I read that the dance actually has a deeper meaning. The song is about getting old and the dance moves is supposed to be about that and all have their different meaning. So even if I think the performance is superfunny and crazy it has a deeper meaning. See if I can find the explanation and post it here.

I agree....I was talking to people close to me...this song almost reinvigorated me in a way. I know a lot of people think I was just laughing at it but I genuinely enjoyed it...this was the most fun I've had making a reaction video in a LONG friggin' time. This year I´m realy happy with Festival da Cançao. I realy think all the entries are quite good in different genres. I don´t think
there´s a realy "bad" song.Some I don´t like, the majority aren´t suitable for Eurovision but not because I think they´re bad, just my personal taste.I know that this year you´ll just react to the winner song for each country. At first I thought what is this? But it is growing on me and I am really liking it more and more. It is very quirky and distinctive. U are right & close to the main point when U're telling about a deep meaning conveyed by this song at 5'29. The lead signer confessed in an interview that he has been dealing with depression for a few years & he's now treated. Therefore he started seeing life in a more positive way again. This man is 38. He already has a life experience that some much younger performers attending Eurovision have not. Thus, he can share in his song a vision of human existence that most of them ignore, and more especially about challenging experience like depression. "On fire" is indeed a very entertaining song but above all a wonderful tribute to life whatever your AGE is: it focuses on prejudice about age when people are close to 40 and more.
Society claims when U're 40 and above u are worth nothing. The Roop's lead singer Vaidotas Valiukevicius says & sings that mature people can still experience joy, energy and fun and give the same around them. This song is actually a funny creative tribute to self-respect and maturity. Getting old is a hardship if we let it become this in fact: western society that puts youth on a pedestal has to become more open: mature or old people can stay creative & useful to their community and give a lot to anyone. having fun & feeling burning desire is not a matter of age at all! That's the deep message of this song directly related to Vaidotas Valiukevicius' recent life experience. One more reason to vote for "On fire" at Eurovision.
