I grew up on pure maple syrup and there is absolutely nothing that can compare to the real deal. My dad would heat a quart of pure maple syrup and add walnuts to it then pour it over homemade vanilla ice cream.
My mom convinced us that it was so absurdly expensive that only rich people could afford it. She gave me a bottle for my birthday one year because I had asked about real maple syrup. I lived it then it ran out and she went right back to mes Butterworth. Then as an adult I realized that you could get a jug of syrup that would last months for about what a hamburger would cost.😊😊
@@pullingthestrings5233 That's a terrible comparison. I just tasted it for the first time in my life and WOW why did I wait so long, well price is one reason, I paid £4.75 = $5.77 for 250ml. it is sweet but not sickly with a mellow wood taste with some other flavourings I've never tasted before, it will go on my porridge tonight, reading its food values it is like Pop-eyes spinach and the energy levels are off the scale, pure energy from a natural source with no preservatives, colourants, stabilisers or E-Numbers, just as nature made it, maple trees must be fast growers !

@@tonypepperoni3157 understandable! The scale needed today in any production is quite unique. Here’s to hoping the demand for maple syrup continues to rise as others have to slow sugar farming due to pollution.
That's wonderful! I have just one big maple tree, and I've finally resolved to tap it this year. Haven't started boiling the sap yet, but I'd already say it's worth it. 😄
I never purchased real maple syrup until I was in my 30s because of the price difference. Finally did one day out of curiosity and wow was there a difference. Never going back.
I used to think that maple syrup is bad for health and unnatural until I saw this video now. I have never tried it, but I will try to purchase the authentic one from Canada.

Not yet. But in any case, maple season is roughly March-April. It needs to get below freezing at night and warm during the day for sap to run. Once the trees burgeon, maple season is over.
We tapped one tree in back yard when I was young. I loved sap cold...okay that was long time ago. Now that I am adult my taste buds just dont jive with maple syrup. wouldn't you be worried about potentially spreading disease through an entire forest? You've essentially connected the 'veins' of every single tree and let the 'blood' flow freely past each other. It would be like getting and doling out blood donations from every single volunteer with no background check.
@@danielleN101 no they're connected through the mycorrhizal network and that *doesn't* transfer sap between trees. I think maybe you read a poorly worded explanation of it, the roots of trees aren't joined like conjoined twins. For your understanding maybe imagine like, a tandem skydiving harness. They are physically connected, tied together by something which isn't a part of their body, can communicate more easily, can send nutrients more easily(think handing eachother a snack bar) but there is no direct exchange of fluid.
@@danielleN101 Plants can also communicate by releasing chemicals through their roots. However again, the roots are not connected to do this. It would be like the equivalent of human speech. @blaisemacpherson7637 where are you getting your maple syrup? It's about $15-20 per 32 FL oz if you're lucky.

My family were sugar makers in Vermont. I remember tapping the trees as a young kid
Mine too. My family used to own a company called American Maple, which supplied LL Bean (when they used to sell maple in their catalogues).

Hello, nice to meet you all, and thank you for the video!
Thanks for that video. Never knew how maple syrup was collected, now I do. Looks like a very relaxing rewarding type of work.

My 7 year old really wants to make maple syrup.
Are the vacuum lines sucking the sap from the trees or is the sap naturally dripping out?
Hey I'm from Newhampshire which is right next to Vermont we also do alot of maple syrup making as well, the sap just falls out.
Canadian maple syrup #1❤🎉
When we go out for brunch my wife and I always smuggle a small flask of pure maple syrup in case the restaurant only has the log cabin stuff
Can maple trees be planted in a country without a winter season?
