I have texted before (and I should not have, I don't anymore) but you know what is more distracting: the heat adjustment, the radio, the navigation apps in the new cars. My old vehicle i can use the radio and heat without even looking. It is impossible to do that in a new car because it is all screen based.
Minnesota did this a decade ago, we all had to go out and buy a phone holder. I’m thrilled to hear St.Louis is doing ANYTHING to fix the problem on our roads.
The real problem is we aren’t cracking down on the people that shouldn’t behind the wheel. There are people driving that can’t walk and chew gum without tripping themselves. The only difference here is not having it in your hand, guess what you are still distracted with the phone on the dash and talking.
I'm a Lyft driver. This law makes it illegal to touch your screen to match or accept rides, or activate navigation on the Lyft driver or Uber driver apps? So rideshare is now impossible in that state. Brilliant.
The apps will find a way because they make too much money Edit: voice commands have been around for a couple decades so how they don't already have it integrated i don't know.
Should be a 30 day vehicle impound for first time. 30 day jail time and 5 year license suspension the 2nd time. 5 years in jail and lifetime license suspension 3rd time.
I would bet that a very small margin of people using their phone while driving is due to something so emergent you couldn't pull into the nearest parking lot/side of the interstate to address.
I’ve seen plenty of cops doing it too. Why should they be excluded from the same law?

Those are not more distracting lmao

There are videos on youtube where cop makes up lie person touched their phone
i am in Ohio, the state said it is the driver responsibility to prove you was not.... like wtf?
Why did it take so long?

Same bs we heard about the seat belt law

Then the cops will use the law to put people they don't like in jail, he said she said laws crap.
It isn’t humanly possible. People have emergencies. The government can be sued for this.
I mean the speed limit isn’t going to stop me from rushing to a hospital in an emergency
emergencies make up less than one percent of all texting while driving instances.
If you have to respond, pull over or have a passenger make the call/respond to the text.
Else, I hope you have stiff fines.

Any and everything to rip ppl off for their money 😮😢
Maybe don't watch UA-cam when you're driving then.. Lol
