Duncan Browne was a genius. It's tempting to compare him favourably with Nick Drake - he brought a similar kind of virtuosity to the nylon-string guitar that Drake brought to the stelel-string - but Browne had other unique skills, for example his wonderful choral arrangements.
I totally agree George. Beautiful guitar playing and quite unique the way he sings his songs with lyrics that make you want to listen. 'Journey' was wonderful of course, but there was more to Duncan Browne than this single would even begin to suggest. No less than 'David'Bowie' knew this of course. Should have been an absolute mega star in my opinion! A terrible and very sad loss to music, yes, of course...but also in every other human respect.
I hadn’t imagined this film existed. So great to see him playing after all these years. ‘Journey’ always takes me back to a magical summer in ‘72. One of his best songs is the b-side, ‘In A Mist’.
My all time favorite LP was and still is Give Me Take You; however, his follow up LP was phenomenal as well. Great to finally be able to see one of his live performances; so perfect!. Are there any others out there?
we worked hard with might and mystique shoveling everything into the middle of next week we shared our money, bounced our checks buying expensive meals for the opposite sex we seriously planned our wildest dreams but failure kept clinging to all our schemes

As good if not a better guitarist than the Yardbirds stable of Clapton, Beck and Page and he may also have influenced Knopfler with his picking style on electric. To put this another way they could not have played this. I suggest if you like Duncan's style on electric solo and with Metro ua-cam.com/video/3aWKKDo-fd0/v-deo.html
He doesn’t even seem real, just a magical fairy tale of a person.
Beautiful words Alice.
He went too soon 😢
Life is fickle
Best wishes from an oldie
It's hard to believe 2023 will be 30 years since his untimely passing. I visited his grave in 2022 to pay my respects.

This is perfection from a great artist gone too young.
He left us far too early--what a talent.
Great guitar player, great composer, genius!
He was a lovely guy - much missed
What a treasure this is! I had no idea such great footage of Duncan's early work existed. Sublime.
sorely missed, unique talent
Amazing diamond in the rough sorely missed. R.I.P.
A dearly loved friend P. & A.F. now only P. Remember you both with forever love
Such incredible footage... This album is pure magic, thank you for uploading this gem.
Absolutely brilliant have all his recordings.

Never heard Duncan before. Something i clearly need to rectify.
Listen to ‘The Wild Places’. Magic.
i saw him in 1971 at the queen elizabeth hall london supporting sandy denny, and was very good,as he is here.

"Give Me Take You" has to rank among the greatest albums of all time.
Wow! Blown away. Deserves mass recognition, compares with Nick Drake.

Same Duncan Browne that was in Metro with Peter Godwin e.g. "Criminal World"
Does anyone have the lyrics of 'My Old Friends'?
Wow! Didn't know this existed.

Ethereal
The guitar playing on the first track reminds me of 'The Stranger' by Leonard Cohen....even if it doesn't particularly sound like it.
I don't know much about Duncan Browne other than Criminal World..did he have kids
a son
Yes, a son called Max.
in this video the narrator says he has a daugther in france (ua-cam.com/video/J8E8EyoMaqs/v-deo.html)

Anyone recognize the guitar brand?
Might be a Yamaha, read that info somewhere in his bio.

@@MrWimMichels nothing is sure, until we see the inside of the guitar
