Graham Nash (of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young) wrote this song in the 70s. Iranian pop star (and drummer) Sharam Shabpareh recorded this cover in Tehran and introduced it to a whole new audience in pre-revolution Iran. Incredibly nostalgic. Shahram has always been cool and a really good guy. National treasure for us ex-pats.
Do you know when was this version originally recorded, and the album it was originally in? I read something about the song being from 1974... very difficult to find any I fo though... Absolutely buzzing with this cover by Shahram!
for that to actually be the case they'd have to actually list the original artists and bands and songs or scores they sample, which they don't they just act like the shit they STOLE cause they're too talentless or lazy to play it themselves is theirs now.
[Verse 1] One day a friend took me aside, said, "I have to leave ya For buying something from a friend, they say I've done wrong For protecting the name of a man, they say I'll have to leave ya So now that I'm bidding you farewell for much too long" [Chorus] And here's a song to sing for every man inside If he can hear you sing, it's an open door There's not a rich man there who couldn't pay his way And buy the freedom that's a high price for the poor [Post-Chorus] Kids in Texas smoking grass, ten year sentence comes to pass "Misdemeanor in Ann Arbor", ask the judges, "Why?" [Verse 2] Another friend said to the kid, "I'm gonna have to leave ya For selling something to the man, guess I did wrong Know I did the best I could I'm gonna have to leave ya So now I'm kissing you farewell for much too long" [Chorus] And here's a song to sing for every man inside If he can hear you sing, it's an open door There's not a rich man there who couldn't pay his way And buy the freedom that's a high price for the poor
Bruh...the sampling of this track for Nas White Label is godamn epic-the horn embellishments make the production on the song elevate on another level. Nas bars are sparse where they need to be, pungent in areas and grotesquely poetic in others. And this song has the potential to be in the elusive radio friendly banger catalogue that Nas has amassed over the years. Tempo is relatable to the masses. His work is usually over most people’s heads-sadly, but this one....overall people will get it and be entertained.
I feel you. It is beautiful. The iranian take on soul. Makes me want to go digging. This is why i Love HIP HOP.. it introduces me to the world of music
@@currents._2062 Sampling is a pathetic little trick used by people who don't actually have the musical skills to play a certain progression or piece themselves, so they have to cut and paste it and then they're somehow proud of their lack of talent, that's the real sadness here.
@@deathbunny3048 Not gonna cap for these newer wannabe artists, but foh with that overgeneralized bullshit. There are producers out here who actually use music theory to take something old and create something new. Think before you speak next time.

Abdullah HD all of u are wrong. The majority of the samples Kanye used during his 2018 run were from Numero Group and Now Again Records, both labels reissue very obscure music, especially soul/funk. That’s how he found this.
Who else came here to this beautifulisiousness because of "White Label" by Nas? 💥🔥🔥🔥
