This is not over. The water will continue to flow down stream. There are people who have yet to be effected. In 2011 my siblings and I put 12,000 sandbags around our mom’s house in McCook Lake to save it. People drove through the cramped streets to quawk. Yes, some people came to help … I’m looking at those 4 young ladies who worked at Premier First who came every day after work to help. Your efforts are still appreciated. AND YES, I still remember the loudmouth jerk in his convertible stopped in front of me complain about congestion on that tiny street as I was 4 days into 95+ heat sandbagging. PLEASE, if you are in the area DO NOT drive and quawk. DO GO and help fill sandbags. If you have never had to scramble to save property you do not understand how grateful those people will be. Oh, take them some food too, they are not stopping to eat.

Many towns in Iowa will not build flood walls - like Davenport - bc they do not want to hurt tourism in their downtown areas - that sit right on the Mississippi and flood every few years. People have got to get it together - this planet is changing - fast - like it or not. Hope these people recover soon.
