The Conklin All American is a newly released mid-priced pen that's an homage to their vintage model. Available in three colors and three nib sizes, this pen is a good one to consider as a great 'step up' pen. I go over all the details in this video. Enjoy!

I absolutely love Conklin vintage pens. They hold a very very special place in my heart as one of the first pens I gifted my father was a modern Conklin as the brand name resembles our family name. Then when searching through my grandfathers (who passed) pens we found he owned Conklins as well. Particularly, two Nozacs. I also found a pen from his brother that passed very early in life which was a Conklin Endura that I repaired myself.
Now on to the modern pens...
I find myself very disappointed as the new Conklin pens don't really use any of the features that in my mind are what made Conklin. The ebonite or celluloid, the crescent filler, the gold nibs (at least on regular models) etc. On top of this, the finishes and even the original models are almost always absent. The nibs all of my modern Conklins have seem sub-par and it saddens me greatly because the brand holds such a special place in my heart. I'd love them to introduce a luxury line of Conklins, if nothing else, that have many of the features that the old Conklins did. There are a few with crescent fillers but they cost around $250 and have no gold nib and at that price it seems to command it. I'd like them to come out with new models continuing old models such as the Conklin Senior Endura, nozac and Glider for upper end.
Do you have any thoughts on quality control or switching the manufacturing process for people like me who really care about this brand?
Yafa's manufactured pens are definitely not my favorite...

I own two of these. I bought my first 'resurrected' Conklin, a Nozac, from Fahrney's about 20 years ago. Still have it, lightly used. Though these pens are really just Asian pens hiding under an old American name, I find this model, with the Jowo nibs, very comfortable to handle. I particularly like the 1.1 stub. Nothing special about these, but they are good workhorse fp's and I've put a few hundred pages through them.

it's a gorgeous looking pen. but i have seen many reviews about ink flow problem and nib not performs well. i experienced this type of problems with conklin duragraph and finally replaced the nib and feed to make the pen functional. any one has any idea if this is the case with conklin all American model also. pl share your experiences.

Conklin has recently switched nibs to JoWo which are great options without flow issues and write reliably. Should be a good option moving forward! - Colin

I doubt it's the kind of pen that this would make any difference at all on the secondary market, now or ever. ;) For the price though, a very cool resin writer!

Is the misspelling on all of the finishes in this first batch, or just the Sunburst Orange? I think it'd be cool to have one with the misprint, but I'm fond of the Banana Stand finish...err, I mean the "Yellowstone" finish :)

I got mine yesterday. I was going to order the Yellowstone 1.1 from Goulet, but they’re out-of-stock (dagnabit). So I looked on Amazon and found it for $47. 😳 It’s from Conklin, so makes me wonder if it’s going to be discontinued. I inked it up with Noodler’s Bad Green Gator, and wrote a letter with it. Pretty wet writer, but a lot of feedback. I don’t mind a little feedback, but this was too much. Probably going to try to smooth the nib. I really enjoy stubs. I have 7 TWSBI 1.1 stubs that I use all the time-l love ‘em. The first writing with the All American was just a bit disappointing, but I love the look/design of it, the wetness of the nib, and the lines it makes. It’s a keeper for me. Good review, Brian.

Are the stub 1.1 stub nibs on the Monteverdes the exact same nib as on the 1.1 stub on the Conklins? (Apart from the fact that some Monteverdes are a black colour) How about the 1.1 stub on Deltas?

Who makes the unbranded cartridges that you see that come with pens? Considering that it's from the same supplier, I am assuming those particular ones are Monteverde?

I just got my All American Yellowstone this evening. Using J. Herbin Violette Pensee ink with the 1.1mm stub nib (my nib is black, with the crescent breather hole), I find that it SQUEAKS as it moves across the paper. I'm using Clairefontaine paper for my journaling, and the squeaking is a bit disconcerting.

    • @Gouletpens
      @Gouletpens  9 років тому

Ian Sterling It can happen, but isn't totally normal. Have you tried different paper and ink? It usually will work itself out as you continue to write or you can reach out to us at info@gouletpens.com to talk about an exchange. -Margaret

The Goulet Pen Company its not singing nearly as much after about another hour of writing. I've also changed the ink, but not the paper. It seems to be getting better. I'm guessing this one just needs time to break in. Thanks. :-)
