was low in k and I applied Two large bags of stress X and it seems to be working well.
Ps: I have a Hoselink, contractors 2 Rake, timemaster, but a Brinley spreader 😀
Nice! I'm sure you probably know this, but Brinley is the parent company of Spyker.
Jimmy Lewis I did not, thanks for the info. I notice no one post settings for Brinley. I usually weigh the amount I want, say 10 pounds for the front yard, set it very low and slowly work my way to opening it more. It works pretty well as you get more familiar with it. I think the stress X will be a hit for your lawn.
Nice music on this one, Jimmy!
Glad you like it!
3:22 some young innovations going on in the background. Throwing mine down this week.
He's always up to something haha
Yard is looking spot on Jimmy!
Thank you.
Just ordered a bag!!!! Thanks for the 411!
I had an old Spyker that I recently retired. I purchased the Agri-Fab giant spreader/possible wheelbarrow. I love how the new machine moves through the lawn. The capacity is great as well, but I hate the settings system. I miss the dial on the Spyker. It is repeatable and easily adjusted.
44th!
What do you recommend for a soil text kit?
jimmylewismows.com/products/soil-test-kit/
Lawn looks great. We're having a stretch of 90's here in NJ this week.
Thanks. Yeah back up to the 90s here, too.
Your kid was stealing the show in the background 😂
Great video Jimmy. Lawn looks amazing !! I’m ordering some right now
Thanks, Scott!
Jealous of those cooler temps your getting.
Wish they would have lasted. Back up in the 90s...lawn is holding strong though.
Good afternoon 😎✌️💪
🖖🦩
Have the same spreader and I love it. Never knew about the dial formula. That is awesome! Great lawn btw! Love the channel
Thank you! Yes I'm very happy to have one. It's been on the wish list for a while now. The formula is nice, but like I said it's good to help with a starting point on the dial. You still might need to adjust it a bit as you apply the product depending on how it comes out. But when you've never used the spreader or even the product, I would have felt way more lost without that formula!
