This was the first result that popped up in my search. We own an old home with beautiful, but LONG windows. I sewed the drapes we have now over 15 years ago and just don't have the time now or the money for custom made. I'm so excited to try this. Your directions are clear (and your voice is quite soothing)! Thank you!
Hey Tawn...I feel you on having to start completely over but this hack can bring some new life into what you already have....I know you will do great...Virtual 🤗 &😘 TFW!
This is the best no sew curtain tutorial I have ever seen. Great job!
I've always wondered how to lengthen drapes and thought sewing was the only way. Thank you so much for the easy to understand step-by-step!
Here it is September 2020. This was the best video I found to help me with this issue. You give clear, concise, complete and, easy to follow instructions. The visuals are great too. Thank you so much. Now I feel confident I can do this.
It looks very pretty.
They look nice. You did a wonderful job, without lifting
a pin...♥️
Hey Donna This is a big help if you are running short on fabric too...gives the drapes a different look...Thanks for Watching & Smooches😘
Wonderful tutorial! thank you very much!
Just an FYI, you’re using the seam ripper upside down. The ball part goes in between the fabrics you’d like to take the seam out of, the sharp point goes outside, above the seam you want to rip out. I know it seems counterintuitive, but that’s how it goes to rip out a seam. 😊
THANK YOU!!!! I need curtains that are at least 125 inches long, hard to find! Now I know what to do! I am a bit good with crafts so this should be easy peasy.
Love how they turned out! It does look so much better with the extra fabric in a solid color ☺ Thanks so much for sharing and congratulations for your son definitely will keep him in my prayers and you of course lol. Hope you have a great day 😃
Good to see you back. Pray that your son stays safe.
Thank you! Looks great !
BLESSINGS to you and your family great job congratulations on your son achievement👍👍👍🙏🙏🙏
Thanks so much! You have great pacing ... I can watch and listen and absorb, then get started doing!
Genius! I just purchased the same living/ dining room curtains in a different length, but the same color as the existing ones. Thank you, Sis!🙏👍😊
Hey Anissha I'm so happy to help...this method has help Me when I have ran short on fabric or drapes just not long enough...Thank You for watching...Hugs & Love to You🤗😘
Great tutorial. I plan to sew mine but your video explained perfectly the steps I'll have to take.
Wow thank you so much! I bought a house with transom windows. The drapes I currently have hanging look awkward between the two windows, so I would like to place curtains above the transoms. I feel this would help to create the appearance of a much larger room. Since curtains come in one standard size, I wasn’t sure how to extend them without a sewing machine but your tutorial has helped me tremendously. Not only does it seem relatively easy to do, but it looks professional. Thank you so much for this how to video!! 😁
looks great, I think it gives off an original custom design.
Thanks for an alternative way of lengthening curtains.
Hey Donald I love to keep things simple & everyone doesn't have a sewing machine. I would love to know how your project turned out. Thank you so much for watching! Hugs & Love🤗😘

Marlene Marken Hey Marlene you're very welcome😘
I love you! where have you been all my life. ... I am thankful for you. I love it.
Hi I’m doing a bedroom makeover. Had found perfect colour match Curtains but to short also they are plain and lined. I do have a similar Duvet cover but it’s patterned. The curtains don’t even go to the length of the window and I’d like them floor length. Would you suggest doing what you’ve done on your Video or trying something else? Thank you from the UK 😊
What would be a good fabric to lengthen printed grommet topped sheers?
Lyons
Hey Honey Sheer fabric is a different animal because of the type of fabric the heat could burn a hole in the sheer material. Options ...you can sew additional light weight fabric to the bottom or you could use fabric glue...it takes longer because it has to dry & you will need to place weights or heavy books along the glued seam so that is will dry & bind together. I KNOW I 've said alot but I hope this helps🤗
Great video!
Chante you know that I am going to do this right? Great tutorial!
Can you lengthen a curtain made from a faux velvet with the same material? My curtain is 108" but I need 136" I thought I might just purchase an extra curtain and cut it in half and add it to the bottom. Do you think that would work? Or do you have any ideas for maybe adding the extra fabric to the top half of the drapes? Thanks so much!!
Hi My first Video lov it I'm going too you made it soon simple thanks so much
Instead of the heat and bond I'd just sew it. Makes for a more permanent fix.
Looks good and thank u very helpful!!
Tara Roberts Hey Tara...this is a technique that change the look of your room. TFW😘
Thanks sis👉🏽🙌🏽👈🏽🌺 good help
Hey Mrs. Scaife....I love the look for ceiling to floor in a standard bathroom...just takes it up a notch....TFW....Hugs & Love to you:)
Can I lengthen sheers the same way? I bought 84" and I need 96".
Great video! I'm thinking about lengthening some 84" curtains to about 95". I'll let you know how it turns out. Is it hard using the seam ripper?
How would you length open weave drapes with extra panels of same fabric also drapes with darken panels . Moveing into new house bought many drapes but not all the right length so bought extra panels. I use to sew a lot but age has taken a tole on memory on a budget help please juanita
Very nice done! TFS
Will you make a video of the valance when you find your fabric?
Heeey Tj thank you & yaaaassss I will do a vid & I will make it no sew....I do a have a valance video I'm working on but I used my sewing machine....Thank you again Sweetie for watching:)
Awesome .. I look forward to seeing it you are very welcome!
So I got my self in a Mess trying to get out. I put Curtains or trying to Make Curtains for a ball room Look not going to good so problem here is we have silk ish fabric I am a drywall finisher and a Out of practice sewer we Ran short on Fabric Trying to put two pieces together Without showing their Pieced in my Length is 18’ I only have 8’ and 10’ to put together How do I hide the connection or Can I .i know I can with thick fabric but it shows on this what do I do
Hey Erica sorry for the late response...when joining fabrics You want to have similar weights but if You don't You will have to get some flat braid or flat trim....& where the two pieces of fabric meet press the seam out as flat as You can on the back side...then glue Your flat trim piece over the area where two fabrics meet on the front side...this is an opportunity to get creative...trims can be flat, fringed or beaded...Let Me know how everything turns out....TFW Hus & Love to You
Thank you! This was just the video I needed! I'm subscribing!💁🏽♀️
So glad you are back! Great job on the curtain...adding the piece at the bottom turned ho-hum into lovely. You are a good teacher too, I might even give this a try. Thanks so much!
Hey Cheryl Ann it's hard to really get the feel but by taking the panels up to ceiling...it has more drama......TFW & Smooches:)
Hi! I was wanting to extend a shear curtain that I have and was wondering if the tape would show through if I were to add on to it?
Ashley Burke Hey Ashley sheers are a little hard to work with..... yes the tape will show through...it comes in white & semi clear. They do make fabric glues as well which may be a better option but I would do a test piece first to make sure it's to your liking....I hope this helps ....Hugs & Love to you😙
Wow this looked very interesting n easy to do...i think i will attempt. ...thanks
NEW SUBBIE; )
When you do not use material along the grain when you wash them they shrink....
DANGER! Do not iron on synthetic carpeting.
it's great, love it, BUT! too much work for me, sadly I don't have so much patience. l will ask someone else to do it for me 😆😉

