Interesting list . I had Ultimate Spider man and Space Ghost at the top of my list but unlike 2023 , there were a Helluva lot to choose from . 2024 was a bounce back year for the industry and hopefully 2025 keeps it going . Happy New Year Wes .
Excellent list. I haven't read Green Lantern or Flash Gordon, but everything else is spot on. Can't think of anything I would add or take away. Happy New Year, everyone.
Everything Conan for me. Amazing. Ghost Machine and the energon universe are right there too. That issue 7 of Redcoat made me tear up a little with Albert Einstein. I whole heartedly agree with Rook. I feel he should have started drawing this over a year ago so we could keep reading.
1. Conan the Barbarian 2. Rook Exodus 3. Transformers 4. Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees 5. Green Lantern 6. All things G I Joe by Josh Williamson 7. The Sacrificers 8. House of the Unholy 9. Geiger 10. Feral Those top 5 could be number 1 on any given day. I went with Conan for this reason: Zub is doing something I’ve never seen before. He’s telling his story out of sequence, zipping throughout Conan’s life while still doing a great deal of world building and characterization. Great year. Honorable mentions would be Worlds Finest and Flash Gordon.
Conan, Green Lantern and Space Ghost were all surely in my top 5. Rook never got me hooked, I wasn't really interested in the concept, but Im still enjoying Geiger as much. My fifth one would be the mini series of Predator vs Wolverine, really well done.
So happy to see some of my favorite books of the year on your list as well. I was totally did not expect Rook Exodus to be the best Ghost Machine title. But, let's be honest they are all great. Also, Space Ghost....wow did not see it coming. Makes me excited for David Pepose's upcoming Speed Racer title in May 2025.
Thanks for the list! I've been appreciating you and your team's listing of the best comics instead of only complaining about bad ones. I'm so glad that Space Ghost and Flash Gordon are decent books, as they've been favourites of mine since childhood. But I wouldn't have taken the leap without your recommendations. Keep it up! I'd love to see Blackstarr come back as a book, movie or animated property. It was another favourite from my childhood that may be due for a rebirth. Here's hoping!
Down to the wire on the post. Great stuff this year Wes and Thinking Critical crew, great recommends and discussions. Looking forward to 2025, not the least of which, DOOMFACE.
Some interesting recommendations there. Guess I know what I'll be reading going into 2025, especially with Rook: Exodus ahead of GL. Thank you for all your hard work in 2024, Wes! Here's hoping comics will get better in 2025, and Happy New Year!🎆🥂
Batman Off-World,The Ice Cream Man and EC Epitaphs From The Abyss were my favorite comics from 2024. Happy New year Wes and for everybody of the channel.
Our top 2 are the same books, just a different order. Fabok's art is so damn good, but as a GL fan, I've been very happy with the Adams run, and it's #1 for me.
I love the TMNT: Saturday Morning comics. Either the Miyamoto Usagi comics r great. Same with Space Usagi, the new IDW TMNT comics, Uncanny Valley, Lester of Lesser Gods, Pooh and Bambi, The Hobbit Graphic Novel, Negaduck, Uncle Scrooge and Infinite Dime, The Elvira comics, The Devil Wears My Face, Thundercats, The wrong Earth, Groo comics, Sweet Candy Vigilante, Mangoat and Bunny Man, Dick Tracy, Flesh Eating Cheerleaders, Sonic, The Army of Darkness comics, Animal Pound, Lilo and Stich, Disney Villains, Disney Hercules, Lego Ninjago, Darkwing duck comics, Garbage pail Kids, I Hate Fairyland, Redcoat (need 2 catch up with that 1 though), Geiger, etc. Of the ones mentioned Lobo Cancellation, Wolverine Deep cut, Space Ghost and Transformers (Optimus should do more suplex moves though). Some do look interesting, but haven't read yet. Powerpuff Girls, Chtulu Cat, Voices in My Head, The Goon, Gatchaman, Toxic Avenger, Plastic - Death and Dolls, Defenders of Earth, Kosher Maffia, Kiva, Spawn Kills Every Spawn, Cult of Lamb comics, Cruel Universe, Biker Mice from Mars, Garfield, Vlad Dracul, Falling in Love on path to Hell, etc.
My top 10 are : 1. Transformers, 2. Green Lantern, 3. Geiger, 4. Conan, 5. Superman, 6. Rook Exodus, 7. Red Coat, 8. Incredible Hulk, 9. I Hate Fairyland, 10. Napalm Lullaby
the power of the indies even when comics have got questionable have got some good books that have us thinking a bit differently. im glad to see alot of them step up and be effective... ghost machine may get bigger in 2025 and you gotta love it... hey brah happy new years to you and the team : Gabe, Eric, Jim, Drew, Dylan, Dok, Aaron Big Uel, 2025 we gonna see the channel get bigger - Blessings!
