Reason it wasnt downshifting in auto is because you didnt put it into "Sport" which activates when you pull back on the gearstick when its in drive. Also, you need to put it in "Sport" before slotting it across into manual mode as this puts your idle above 1000rpm and gets the box ready for launches etc. Another thing is, if you put the traction control into sport, your shifts will become far far more aggressive as well. - 8V S3 owner.
Thanks for reviewing my car, Zach! Great video and finally nice to see your review. That's why i didn't ride along! :) Sad that i sold the car, but now when are you going to review my F80 M3?!
Thanks guys! My F80 M3 is currently stock, but the only reason i sold my Audi was because i missed a manual transmission. Yes it's harder to drive in LA traffic, but once the road clears, its glorious. Plus my S3 went to a good friend, so i know she's in good hands.
Yo change that neuspeed intake for a closed intake, i had one and it made my car SLOW AF. Changed it to the apr intake and the car picks up so much better now. Less heat soaking from the engine.
I daily the same car (albeit with APR bolt-ons), this review is pretty spot-on. The ride can be too rough on some city streets though, even in comfort mode.
I just bought a 2017 Audi S3. Mine has most the options, sport seats, and the complete digital gauge cluster. It also came with a lot of aftermarket APR bolts-ons. Love the magna-ride as I daily drive my car as well as track day it from time to time. It has been awesome in every way. I love the feel of it in the corners on the road and the track. The thing I would say is on the track it understeers a lot and it's annoying. I didn't get one with the good stereo and I wish I would have. I couldn't care less that the seat is manually adjusted, once I set it I never really need to adjust it. That's a small deal for me. The light steering is not a big deal unless I'm on the track, then I'd much rather be driving the M235i or M240i.
Or a better tuner. Maestro suite which he supposedly has should allow for power to be tailored. My K04 on my CCTA Tsi doesn't run out of power until about 6200 rpm.
Ravenstylea2 I’ve got the ihx600 on upgraded fueling it’s a beast. The car is always limited to about 400whp on stock fueling. My ihx600 takes out Apr stage 3 kits like they’re lunch
I used to do a lot of road cycling myself. Since gotten into Mountain Biking more. I know what it's like to be passed by a car doing 60+ mph, so I ALWAYS give at least 1.5 metres, usually more.
I'm not blown away by the performance of this turbo/tune. Several other Stage3(+) kits out there that perform WAY better up top! My Golf R (S3 cousin) is stock, and already pulls hard between 2000 and 5500 RPM, even at altitude, but the stock tune leaves enough room to run the turbo harder at altitude to keep boost higher. A bigger turbo with a proper tune slides that rev range up, and I don't see that here, or the tune didn't leave much room to keep absolute boost higher when the air is thinner. Hopefully whomever bought this car will sort that out.
Zack I know you get some flak because you are filling matts shoes for the one takes but u are just as entertaining and good as he is in the one takes, keep it up man! Your work is great podcast is still great and both u and matt are awesome!!!!

Bro on stage 3 there is an option to get port injection that's why he said he didn't want to tap into the intake manifold. I have a stage 2 A3 and can definitely tell he just threw money at this car but he wasn't wrong.
Port injection is done when you run out of fuel with DI. Being that it runs out of breath at 5k makes me think this car is not sorted out. I have a modified CCTA Tsi with a K04 and she doesn't run out of breath until 6k rpm per my MAF readings. Shot out to my man Frank Mabo who tuned my car to rip like crazy.

I just bought a demo car S3 to replace my DD... 2018 for 40k and came across this. I would never consider modding my S3, I'd just get an RS3. If you're going to blow the Audi warranty, it should be worth it IMO. Audi's aren't cheap to fix or maintain. RS3's are into the 9's with light mods which is great - but even a bigger turbo, downpipe, and tune are expensive compared to modding a Camaro, Corvette or Mustang. Problems are definitely easier and cheaper to address.
nah, dump $10k into an s3 and you'll have a car that is just as fast and fun as a used rs3. And still all the while saving $15k to $20k on the buyout cost. There is also very little noticeable difference in the looks. But this is what smart people do.

Rs3 much more expensive than getting an S3 and doing fbo and tune. I got my S3 for $21,000, so even if I went FBO, tune and so on, it probably wouldn't be more than an extra $5000 to $7000. @@23905970 must have been a early issue. Engines are made in either Czech or Poland. So maybe it's due to one factory vs the other? Or just a bad batch of pumps. They claim a extra 244 crank hp and 196lbs torque with the stage 3 upgrade and that the kit is capable of 522 crank hp. But I always find apr to be on the generous side in regards to their hp claims.
I've got literally 50% of the cost of an RS3 with basically the same performance. RS3 just isn't that great a value. I was going to get one with euro delivery, but they took forever to come in so I got a used S3 and modded more or less like this one. Michael Jez my lease for the 15 s3 ended a few months ago and then I got myself a used 16 golf r. So far there’s no coolant problem on the golf so maybe they fixed the problem for the newer cars
@@23905970 must have been a early issue. Engines are made in either Czech or Poland. So maybe it's due to one factory vs the other? Or just a bad batch of pumps. Either way, enjoy the R ; I feel like it's a better looking car from my inside anyway. I can't stand the interior on the A3, reminds me of a cheap Jetta.
They claim a extra 244 crank hp and 196lbs torque with the stage 3 upgrade and that the kit is capable of 522 crank hp. But I always find apr to be on the generous side in regards to their hp claims.
More audis please!
I like the difuser, Where did you bought it
Thanks Zack
Nice guy w/ a great car. Too bad he's low on info about his car.
Happens when you don't have the time to research cars like a lot of us do.
Wouldn’t it have made sense just to get Rs3. Mine is same color btw, arrival jan 2019😬
I've got literally 50% of the cost of an RS3 with basically the same performance. RS3 just isn't that great a value. I was going to get one with euro delivery, but they took forever to come in so I got a used S3 and modded more or less like this one. I'd have been pissed to get an RS3 and find out it still understeers a lot.
whats that digital analogue face clock in between the centre aircon vents?
Phone holder
How much would this setup cost in US $?
hi, i'm from the uk does the american market not get the hatchback version of A3/S3/RS3?
TheSneekyfox no, hatchbacks don’t sell that well here.
Is that blowoff or flutter?
Dripping in lambs fur and golden wine?? 😂
Wow, I must have been gone a while. Where's Matt?
With a last name like klapman, how are you not good at clapbacks ?
