Very crisp and clear explanation. What would happen when a car traveling in 5th gear at a decent speed, say 70 Kmph, and the driver accidentally changed the gear to reverse gear? Would this dramatically reduce the car speed? If yes, can this be done in brake failure situations? Or would it cause severe damage to the gear assembly?
Reverse gear dont operate when vehicle is in motion. you always start Reverse gear when car is in stationary/rest. There is a mechanism in gearbox that reverse gear will only work if car is in rest/stationary position only

While shifting gears, releasing the clutch pedal hold at bite point would depend on the vibration level, noise down and up,rpm drop and rise, which confirm the gear change. Holding duration, the point when leg can be moved to dead pedal are salient points. Need your view on this?