That's pretty close to my own list, but I've got Frankenstein, Dick Tracy and Good Rivals in my top ten. That Frankenstein book was so good, it got me a bit misty eyed. My honorable mentions are the NacelleVerse books, they started off rocky, but are they're getting better and better with title. Same with that new Toxic Avenger comic and Gatchaman is really sold.
Impeccable Top 4, Wolverine Deep Cut making the list was a total mercy inclusion for Marvel (forgettable after issue one) and where's the love for the incredible Dick Tracy series? Thanks for a good year of content - see you next year.
Most of my list is same as yours! I would just put savage sword of Conan higher! But i love ghost machine and energon too! Oh DC has been on fire in 2024! Jeremy stuff and otherwise. I met him this year at a con. He is an amazing human being too
You mentioned Halo and Hornsby… I’m not sure how I feel about it yet but I trust Tomasi to deliver. It’s kinda a twist on the child swap from Fourth World.
Hi Wes Happy NEW YEAR !!!!🥳🎆🎆🎆. What are your most anticipated new titles of 2025 ? Mine are: MARVEL: -Deadpool/Wolverine by Benjamin Percy -Deadpool kills the Marvel Universe One Last Time by Cullen Bunn (Comes out 2 days before my 27th birthday Booyah!!!) -Cable Love and Chrome by David Pepose -Ultimate Wolverine by Chris Condon -Weapon X-men by Joe Casey -What if...? Mickey & Friends became The Fantastic Four -What if...? Mickey & Friends became The Avengers DC Comics: -Jeremy Adams pulling double duty on Aquaman & Green Lantern Corps -Adventures of Superman The Book of El by P.K.Johnson -Batman Hush 2 by Jeph Loeb P.S you should do a long video review of What if...? with Disney characters especially since both Donald-Wolverine and Donald Thor ones we're released in celebration of Donald Duck's 90th Anniversary with the former celebrating Wolverine's 50th anniversary as well. Huh two characters who are prone to temper , and their birthdays coming out the same year ? Why not make a special comic to celebrate such an occasion. Oh wait a minute they did and it was great.
Top 10 Comics of 2024 10. Red Coat 9. Street Fighter vs. Final Fight (FCBD 2024) 8. One Piece (Vol. 105 - 107) 7. Superman 78: The Metal Curtain (2023, #5) 6. Duke (2023, #2 - #5) 5. Junkyard Joe (2023 TPB) 4. Geiger (2023 TPB, 2024 series) 3. Rook: Exodus 2. Transformers (2023) 1. Ghost of the Badlands Honorable Mentions: Eye Lie Popeye Doom (one shot) Kamen America (Vol. 9) Halo and Hornsby Lobo Cancelation Special
I own about everything on this list. I can't just say I missed out on Space Ghost, because outside of grabbing a 1st issue just for the Hell of it...I just didn't trust Dynamite.
Dazzler... just kidding. Some here I haven't read so will check out. Thanks Wes. My number 1 for 2024 was probably Duke. Other mentions: Blood Squad 7, GI Joe (Hama version) and Deadpool Team up (Liefeld) was good silly fun.
Exactly ! And while he did have a second run on X-Men after his original one ended, that didn't last that long either (it added a few years at best if you were to combine X-Men: Forever and X-Men: The End) AND was more of a continuation of what he started so at most, Claremont wrote 20 years of X-Men content if you rounded everything up and disregard the long break in the middle of it all. Ironically, Krakoa produced more X-Men content in under 5 years than Claremont did in his entire first and second run (sadly).
Grommets The Deviant Absolute Batman Blood Brothers Mother Transformers Paranoid Gardens TMNT The Last Ronin 2 Re-Evolution Batman The Last Halloween Usagi Yojimbo Stand Still Rifters Barfly The One Hand & Six Fingers Dick Tracy Patra Night Club 2 Blood & Fire Ain’t No Grave Falling in Love on the Path to Hell My favourite comic books of 2024 🫶🏼
The only comics of 2024 I've read are The Goon mini series and Transformers. Transformers has been consistently good, from art to the characters. The series and Transformers one helped to revive my passion for the franchise. The Goon mini series has been pretty good but it feels rushes in certain places and there is not enough Goon. After listening to your recommendations I am going to check out Flash Gordon and The dead machine comics.
I'd go with GL as number 1, Rook is undeniable but Adams' Green Lantern basically hooked my on a character I'd never looked at before. So much so I've gone back and started reading the Johns run(with plans to read the Venditti run as well). Great list though, I had all of these on my pull list. I'd probably move up those Millar books and put Geiger on the list as well.
Half of these comics are on my Pull List. The nostalgia books have been really good - Space Ghost and Flash Gordon. Defenders of the Earth is starting to pick up steam. Rook: Exodus got recommended to me by Matt Ward, credit where credit is due, and it's the comic I didn't know that I wanted. It's 80s toy cartoon comics done right. It's M.A.S.K. meets US1 meets Nocterra. Ghost Machine is a great imprint!
