Man, I thought that was a keeper too! I was impressed by both the pigment and the combo with that flake - very cool! I think I'd add a bit of 0.015 green flake as well, fill in the blank space and give a little more depth/texture.
With these builds you are doing. You are going to have tons of fun with your spring fishing. The only problem will be what you are going to fish first. But what a problem to have. Be blessed. My friend.
I have been using hobby lobby glitter for five years. Their glitter holds up under heat better then any glitter I could find from lure making companies. Priced right and superior quality.
Michael I was going to use their glitter but when I contacted the manufacturer they said they did not recommend heating the glitter to that hot of a temperature. Do you see a color change in the glitter?
Well now …… those colors are gorgeous Adam. The Morning Dawn was my favorite but really all of them were beautiful. Love your creations and enthusiasm. Great content as always. Have a blessed day bud
Thanks man! Glad you enjoyed it! Yup, the morning dawn (although more blue-than-purple looking on camera, for some reason!) was definitely a highlight!
Amazing I've just done my first ever batch today and I was buzzing when I opened the mould all thanks to you as your channel inspired me to try do it for myself I can't thank you enough my friend They turned out fantastic can't wait to fish them keep those videos coming love and best wishes from SCOTLAND ❤🏴
Definitely cost effective - I did see some color change, a few flakes lost their color... but the flake underneath was still reflective, so while the colors changed a bit it just added a "holographic"/reflective effect that I didn't mind. Not sure the purist would like it as much, but it worked for me!
The world of lure making is absolutely insane. It’s immensely vast. Imagine color shift flake with hyper shift powder and some highlight on the belly. Then imagine that with a different colored tail and it all being a triple laminate. What the heck 😂. Absolutely wild what you can do.
Adam some of them will bleed different colors I've used some. Liked the morning dawn color!! Also I don't own triple injector but the lureworks morning dawn and dop metal mist together looks like Aaron's morning dawn!! Try it sometime it looks good!! Great show!!
Yup, they are indeed a little heat sensitive - I saw that too. That said, when I lost a little color the underlying flake was still reflective so it added a little extra flare - at least for me, LOL! Sounds like a sweet triple bait too, thanks man!
Hobby lobby just has stuff, man. I love the flake, for sure. However, note to self no more clown stuff for you, Adam. We don't need you throwing punches in and around the shop 😂. Great builds as always. Thanks for sharing.
No argument here - my shop is a clown-free zone! Its crazy... I become a different person around them... should be a legit diagnosis or something... "clown-rage".
@SDGCustomLurecraft I have some experience with the clown phobia. My brother doesn't like them either, and I didn't believe him until I was picking on him with a clown mask one day, and he went ballistic. I was lucky not to get injured. BTW, he is a marine and 20 years younger than me. Needless to say, I don't mention clowns around him anymore.😅
They definitely got a little lost... but then I would turn the bait and be able to see them just so. Made me wonder what it would look like in the water - should have tank tested a few!
Definitely subscribed. Thanks for the video. I see the plastisol you use has very little to no air bubbles unlike mine. May I ask what product plastisol it is you use. Thanks again
@@enrique-uz8qx welcome to the community! Glad you enjoyed the video. I use BaitPlastics 242 Low Odor Ultra Clear for just about everything I make. Great product!
Has anyone used any plastic coloring from hobby lobby? If so what kind did you guys use? My son and I are new to the plastic pouring and we are still trying to learn!
I’ve bought and used the Pearl-Ex powders available at HL. Not sure what other “plastic coloring” you’re referring to. Of course airbrush and modeling paints would be a no-go simple due to the heat of the plastisol.
My apologies . They were hanging on the wall in a video that you did 3 years about making the 4 cup fluid beds . I'm sure you have used them by now . Thanks for your help and your videos .
Ever tried adding flake to a clear coat on a jighead? Thinking the color shift on a jighead in clear water would be awesome. Bigger jig head I suppose. Anyone try this?
I have indeed, especially heads that I airbrushed vs powder paint. Although… I used micro flake as the medium size (even the small size) can start looking a little “pokadotty”. Love the small stuff though!
You could certainly do that! I’ve messed around with 2-part epoxy and flake this size before but found it starts looking a little too “polka-dotty” for my taste. Flake in resin/clear coat shines best (IMO) when using micro flake (0.008 or smaller).
More than I care to think about, LOL! Especially since this is just the soft plastic side... I also have lead molds for jig heads, airbrush paints and compressors for hard baits... the list goes on! But even still, its an awesome hobby and a very rewarding experience, especially when I can catch some fish on the stuff I make!
Thanks man - welcome to the community! All those molds are from Epic Bait Molds - hands down best in the business! I put links to each mold in the video description! Definitely check em out!
@ yeah, there’s some jig videos on the channel - that’s all I used to do, but started making plastics and focus there now. You should be able to find a playlist called “tying tutorials” that has some jig content in it. I’ve also gone through the various vises I’ve used over the years in another video. Poke around on the channel, hopefully you can find what you’re after!
VERY rarely salt... it dulls the finish and weakens the bait. I've done scent in the past, but only through oil in the bag afterwards (I don't any longer).
These are awesome! By any chance are you having color changes upon reheat? My ivy shimmer went crazy after the first reheat and I tried to do it 30 second intervals to keep it slow 😢
Yeah, these are more heat sensitive for sure. You keep the reflective nature of the "under" material but the colors can change on you. Best to add to your plastic right before shooting and try to keep your reheat at 330 or less.
Yup, I noticed it didn't like higher temps. I shoot most everything 330 or less, laminates closer to 320-325, but still, reheats can take it up etc. I noticed the flake under the color was still reflective and shiny, so even though I lost some color I swapped for flash - not too terrible I suppose :)
Dude... these are looooooooong days. Man I hate winter... especially when you get results like that red/yellow-gold Millipede! Its killin' me - come on Spring!
They are heat sensitive, yup. Add late, just before shooting. If you’re going to reheat count on losing a little of the effect. Totally usable, just not as dynamic as the initial shot.
Glad ya dig em! While I used to sell by the bag, I mainly sell box sets and bait combos now. With a growing channel, fulltime job, and family I don't make as many baits as I used to (and I can't take new custom work), but when I do make a batch I post them to the site! Thanks man!
Some flakes lost their color, yup, but it wasn’t a total loss and the underlying flake was still reflective… so, if anything, it added a little holographic flake look it the baits.
Some better than others. I could tell a few flakes lost the intended shiftiness, but the base of the flake was still reflective so... while a different color than what it showed originally, I didn't mind the new "bling". For the purists they are likely more of a 1-shot deal, but I'll certainly remelt all these and keep creating with them!
Love the colors from hobby lobby! You are a master at mixing and blending colors that work well together! Have a great week!
Thank ya my friend!
I have some of those color shift glitters from hobby lobby. I like the effects some of the soft plastic colors get from the color shift

@carterscustomlures675 some worse than others, but yeah especially on the reheats.
I've learned a lot from you, Adam. Your use of pearls is very enlightening. Thank you, brother. Tell Reid hello.
My pleasure Guy, will do!
Awesome video! Love the changing flake from Hobby Lobby! And I just noticed, almost to 10k!!! WOOT!!!

That’s awesome Dave, enjoy the flakes! They are a little temperature sensitive so go easy on the remelts, add them just before shooting if ya can!
