I have owned this machine for quite some time now, and I really like it. The fog lays low, until people start mixing it up on the dance floor. Then it rises. However, it does not rise nearly as quickly as a regular fog machine, and that makes it ideal for low ceiling venues. Used minimally it provides an excellent addition for lights and lasers. In the video I noticed fog coming out from under the cover. Either Mike did not have the cover cranked down all the way or the unit was defective. My unit only shoots fog out of the vent at the bottom of the machine. A helpful hint for future owners of this machine...drain the water through the front vent by tipping the machine forward at the end of the night into a bucket or cooler. It is quick and easy and doesn't harm the machine.

I have one of these. Yes, dry ice is much better than using regular ice. The dry ice allows it to stay lower longer. The regular ice only keeps it low briefly, then it's up in the air like a regular fog machine.

Fun video. That was Kool! It's 400W so it takes long to cycle. I have a video of a little Walmart Gemmy that uses a similar design on a much smaller scale that did that good. But a really small ice chamber. It did prove to me that fog chilling could work. I use the DIY trash can. I'm going to try a Chauvet 670W Fogger and Froggy's Fog juice outdoors this year.

It would spread too fast. Instead of ground fog, you would smoke out the dance floor.

    Hey, thanks for your comment....
Actually the instructions tell you to use regular ice, BUT, you would get an even better result if you used dry ice or both at the same time!
    I'll try it out!

It says right on the box right in plain sight. Uses standard fog fluid with ice cubes.

this is just a suggestion (I have never tried this) for the chauvet nimbus your suppsot to crush the ice before putting it into the machine so the water gets more surface area on the dry ice. What if before you put this ice into the machine, you put it in a blender and set it to ice crush and poured the crushed up ice into the machine. Because its crushed up ice there is more of a surface area for the fog to touch the ice meaning that the fog may come out colder and stay lower to the ground longer. But crushed up ice would probably melt faster.

It's a cool machine unfortunately most venues don't allow conventional fog machine due to setting off cheap smoke alarms. dry ice fog in those cases is the way to go but none the less this machine for like a gym activity or outdoors for old hallows eve is awesome!! thank for the videos their are always fun to watch Mike!

It does not run off of just ice. You have to have fog juice and if all goes through the eyes which makes it low to the ground

  • @aspinwallstudios

Mike, I'm sure you know this, but using fast dissipating fog gives the best effect with these machines. That way the fog will dissipate before it starts to rise. I use two of these to take care of the warming cycle...putting some LED Par 64s pointed inwards on the ground looks cool in this stuff!

i was thinking about using 2 of these units for that exact reason. Are you still using them or have u upgraded since then?

  • @ccawraps
    @ccawraps 11 років тому

    Mike,
I have one and with low lying fog and dry ice it the fog stays around ankle height. With regular ice I have the same effect as you got which is why I bought it. I wanted a fog that will come out low and get kicked up and dispersed by the people on the dance floor just to enhance the lights to get a Hazer effect without the expense and without setting off the fire alarms like a lot of standard foggers can do.
Forget using it with any kind of draft since it's only 400 watts.

I just tested one of these last night and I was blown away by the quality of its design and construction. If you don't have access to dry ice, I found that reusable gel packs (for sports injuries, keeping food cool in coolers, etc.) are almost as good as dry ice. Typically, they maintain 0°F or less (in your freezer) and are therefore colder than wet ice, and they don't need a drain because they don't melt. One other note... unlike you, I had no problem removing and replacing the drain tube {:-) I've worked in special effects for 30+ years and this is the best unit that I've ever seen... especially for the price.

It's a Awsome fog machine but you have to watch out the hose going to the fog container
is a little long so if it got to much slack inside of the machine it will melt i found out the hard way lol. so i had redo my hose and now it work again

    Hi Tyler,
To do it like a pro, you would need a $300.00 machine, but, you can get a good effect by using any good 400 watt fog machine and put a large window fan next to the fogger to blow the fog around...
    Thanks again, Mike

Bought unit even a gallon of their juice. Used once with 10 lbs of dry ice, did not stay low, fogged whole venue. Cleaned, attempted to use next week and no nothing. Injected a quart of fog fluid through intake hose and still nothing. ADJ REFUSED to send me shipping label back to them, for repair. $38.00 to ship back!!!

DJ Vortical because dry ice sublimation isn't fog. It is evaporation , and dissipates quickly. Fog fluid is and atomized vapor and takes a considerable time to dissipate, especially indoors.