Health and happiness to you and your family, Wes. Some of my picks for best comics of 2024: Green Lantern, World's Finest, Redcoat, Geiger, Flash Gordon, Superman, Rook: Exodus. and on the strength of your recommendations, I will be checking out Transformers, Duke, G.I. Joe, and more Millar world books (you got me to read the incredible Big Game). Thank, Wes. This is the best comic book analysis channel on you tube!
No you can’t do that Wes, you can’t put 2 comics at number 10, that’s cheating, and we’re not letting you away with it just because you told us you’re cheating, Doom is off the list.
Being a comics fan right now feels like being a fan of a bad sports franchise. Bad things everywhere but the good things that did happen are hard to miss
Ultimate Spider-Man is at the top of my list. I thought it was better than Green Lantern and Rook Exodus, although I would have Rook in my top 10. I'd probably have Fantastic Four and Absolute Wonder Woman in my top 10 as well
Should have added Madripoor Nights in with Deep Cuts. Or at least mentioned it because I can’t remember if all of it came out in 2024. Anyway, Claremont has done the only x-books I’ve liked recently. He’s not what he was but he’s better than anyone they’ve got on a main book. I’d go back to the Neo days in a heartbeat compared to today’s shit
Ghost Machine titles, Energon Universe, Conan,Space Ghost,Jonny Quest, JSA, Ultra Mega,Popeye, Dick Tracy,Usagi Yojimbo and Hulk! Herculoids in February and I don’t care what the big 2 do in 2025 ! Been there and done that but you never know?? I don’t have a top ten these are books I enjoy reading and looking forward to what’s next?? Happy New Year to you and your family and the celebrity panel! I don’t always agree with you guys but there’s nothing wrong with a different perspective on what you comics you like 👍! We need to bring in as many new readers as possible! That’s what’s important! 🙏❤️👋
1. Transformers (what comics are all about) 2. World’s Finest (has been consistently excellent for over two years) 3. Green Lantern ( just epic) 4. Predator vs Wolverine ( get it. It’s good!) 5. Shazam 1-9 (the issues Mark Waid wrote, just good, with excellent art) 6. Batman Full Moon (man, a sleeper hit imo) 7. Superman (Williamson goes a bit too woke with it at times but still it has been ambitious) 8. Cobra Commander (very good miniseries, get it) 9. Space Ghost (really good straightforward sci-fi storytelling ) 10. DEADLY TALES OF THE GUNSLINGER ( just came out and it’s horror western at its best) Trust me my list is better!! 😈
Deadly Tales of the Gunslinger is great. It's only been issue #1. But I really enjoyed it. I actually added it on a whim and am so glad I got a copy. Void Rivals is great. The Moon Is Following Us. It is a really heartfelt story. If you have kids, you really should read it.
I like Rook. It ended a bit abruptly but still enjoyed it. But I'm more excited by the DC Finest reprints. However, the best book I bought in 2024 was Batman Year One Artist's edition! It is a continued source of inspiration.
I don’t remember you talking about Space Ghost at all this year, I’ve probably just forgotten. But I knew the top 4 would be there, although I thought Green Lantern was number 1, but Geoff Johns deserves the number 1 spot, he’s just the best writer in comics.
Your list was pretty good. Here are my Top 10 comics of 2024: 1. Ultimate Spider-Man 2. Transformers 3. Conan The Barbarian 4. Green Lantern 5. Rook Exodus 6. Ultimate X-Men 7. DOOM 8. Flash Gordon 9. Ain't No Grave 10. Spider-Man: Shadow Of The Green Goblin
Ultimate Spider-man(its been great every issue), Batman/Superman Worlds Finest, Batman and Robin Year One, Ultimate X-Men, Ultimates, Absolute Batman, Green Lantern, Justice League Unlimited
For me: 1. Transformers 2. Night Club 2 3. Lady Mechanika: Devil In The Lake 4. Redcoat 5. Geiger 6. Nemesis Reloaded 7. Conan 8. GI Joe: ARAH 9. Hyde Street 10. Green Lantern And I say all that as a former Marvel Zombie. I can't honestly place anything from them in my Top 10 for 2024. Outside of Get Fury and Silver Surfer Rebirth, nothing even comes close to breaking into it. Deadpool Team Up is kinda fun, but it's just entertaining fluff. Incredible Hulk suffers on the issues Nick Klein or Travel Foreman aren't doing the artwork, so that doesn't make my Top 10 either. Honourable mentions: Our Bones Dust, Lobo Cancellation Special and of course Rook: Exodus. If I hadn't enjoyed the first 2 issues of Hyde Street so much (way more than I thought I would) Rook: Exodus would have been in there for sure. Hard choice to leave it out. Happy New Year Wes!

