    Fast Radio Bursts are exactly what they sound like. They're highly energetic bursts of radio waves that last mere milliseconds. And they're totally random.
    Because of how elusive they are, scientists are still trying to explain this weird phenomena. But thanks to new telescopes like CHIME in Canada, we're getting closer to the solution to this science mystery.

    FRBs are random and hard to catch, and theories for what causes them have literally outnumbered the number of FRBs found at one point. Explanations for FRBs include colliding neutron stars or colliding black holes, burping magnetars, neutron stars being jostled by nearby black holes, supernovas, and, of course, aliens.

    The microwave anecdote reminds me of a story from the TV station I used to work at. Apparently every weekday at about the same time they'd get massive hit of interference in the 4am Days or our Lives feed. After much troubleshooting, an engineer outside having a smoke realized the truck that delivered food to the cafeteria would park right next to the satellite dish. It was the truck's engine starting up after the delivery was complete causing the interference.

    • @TheSefirosu200x
      @TheSefirosu200x 5 років тому +2

      @@kamenwaticlients yeah, our *current* working theory and equations require the mass-energy equivalent to Jupiter, but it used to be a lot more. Like, the mass-energy of the entire galaxy. So, this means we could potentially keep refining the equations more and more until it takes a more practical amount of energy. The only problem, though, is I can never find out how many times c and what travel distance would require this much. Because, obviously, traveling at lower speeds or over shorter distances would require less energy.
      Personally, I'm putting my money on some sort of FTL drive that simply increases the speed of light in an envelope around your ship, rather than one which warps spacetime.

    The best alien kind of theory about FRBs is that its actually laser propulsion like we plan with project starshot. That would explain the dramatic power of them, it would mean that the power isnt really that big but very focused. If we get a lot of those directed flashes by chance that would mean that they would have to be used *a lot* by alien civilizations.

    Joe, you have the best commenters! I've been trawling through the comments and can't find a single person claiming that it's aliens. I'm so happy.
    As for Dashlane, who needs it? I store all my passwords as 32 numbers encoded into the digits of pi. Well, I don't actually do the encoding; the digits are there already, I just select an index point, usually starting with infinity minus my birth date squared. Retrieving them is trivial, although it does take an infinite amount of time every time. Luckily time loops at infinity, so in reality it seems to only take a fraction of a second.

    I heard, when working for the JV SAAB-Univac company in Sweden (Stockholm) as a service engineer a funny story. At a major computer centre (this was back in the 70s) people experienced intermittent disturbances that came and went almost randomly, and seldom when the engineers were there.
    The solution came one day when an engineer, trying to think out a possible cause looked out through a window in the facility ..... and looked straight into the air control radar at the Bromma Airport in Stockholm.
    (It can possibly be an urban myth, but with miles of cables and copper tracks on a dozillion PCB’s and a huge mainframe computer where timing is crucial for correct operation, why not?)

    Great video. Love the Tangent Cam backups. One could so easily be stuck in Tangent Cam mode, especially when explaining to me.
    Anyway, completely at a tangent to the subject you were talkng about [sorry], how about doing a video on single frames planted into commercial films and adverts to promote subliminal responses in the viewer? This was a controversial subject decades ago. Of course, you'll tell me you've already done such a video. My main weakness - bad timing. 😁
    BTW, how long did the 'foreshadowing' harmony take to do? Not quite Beach Boys standard, but pretty good. 😎

    • @joescott
      @joescott  5 років тому +3

      As someone with a background in marketing, the topic of subliminal messages is actually pretty interesting. It's way more subtle and sophisticated than just sticking one frame in a video, but it is a thing.

  • @Matthew_Holton
    @Matthew_Holton 5 років тому

    The FRB signal structure looks a little like what you would get if a pulsar (oriented away from earth) fell into a black hole. As the pulsar fell in ward the angle of its jet would change anyone watching from the appropriate direction would see a single fast high energy radio burst. The gravity of the black hole would also account for the doppler effect seen in the signal. ..Just a thought.

    Principle In-form-ation or substitutions in mathematical formulae, active integration in conception, works for all scaling by default.
    There's a description of the process by which planets form, interact and shift orbits by harmonic frequency modulation - interference, all due to "gravity".
    The same principle applies in physics as chemical bonding, and every possible combination of resonances and frequencies, zero-infinity temporal superposition, in the logic of quantization - modulation.., that is all about QM-Time Principle of e-Pi-i Superspin it is required to know intuitively before you look-see at what you get in evidence, on which to base theory in continuous creation connection.

    My theory is pulsars emitting radio waves aimed at a black hole in between us and the pulsar, the wave stealing angular momentum and being slung at earth. Most of the waves would just get eaten by the black hole leaving only a small percentage to escape and a smaller percentage to be pointed at earth.

    A strange thing happened to my Landrover TD5. It was left on my drive for a long time (in France) and the battery ran down (fairly normal occurance). However when I jumped it, I had nothing, I mean nothing, rien, zero! A landy mechanic came with his computer and did his thing and nothing. The reason, apparently, the old BMW security system in the TD5 was susceptible (when the battery was particularly low but with enough power to receive, it was a fairly precise algorithm apparently) to the gendarmes burst transmission signal, so, the battery was the exact power level, the gendarmes were at exactly the right range (no more than 10 metres) and they were transmitting at exactly this moment, to kill my land-rover system. It never moved again. Needless to say, that system was changed.