Im trying to this but i have a few questions
Can i email you?
Hey Deborah of course...chantee@southerngirlinteriors.com
beautifully done...amazing explanation but that colour is dark and makes the bathroom look even smaller.
You talk to much before you get into your content.
Hahahah Hey Alice I did get U's in conduct as a kid LOL but TFW & Smooches:)
not sure if you are still answering anything, but here's the question, bought some super cheap blackout curtains so we can use the projector on the white side, but i want to turn it around when not in use (the projector) so it blends in with the walls (dark grey), they are 15" too short and i bought one more curtain to extend, but the seam has to be reversable so it's all white on the 'reflector' side, all dark on the 'deco' side... this video was a good idea, never knew this stuff existed as i am not a seamstress - have a sewing machine but don't really do anything lol...
Hey Eva...good thing you bought an extra curtain but you can do this...on the décor side where you see the seam you can add some decorative flat trim to hide the seam & it can be applied with the seam bond tape. As far as the back side you can do the same thing but you will see the seam but hopefully it will not be noticeable when using your projector. I hope this helps....Hugs & Love:)
The easiest video abt this yet. U have a new subscriber!
Hey Letha......I'm so happy my video helped.....I love the long length in my bathroom...it really brings drama to the space! Thank you so much for watching! So welcome to my YTFam..... Hugs & Love to you:))))
Aaaah thanks for this video!! I’m going to lengthen my curtains! Super helpful! Yay!!!
Thank you, this video was so helpful. I'm just a very casual sewer so I needed every bit of your hand holding through the process. Me and my fiancee reused 4 '63 in panels to make 2 104" in curtains for our bedroom. It worked out great.
Wow this was an amazing video. I am in the process of redoing my sons bathroom and like you I like to use curtains instead of shower curtains. My son and I love going to the thrift store and he found these amazing curtains that he said he wanted in his bathroom but they were 84 inches. They were 2.99 apiece so I bought three of them and I am definitely going to try this process tonight. Thank you so much for all of the details. I am going to post the video On Sunday I would love you to take a look at it and let me know what you think. If you like what you see please consider subscribing. And have an amazing evening.
Hey Debra glad I could help....Hug & Love to you:)

Just stumbled across your channel. Another amazing transformation. BTW, your hair is beautiful.
Thank you Sweetie for the compliment....she was behaving that day LOL!
Lovely job. I need to add a couple of inches to blackout curtains
Hey Debra...this has been my go-to method for years! Thanks for watching & Smooches 😘😘
Girl that was an excellent job, they don't make 'em like you anymore.
Sonya...I have to say by taking the curtains all the way to the ceiling it creates more drama.....I worked for a home builder back in the day & this is a design trick we would use in the model homes' all the time:)
Just what I was looking for - thank you!!!
Hey Mary I'm so happy My video was able to help...Thank You for watching...Hugs & Love to You🤗😘
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge I really appreciate it❤️❤️❤️
How to lengthen short curtain to long curtains
Hey Maryanna You would still follow the same technique adjust with adding more fabric to reach Your desired length...I hope this helps...Thank You for watching...Hugs & Love🤗😘
Great job!
Thank you so much for showing me how to do this. I am dying to try this with some curtains that I am in love with, but only come in 84 inch length. I need them to be 96 inches. I’m so scared!
Question, I have been tasked by my wife to lengthen curtains we had made, and the person completely botched them up (all too short and not all the same length.) Would the technique work using the same fabric and not look too terrible. This is my first time sewing. Thanks for your Son's service, my son is on year 6.
Hello I’m a new subscriber, are you still making videos love this idea thanks
Very useful, thank you
Hey Giada...I'm so happy My video was able to help...Thank You for watching...Hugs & Love to You🤗😘
