Very nice ..and his dance bands was exslent. .my dad be for the war in the 1930s Bort the Rex 78 ..at the right old age of 11 years I stated to look for 78s that my dad had and it went from there..my dad long left me and I am now 65 still love all this old music. ..
Charlie Kunz created a magical style which was unique. He was a great artiste but he was lucky that in his day there were lots of great Songwriters with great songs for him to play. Wonderful songs which we have allowed to drift into oblivion and replaced with primitive sounds masqueraded as music. Were it not for the wonder of UA-cam and diligence of Uploaders there would be virtually no music today as it disappeared from radio airwaves decades ago.
He usually released his "Medleys" at the time the individual numbers were in the "hit parade". Thus he left us with a chronological record of the hits of each popular music era. This particular one was from around 1952. Thank you so much for you comments - Steve
This stuff makes me emotional-old soul that I am. I just put a 30x40 music room on my place to listen & to have musical parties as I am the world's best listener !
Great medleys here from Charlie - interesting to hear him play a few up-tempo numbers for a change. (cor, you can't half see where our Glad was coming from about Charlie on these recordings...:-) Excellent up-load Steve.
...don't wish to sound negative though-Charlie would say it's easy to talk with hindsight. Truth is he set the ball rolling for all those who followed...
Yes, I had wondered about that. It's likely that the Monty Python team based their song on this rather obscure tune - very heavily it seems. They probably thought at the time that no one would remember it, notice, or much care. But now, of course, we have the internet and UA-cam....
So called "kiss of fire" by Allen and Hill is a grotesque and flagrant violation of ethics and copyright laws. The name of the piece is "El choclo" a famous argentine tango-milonga by Enrique Santos Discèpolo. What a pity that such illicit behaviours are still perpetuated !
Kunz played with such subtlety and elegance. His great sense of rhythm and sensitive touch were highly captivating.

Thanks - agreed Jo - if he'd exchanged his grand for a detuned upright then it would have been even more similar.

exactly - his passing (which was all too soon) - allowed others to "take over" and shine....
