    They will get better. I remember using Legere as a practice reed for my clarinet. Now this latest EC Legere plays better than any cane reed for me ever could!

    It would be interesting if this is the "everlasting" reed, because every normal reed desintegtades after a time of playing

      I am using my current one for over two years and it just now starts to get worse

    just got mine, working on embouchure with just the reed until my oboe arrives!
    I LOVE legere because I am a doubler and when I was in college I finally discovered it and I can focus on my technique instead of spending hours a week adjusting reeds and buying cane to make new ones.
    Not only is it expensive, but having to break new clarinet and tenor sax reeds for 2 weeks with humidity packs, 3-5 minute playing for a weeor two, constantly having to have a shot glass of water next to my clarinet stand and rotating out reeds.
    If you play multiple types of clarinets, multiple saxophones, oboe, basoon, you probably have more money than you could ever spend on reeds so I guess go ahead. 😂

    Thank you for your presentation and comments. I agree with you about the disadvantage of the plastic reed. This reed is above average, but not great. I also wish for Légère to make a cor anglais reed! Soon! I AM holding my breath with you!

    Does 'medium soft' mean that it takes less effort [for beginners] to get the sound out than it takes for medium or does it mean that the sound is softer than the sound of a medium?

      @bluegreenteal 6 років тому +4

      Medium soft reeds are easier to play, so they are usually for beginners. Medium is harder to play because the reed is thicker, with more resistance when you try to play. Usually, medium reeds will have a better tone quality than medium soft, but it varies on reed brand and the oboist. The sound will remain the same depending on the volume you play it at.

      What about medium hard?

      Think like this. A ten year old needs a softer reed, and so on, small lungs new lips... Who plays on a hard reed for chamber, orchestral etc. ? X fingers, it’s stable to pitch, quality control n such. You got to work with every reed, make your own. Holy moly if that’s your best reed. Can you record with it? I knew the Fibercane oboe reed very well. Selmer distributes 30,000 a year for a couple decades.

    Non credo che iniziare a fare video in un'altra lingua, il primo motivo è che molti termini sono italiani, come credo la maggior parte di chi guarda questi video, inoltre il canale è nato per parlare degli strumenti dell'orchestra da degli italiani, nella lingua von la quale ma maggior parte della musica è nata. Se fate video in inglese sareste soltanto uno dei tanti, mentre siete stati i primi che parlate di musica strumentale in Italia professionalmente. Se volete che più persone guardino i vostri video, anche non italiane, parlate in italiano e mettete i sottotitoli in inglese, non per forza nel video stesso, ma nelle impostazioni, attivabili o disattivabili. Dico tutto questo perché anche se fare i video in inglese personalmente non mi cambierebbe molto a livello di ciò che capisco, penso che possa dare a molti musicisti italiani la possibilità di avere qualcuno che gli spieghi bene, al di fuori dei propri insegnanti, cosa significhi suonare nella loro lingua madre

      Ciao Giulio, questo video è offerto dalla Légère, che ci ha chiesto di farlo in inglese. Tutti i nostri video sono in italiano e continueranno ad esserlo.
