Very well done bro, I'm so close to diamond with Alex now and I keep feeling like I'm missing something from my game and this series has helped a lot. I definitely need to work on my neutral play.
Thank you for that excellent footsies example against Karin. I find that as Alex, when you're on a roll, you'd pretty much just steamroll your opponent. But playing defensively as Alex is pretty hard, especially against characters like Akuma, Karin and Cammy, and I'm glad you showed a real match example which was no-frills and can be learnt by anyone as long as you resist the urge to push buttons at every opportunity. The stuff that you taught in this video, I realize I actually know some of them already, like his meaty setups. The problem is I'm still doing stupid stuff like trying to punish cross-ups with his crouching HP, or missing plenty of Power Bomb opportunities when I was in range and opponent wasn't doing anything about it. But what you've been sharing (along with watching your replays) had been helpful, and my win rate with Alex has been better.
tcchip I hope more episodes help you out, man! Yes if an opponent jumps over you for the cross-up, just simply block. It's the best option you have, unless if you're a god and react quick enough to dash under
Thanks! Your videos have been a godsend in improving my game, and just from the last two tutorial videos alone, my win rate had gone up exponentially. That match versus NuckleDu was especially useful. From my personal experience, a competent Guile is about the hardest character for me to face as Alex, and you really made it clear that it takes a lot of patience and discipline to beat Guile, not to mention a willingness to take some hits. It was also from that match that I learnt the trick of using an EX Air Knee Smash to get out of a tough spot, or to bring myself behind opponent at a distance to setup a Hyper Bomb when he's expecting a stomp or headbutt. In a future video, I hope you can break down some of the advanced tricks like canceling into a stomp from standing MP, or Slash Elbow from Lariat.
Do season 4 tricks and tips like this as well. Would be very helpful. A lot more people are using him now. And it would be nice to see you shine. Also try streaming on UA-cam
So you believe not having control over a match will not get you to gold? Knowing when to press buttons and look/capitalizing on opportunities are HUGE. Why would you argue not?
I just discovered your channel yesterday, and I have been enjoying all of your guides so far! You have done an excellent job! I have a question regarding the end of this video (the gameplay clip). In that match that you showed, in which you kind of slowly backed off and poked at your opponent's attempts to approach you...What would be the counter against you playing in that way?
IDK why at least one of Alex's DPs don't have any invincibility on startup and v trigger 1 starts on the 2nd frame. This is sometimes the downside of picking him up. He's one of the few characters that you can bully because Capcom won't give him any proper tweaks.
Hei man, nice setups! I'm still struggling with some situations. Almost 99% of those setups are working on if your our adversary made a quickrise. However, when it does a backrise there are at least other 5 frames to cover (backrise is slowser than quickrise), right? I'm trying to cover some situations on corner (I've created some setups to catch both rises), but I need to practice more.
Eric Braga Yes! For backrolling opponents, it's the same concept except you must delay the button by a second or half a second I believe. Same principle.
For an ultra bronze player like myself I don’t see many people quick rising. I have the timing of that not really down myself. Are there any Meaty setups for that? Now I just eyeball my Lariat to hit meaty but this isn’t really optimal and sometimes I get grabbed.
Marnix de Wit If your opponent delays his wake up, depending on the situation i usually time it by doing 2 cr. jabs and then doing lariat. So it would look like this : Lariat > st.mp > Ex chop > dash > lariat > 2 cr. jabs > lariat
Roundabout at the start of the video? I think I’ve found my new favorite channel for SF.
I was watching this while playing, and when it get to the part where you said to play patiently, I put it into practice and one immediately
I never knew what meaties even was and why I was losing to people mashing on wake-up. Thanks for clearing it up
Alright, I've been waiting for this!!
As a trash Alex player I already know this is going to help me so much.
Came via your win over Du. Great content, looking forward to the rest.

I like Alex bc I’ve always used charge characters(like Bison and Guile) but Ive been getting into grapplers lately and he’s cool bc he’s a mix of both
Roundabout? I see you.

Thanks dude! I really appreciate it~
Man! Ive watched both episodes again! That is always something to recap and improve! (Btw, where is Ep 3)? :D Thanks a lot anyway :D
Fábio Pagliarde It's coming! Work in progress, I want to make sure I'm not missing any important factors.
Thanks for the Response! And thanks for those videos! :D I help us a lot! When it comes out, you can count on my thumbs up :D
Good stuff very helpful thank you 👊🕹😎
love this video but I am having so much trouble with close range anti air situations

For some reason, I now think I need to learn my buttons...

nice man #alexnation
Uhhhhhh....how do you back roll lol
Press 2 kick buttons or press/ flick your pad or stick back like you're going to block except do it as soon as you land on the ground
