Just found your channel. We are local, but moving soon. We may have time to herp for fox snakes tho. Hubby used to find them all the time, he says. They are gorgeous!!
He's an experienced herper but he's lifting the tin up with his finger's, look's like a good way to get bit. The snake's he's looking for aren't venomous apparently but if he did happen across one that is venomous this video doe's look dangerous. Racer's are alway's going to bite you.😱😱😱😱😱😱😱
Cool, thanks! Looks like you are in the Eastern part of the state, possibly Midland, MI area. I live in the southwest part of the state, I don't see many fox snakes here, and never that big! Nice find! I do live in one of the two counties in the state known for its large Black Rat Snakes,(Barry and Allegan Counties), and the Blue Racers are huge as well, and brightly colored. A species I'm having a hard time finding is the Smooth Green Snake- which I found many of as a kid, but no longer. ~take care, happy herpin'!
We saw a messasauga (sp) rattlesnake at Lake Erie metropark 3 years ago. It was a baby.
Beautiful!
I thought fox snake's are pituophis not rat snakes? Am I wrong or is the pituophis part or the rat snake genome?
( I'm sorry for the spelling).
Nope, Foxes are not Pituophis. They are Pantherophis, just like other rat snakes

Do the fox snakes bite ?
It’s very common knowledge where you are. You can reveal it anytime lol.
We have some big fox snakes up here in a certain part of the U.P. , but unfortunately no blue racers, or massasaugas. Nice video, happy for you.
looks like at 16:50 there's another water snake basking on the rock right between the water and the rock all the way to the left
Around Battle Creek we had Massassaga rattlesnakes in our garden and also Hicory corners area too
I just learned that ratsnake's scientific name is Pantherophis (leopard snake), it must be referring to their physical power and possibly pattern.

Awesome finds love these snakes! Blessed to have em in my local area
Juvie 5 min out of the car, then those two adults. I'd say, mission accomplished. Sweet Home Alabama, never herped there, should be interesting.
Great job. 3 foxes snd a blue racer is a pretty unforgettable outing.
Fox snakes are in a league of their own for sure. That young one was especially stunning 👌
Thanks, man! It was a treat for sure!
Thanks for making videos about snakes!
Good stuff man!!!
I saw a big fox snake this spring by st John's marsh while fishing. Was surprised by their size
Love this channel!! I always wanted to find a fox snake 🐍.

Wow that looks a lot like bull/gopher snakes
Great video, always enjoy your content. Was that another snake at 16:50 to the left of the water snake you were filming?
I see that too, looks like one. Good spot.
Yep, looks like another basking water snake. Good eye!
It looks like a lot of those painted turtles had some sort of fungal or a shell rot? Can anyone identify the condition?
It look's like moss out of the water to me?
I like how you always show some photos of the snakes. Very well done.
