That ethernet cable is going to rot very quickly. It is only meant for use under your desk in an office. You need outdoor rated cable if you want it to last.
I was a bit surprised when they just ran it across the roof. I've done that before in central Texas with outdoor rated cat5 and still had to replace it after 2 years.
I was going to say about the same thing-check to see if the jacketing is UV-stabilized. Also not sure how windy it gets there but might turn into a reed in the wind and die early from that or in conjunction with the ultraviolet light
I have to agree with most of the commenters. The ideal way to do this is run conduit and out door, plenum grade cable that's UV resistant. Any perferation of steel should atleast have a grommet to prevent chafing of wires.
I might suggest you also invest in a good size UPS to power the satellite, router and NVR. When there is a power outage you would be most vulnerable. I'd look for one that can run your systems for 3 hours...long enough for you to get there and for most power outages. BTW thanks for doing these videos...they have been extremely helpful (and entertaining).
You’re welcome. And thanks for that. I’m not a huge fan of the satellite but the cable companies said they would have to do construction and run the wire underground because they aren’t allowed to go over other properties and that would cost 20k which is insane so bad to go the satellite which is kinda slow
There's a huge peace of mind from good CCTV. The one time out of 100 when bad stuff happens, you can at least mitigate quickly. The 99 times when you look and all is well, are priceless 😄
Nice. So far the cameras are great especially for the price point. Last ones I bought was a 36 channel for $4000. What a waste that was. I’ve had nothing but good experiences with the monex terminals. No hold deposit like cryptopay and gets direct deposit into account the next day. My uncle Stewart just switched his 3 car washes over to monex.
Looks like a nice system for your use case. One recommendation, not sure how well those ethernet cables will hold up on top of the roof like that, might want to find a way to run them with out being in the direct sun if possible. I would also make sure they are outdoor rated cable.
Your carwash looks super nice man id totally use it exclusively. I appreciate people taking pride in tbeir business. Id get outdoor rated Ethernet cable tho, and also make a drip loop as moisture will get into those waterproof connectors in a matter months.
The sheet metal in your roof is going to rub through the wires. Think about the vibration from loud exhaust or big bass 🔊. Won't happen immediately but still. Rubber grommet would work. Or what I would do is cut a small piece of air hose and wrap that around the area. Those things are certainly built for heavier duty jobs that wire protection lol.
Love the video as always! I suggest a head or chest mount for your recording device to capture better footage. But please keep the great videos coming.
You could have gone with a little better system for maybe 10% more that would have included analytics which are great for small business owners. They can read license tags and you can track how often each car comes per month. See your repeat customers. See how often they used the vac if their tag popped up on that cam. All downloadable instant data. How many cars and people come and go. For how long they stay. What hours the most people come. Motion controlled lighting. Add automations. Like close the gates every night at 10pm unless there’s a person or car inside. Some will even do fire detection.
The only bit of advice I would say is at least put the cabling and some sort of conduit even if the condo it's just sitting on the roof because the sun will set their in the periodic very quickly and start opening it up and your security camera system is only as good as its weakest link now you don't necessarily have to put the conduit strap down to anything in particular but at least put it through some outdoor conduit whether it's metal pipe plastic or something like that to keep the sun off of it that'll help your watertight connections even more and if down the road you choose to hard pipe everything at run conduit to each individual one junction boxes and all that that is fine but for the initial part while you're figuring it all out where you want them all to go and how it's going to work at least put some conduit on the outside with the cables are in direct sunlight to help protect them
Any reason you keep the original car wash names and don't change them all to something similar. So if people love 1 car wash lets say, but live close to another. They know where all of yours are by a simple google search?
Dude, that's horrible camera installation. I install cameras and those cables that they give you are crap. Its most likely stranded cable and its for indoors only. Upgrade to solid Cat5e cable. You can use Cat6 but its over kill for cameras. Also don't leave those cables outdoors like that, the sun and elements will eat it up. You have to use electric conduit. Also use camera mounts as well. If you're going to do something, do it right.

also you should be able to cover the cable by routing it through the middle of the mount.
metal + rubber + hot sun. its def going to melt.

I guess could just run it through conduit

Too much work 🤣
@@CarWashChronicles Alittle work now saves you alot of work later.

That or anything that can serve as a line conditioner.
@@CarWashChronicles Are you using Starlink for Sat Internet?

Excellent video.. excellent job on the install 💯
Cheers 🍻

Could run them though some pvc pipe or conduit to keep out of the weather
Happy to change the ones that go out every few years.
@@CarWashChronicles Outdoor rated cable isn't too much more. I don't think it's worth re running every couples years but we're all different.
In lieu of tape, you should use dielectric grease to waterproof the connections. It's non-conductive but stays flexible and semi-liquid.
Cable on the roof?? wont last. Yes indeed needs to be outdoor cable. UV and birds will love that cable!! Cameras always a plus!!!

When you're testing the two-way... I thought you were going to say "Get to the choppa!!!"
🤣dam I should’ve

None of that matters to me. Close the gates? Not sure what that has to do with my car wash.
some cameras are accesible by the internet, publicly and you might want to make sure your cameras are private
I love your vidéos 🇧🇪
Thanks Adrien
Do all car washes have security system and are they allowed to have cameras inside their self wash area?
You Don't want to move the DVR ones it has power

They’re all named the same “CAR WASH” lol.
Dude, you should start making some videos like the…. “gas station encounters” channel haha
🤔
Bullet cameras are for longer distance 🙂
The bullet cameras I have at my other car wash seem to zoom the same but I guess
cctv?
Lorex is better , but at least you got a better system
Big hole in the roof??
What’s the worst that’s going to happen. Other then maybe the wire getting rubbed though cause of the sharp edges

If I get 3 years out of it like my other ones I’ll be happy. There’s no right or wrong. Just personal preference.
