I have a couple of these and they are great little recorders but I wouldn't use them as my primary source. The audio is fairly decent but its got a nasty compression and its all a bit nasally. The Dr10L is by far superior in that respect so I'd recommend only using these as backups or where you really can't use a DR10L. Even in ceremonies the audio from a DR10L attached on a groom for the bride I think is better than one of these down the cleavage etc. Nice little recorder though and good to have a couple in your kit bag for sure 👍
Thanks for the comment dude! I had both mics on him because I was gearing up to make this video lol. Normally I would just use the tascam dr10l BUT if for whatever reason I don't have time, I'll use the tx660 since it's just a clip on.
Hey I thinking about Sony Tx660 & Sony UX570. What device is more pro from this to & what device give me a batter battery & catch batter voice from surroundings?
I’ve been using the ux570 and I just bought the tx660 and after realizing the the 660 dosent offer WAV 48khz like the UX570 I don’t see much of a reason to get the 660 especially since you can upgrade the memory on the 570 but not the 660. Just my 2 cents
Hello thank you for this nice comparison. My old DR10L is broken and I need a new one. Is this sony tx6600 also great for recording in side of busy road?
I haven't had luck converting 44.1 into 48, using Audacity. I mean, it converts but it still doesn't sync. It seems to me (from looking around at comments) that most reviewers of the 44.1 recorders use PluralEyes to sync. That program has drift correction and can often sync 44.1 into 48.
Hey Brian, sorry for the very late response here. I am not converting it because like Chris mentioned, I'm using Pluraleyes which comes with a drift correction feature.
Hey Rapheal Can i use it for voice recording as a spy in a room, where i plan to keep this device in a hidden place? Will the lcd or led glow when recording? Thank you.
Uhm, I’m not sure if it’s morally right to answer this but for ‘general recording’ you want your subject to be within 6 inches for the best result possible. Hope this ‘helps’.
Two scenarios: Do you think it would work well in a 60 person classroom sitting about 20 feet from the lecturer who is not wearing a mic? How about if the lecturer was wearing a mic?
The lecturer wearing the mic is always the best thing. BUT if the room is quiet and the lecturer is the only one speaking, I think the 660 would pick them up just fine… obviously not as clear as opposed to having them wear it.
that sony is a hidden gem. I used to use it all the time for all of my corporate shoots back in the day and I still use it today as a back-up!
Dude this is the best review of TX660 i've watched so far. Thank you!
I don’t understand why Tascam and zoom haven’t made this? Same size with a really good mic and recording options.
DUDE SO HELPFUL!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! Ordering this right now for my piece of mind🤙🏼
Enjoy man! It’s a great tool!
Brilliantly done , can I practice my singing voice on this or the sound pretty good? Thank you if you respond

Couldn't of said it any better. I think the convenience of these recorders is where they truly shine.
great review! Small question, when you showed the example clip at @5:56 Did you have both mics attached tp the groom? if so, why? Thanks!

You had me at “awkward officiants” 💯 especially priests🙈😬
Yea man. I'm about to see one of those this weekend. Wish me luck.

Could you give me some tips on your setting?
Thanks bro
My next buy would be the zoom f2 bt. Maybe after that I consider the Sony. 👌

Took a look at some of your videos. The Tascam is better, but the Sony is good enough for what you want to do. Hope this helps.
@@RaphealPersaud thank you. I've ordered a sony tx6600 and will try it in my vlogging environment
Nice review! I am thinking about picking up one or two. What are you recording at with it? 44khz 16bit? Are you converting it to 48? Thanks

So, it doesn't have an external mic input ?
It doesn't. The input is only for headphones so you can listen to your recordings.
hey Rapheal, thanks for the review
can attach an external lav mic to TX660?
The Tascam will turn on and start recording from off. Just flick up to record when the unit is off.
How did I not know this!? 🤯
I have noticed the audio has Lpcm !6 bit audio , is this better than MP3?
Hey Rapheal

How do you set audio levels on the Sony?
Which one is better, Tx800 or Tx660?
I would say the TX660 is marginally better
I am from India , can you tell me can i listen any recording in slow motion way, as I want.
outdor recomend Sony tx660 and zoom h1n
It sounds good even for outdoor use but you're at the mercy of how loud your surroundings are. I'm not familiar with the H1N as I've never used it.
can you record stereo line in or stereo usbc audio?
Unfortunately not
umm do you think it will still record a class if i put it inside my backpack ?
I don't think it would be clear enough.
Great Comparison, Definitely looking into getting the Sony Tx660 now!
Can you pause the record and rewind it some seconds and record over it? I really want to know. And thank you anyway
No, once something is recorded, it stays there until the entire file is deleted
Thank you very much! I was gonna buy it for that actually.
Sony TX660 is awesome. Super like it. Let be friend with you 😊
Why 44.1 Khz?! it does not fit the 48 Khz that your camera is recording
✌...

@@RaphealPersaud thank you! As long as it’s better than an iPhone with crazy background noise lol
660 is not the predecessor of the 650, its the successor.
Yea that’s what I meant to say. Good catch!
