  • Landing an airplane is by far one of the most difficult tasks when learning to fly. As a professional pilot and former CFI with nearly 2,000 hours of dual instruction given, this breakdown of how to land an airplane shows intentional slips, roundout/flare, and touchdown.
What about landing in crosswinds? Crosswind corrections are shown with a crosswind from the right throughout the video. The crab method, side slip, and forward slips are demonstrated to show how to counteract the effects of a crosswind, along with how to lose altitude without increasing airspeed.
Due to a sim issue, the flaps became stuck which brought up a situation for learning. Considerations are discussed in the event of the same situation happening while flying in real life.
If interested in aviation podcasts, please take a listen to The Corporate Pilot Guys Podcast which I am a co-host of. Myself and the other co-host are both professional pilot who have currently fly business jets and we've both flown various types of jet aircraft over the last 20 years. We talk about current events, failures, training, written tests, and so much more. Episodes also include ATC tips given by Air Traffic Controllers as well as aircraft buying tips from an aircraft broker (McGill Aviation).

Thanks, these short "task specific" videos are great. We can have the sim running and watch the video at the same time and PRACTICE! !! !!!

I never thought of that but that definitely would work with this video. Any other “task specific” suggestions are welcome.

Maybe something on: 530/430, G1000, how to adjust mixture etc. Not in depth for the whole unit, just task specific IE: what certain buttons do, quick VOR flight etc. Thanks for posting@@thecorporatepilotdad

I use to teach for flare attitude on a long runway to hold the top of the cowling just above the end of the runway, if I had a student that was having problems seeing the attitude I would find a very long runway fly over the runway and hold that attitude in slow flight. Just another technique.😁🛫

I did the same thing at a safe altitude. My technique in a 172 was to put the top of the cowling on the horizon. Landings can be frustrating for students and the instructors!

Nice video - why does the engine keep running without the alternator and batterie? Or is that just the sound of the engine being driven by the headwind?

Great question. This video will answer that question - Aircraft Ignition System and Magnetos

I've struggled to understand when to use rudder on landing, this cleared it all up, thank you for putting it together. (The A330 at 4:01 seems out of place at this airfield though :D)

Flight Recorder was used to get the external shots. When replaying the data from Flight Recorder, live traffic still shows up in real time. The A330 wasn’t there when I actually recorded the initial landing. It was slightly out of place for sure.