I gotta “fix myself” and get that Space Ghost series. I am with you on the rest of the list
When I saw Green Lantern as #2 I was like 🤨 but when I saw Rook as #1 I was like 🥳
Redcoat and Transformers are my top 2. I’m loving Redcoat from Ghost Machine
Thanks for giving indies their time to shine and happy new years mate.
Glad to see shoutouts for Flash Gordon and Conan!
Rook is on my TBR list for sure.
Guess I'll have to give Rook a try. Thanks for sharing your favorites of the year. I loved the Doom one shot

Happy New Year, everyone.
Flash Gordon is good. Even the Quarterly.
Happy New Year, Wes, and to everyone, your guests and your viewers!
I think my favorite books this year were Rook: Exodus, GI Joe: ARAH, and Dick Tracy. I like all of the Ghost Machine books.
Hit the nail on the head for me. Rook: Exodus was my favorite book of the year.
Void Rivals and Transformers is on my list.
Been waiting for this.
Everything Conan for me. Amazing. Ghost Machine and the energon universe are right there too. That issue 7 of Redcoat made me tear up a little with Albert Einstein. I whole heartedly agree with Rook. I feel he should have started drawing this over a year ago so we could keep reading.

10. Feral
Those top 5 could be number 1 on any given day. I went with Conan for this reason: Zub is doing something I’ve never seen before. He’s telling his story out of sequence, zipping throughout Conan’s life while still doing a great deal of world building and characterization. Great year. Honorable mentions would be Worlds Finest and Flash Gordon.
God bless! Happy New Year! Here’s to continued excellence in content and better books in 2025!
Conan, Green Lantern and Space Ghost were all surely in my top 5. Rook never got me hooked, I wasn't really interested in the concept, but Im still enjoying Geiger as much. My fifth one would be the mini series of Predator vs Wolverine, really well done.

Rook, Flash Gordon, Night club, Green lantern, Nemesis, Magic Order to name a few
Great List! Happy New Year! Here’s to another solid year to Wes, Drew & the rest of the TC crew! 🙏
Jeremy Adams being one up by the guy who made me fall in love with Green Lantern. Only fitting
Deep Cut is the only one I didn't read. Amazing, s-tier, top notch top 12 list!
Great Top 10 list, Wes! Thank you for all the awesome videos this past year. Wishing you a wonderful 2025 ahead!! 🥳🥳🥳

100% agree with you, Rook Exodus.
One comic I loved this year was Beyond Mortal by Cullen Bunn. It’s a fantastic lovecraftian superhero tale.
Reading everything from #8 to #1, great list!!
All the Lady Death & Hellwitch releases, Coffin Comics never disappoints.
Impeccable Top 4, Wolverine Deep Cut making the list was a total mercy inclusion for Marvel (forgettable after issue one) and where's the love for the incredible Dick Tracy series? Thanks for a good year of content - see you next year.

