In fact, Dance Moms was only supposed to be a 6 episode documentary special. But the network liked it so much the network decided to make it into a series before it even aired. So the mothers were suddenly presented with these contracts and told to sign or don't be on the show. Unfortunately, they signed without consulting a lawyer, so they ended up really not making much in that first season. Talk about a quick lesson on what not to do!😂

So they actually only got like 250 to 300 per episode. In fact the sit in is actually them protesting their wages and contracts with the show- not cause they wanted kelly and her kids back
