I love and miss Robert osbourne. So glad to see You both talking about the movies and telling people how wonderful they were , and about the lives of the actors. Keep on keeping on!

I'm not jealous at all that you all get to do this 😂 Sounds like such a fascinating time. The Noir City event is on my list of events I'd love to get to at some point as well. Fantastic show y'all ❤

Pea green. How excitable. Robert Osborne is one of the blessed. As we all are, to have you two. ADORE "The Good Fairy," Margaret Sullavan forever, just saying. Our personal Gail Russell fave is still "The Uninvited," Stella by Starlight, whatchagonnado? Thelma Ritter is God. "Double Indemnity" is immortal. Ditto "Rear Window." Tritto, (tied) "The Asphalt Jungle," "The Big Heat." Quadritto (tied),"In Cold Blood," "The Little Foxes." Thank you, Steve and Nan. Cannot wait for your updated takes. Woohoo, hoorah, hopla. 🎉👏🎥💞

Thank you so much, David. I LOVE "The Uninvited" too. Such a fantastic film! Every time I hear Stella By Starlight, I think of Gail Russell. 🙂

Completely agree about Russell (and her connection to "Stella by Starlight") in "The Uninvited" being her career highlight, but "Night Has a Thousand Eyes" is up there IMO, as well as her change-of-pace work opposite Alan Ladd in "Calcutta." I wrote about "The Uninvited" on my blog ("And Your Little Blog, Too") around Halloween last year, largely to pay tribute to the lovely, unique screen presence of Gail Russell- there really has never been anyone quite like her in films.

Been going to the TCM Festival for a lot years- last year I even stayed at a hotel nearby to take in more films. Really miss Robert Osborne- it's just not the same without him (as you mention), although it's still great to see classics on a big screen. Also, the gorgeous Hollywood Legion Theater is not being used as a venue this year- hope it comes back in the future. Thanks for doing this video and reminding me it's coming up this week. I'm going to try to get up there and in the standby line for Lesley Ann Warren at the "Clue" screening on Thursday night, at least.

I miss Bob so much. He was TCM. But I am grateful for that TCM is still around and promoting these great films we all love so much.

I think the thing i miss most about Bob is that his obvious love and respect for all the classic films. I think Ben is cool and is probably a wonderful guy but to me he sometimes comes across as smirking and condescending. Alicia to me feels like a woke lecturer that always has to bring the room down by lecturing to us how politically incorrect some films are. I dont know if this is her fault or she has to follow a script. Eddie is wonderful . You can tell how much he loves and respects the films he shows.. This is just my 2 cents thought but yeah, Bob is very much missed by me

@@tracyotrhuiskamp1012 And looking at the schedule this year, I don't know, of the newer people you mention, who is even going to be there for the screenings. It really isn't the same without Bob- he led the way every year for the TCM festival and was present throughout. Update: I did see Ben conversing with guests at one of the book signings and found out he did interviews at some of the bigger events, they just didn't list him on the schedule. Also glimpsed Eddie at a signing, but I'm not sure where he presented.

@@FromBeneathTheHollywoodSign Made it to four movies during the festival- "In Cold Blood" on Thursday, "Annie Get Your Gun" (nitrate print) on Saturday, and "Lavender Hill Mob" and "Model and the Marriage Broker" on Sunday. Saw Steve pass by while waiting for "Annie," but I didn't want to hinder him on his way to "The Big Heat," so mum was the word. Also went to a couple book signings- Billy Dee Williams still looks fantastic!

So many good movies slated for this year. I was intrigued about "The Prisoner of Shark Island". One of my favorite places on earth is Key West and if you go to the Dry Tortugas, where Fort Jefferson is, they have the whole story of Dr. Mudd, including the cell where he was kept and the story of the yellow fever epidemic. I will definitely put the movie on my list.

In re the Pop Quiz question: I was at the first TCM festival in 2010. My recollection is that Mel Brooks got his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, but that there was no hand and footprint ceremony the first year. In 2011, however, Peter O'Toole got his hand and footprints at the then-Grauman Chinese (now TCL) Theater forecourt. I was there to witness that.

@@FromBeneathTheHollywoodSign Well, the date on Mel's print in the photo shows September 8, 2014. The first TCM festival was 2010, so my conclusion is that Mel got his "prints" in 2014, four years after the first festival. Also, the festival is held in April, and the prints were done in Sept. 2010 was also the 50th anniversary of the Walk of Fame, and Robert Osborne officiated.

To cull from a movie classic, as Ann-Margret states in "Bye, Bye Birdie": "Times are changing Mom- you go along, or else you're out of it." They're having to move up to the 1970's and beyond as far as getting big name guests, who were actually involved in the filmmaking, to attend the screenings. However, I completely agree that when the TCM Festival started, the titles you mentioned would have fallen under a "New Classics" moniker if they were shown. I'm so glad I was able to go to the TCM Festival early on, when Bob and a lot of classic movie stars we've lost were still around to attend and reminisce. Ann-Margret did show up last year for "Bye, Bye Birdie," so at least there are still some icons around for pre-1970 output at the festival.

@@slc2466 U r so lucky to have attended back then. I sometimes wish to go to the festival, but i have a huge collection of true classics, so that is a comfort, although i would love to c a nitrate/ 35mm print on the big screen. I also dont like that u r not guaranteed a seat at any of the. Films and u have to wait in a huge line. I probably would prefer eddies film noir festivals or a smaller festival like in Rome ny

@@tracyotrhuiskamp1012 Right, it's great to live in the L.A. area and have other options to see screenings and the filmmakers. The Egyptian is set up to show nitrate prints, so I'm pondering maybe going up tomorrow to try to get into "Annie Get Your Gun." Saw "In Cold Blood" last night and it wasn't too crowded but, as you mention, you never know what the line is going to be like. I usually get in via the standby line, but it's last minute of course (never forget a few years ago getting into a packed screening of "Vertigo," and as I entered the theater Kim Novak was walking offstage at the end of her interview, so definitely no guarantees).