Energon Universe is a delight and Flash Gordon is Tom King's Mystery in Space done RIGHT.

Some here I haven't read so will check out. Thanks Wes.
My number 1 for 2024 was probably Duke.
Other mentions: Blood Squad 7, GI Joe (Hama version) and Deadpool Team up (Liefeld) was good silly fun.
Claremont wrote x-men for 16 years ! From 1975-1991
I didn’t read any Marvel or DC this year so the only thing we have in common is Transformers. I would say Void Rivals was pretty good too.

My favourite comic books of 2024 🫶🏼
I don't want any other artist to fill in on Rook Exodus. I will be fine with delays but Fabok's art is irreplaceable.
Agreed. Anyone else drawing that book would take me out of it.
Space Ghost!🖤🤍
Rook: Exodus is mine. Great art and a new, unique story and characters.
Is Immortal thor any good?
The only comics of 2024 I've read are The Goon mini series and Transformers. Transformers has been consistently good, from art to the characters. The series and Transformers one helped to revive my passion for the franchise.
The Goon mini series has been pretty good but it feels rushes in certain places and there is not enough Goon.

have you read the tierri sabertooth series, it's an old school writer doing a flashback story about sabertooth becoming an enforcer to the mob
No Nottingham? Blasphemy!
Solid choice for the first book. Really looking forward to the second arc.
Half of these comics are on my Pull List. The nostalgia books have been really good - Space Ghost and Flash Gordon. Defenders of the Earth is starting to pick up steam.

No you can’t do that Wes, you can’t put 2 comics at number 10, that’s cheating, and we’re not letting you away with it just because you told us you’re cheating, Doom is off the list.
I haven’t read it yet. Happy new years
Bro chill it's just a personal top 10 list
😆
@@kingofparodies1 Geez dude, it’s a joke, lighten up.
Being a comics fan right now feels like being a fan of a bad sports franchise. Bad things everywhere but the good things that did happen are hard to miss
Rook is my number 1 as well.
Pigeon...he's a Pigeon, not a Penguin
I think jim zub would do great on moon knight
Transformers is the number one book for me.
Is nobody gonna talk about ronin rising from frank miller?
D*mmit Wes! Space Ghost passed me by. I've got to find it.
Ultimate Spider-Man is at the top of my list. I thought it was better than Green Lantern and Rook Exodus, although I would have Rook in my top 10.
I'd probably have Fantastic Four and Absolute Wonder Woman in my top 10 as well
I just wish that we got more issues of Rook Exodus! It will be like 5 months with no new #7.
No Mention of Void Rivals That's Wild!!!

I don’t believe it, there were 10 good comics this year?!?! I’m shocked. 😮
If you read more than the same 10 books, you’d know.
Indie comics had more wins this year than any of the Big 2 did.
Shut up. Just shut up.
Rook: Exodus my book year too
Anyone who’s digging the Sacrificers really should check out remender and Fumaira’s other work, A Righteous Thirst For Vengeance. It’s damn good.
1. Transformers (what comics are all about)
2. World’s Finest (has been consistently excellent for over two years)
3. Green Lantern ( just epic)
4. Predator vs Wolverine ( get it. It’s good!)
5. Shazam 1-9 (the issues Mark Waid wrote, just good, with excellent art)
6. Batman Full Moon (man, a sleeper hit imo)
7. Superman (Williamson goes a bit too woke with it at times but still it has been ambitious)
8. Cobra Commander (very good miniseries, get it)
9. Space Ghost (really good straightforward sci-fi storytelling )
10. DEADLY TALES OF THE GUNSLINGER ( just came out and it’s horror western at its best)
Trust me my list is better!!
@ tks for the recommendation. Check out my review of Gunslinger when you get a chance. 👍🏻
I'ld like to say Conan was amazing this and had a Thorgal feel. If you never read Thorgal have a look. They are available at Europe Comics.
Done 2 comic shows in last 4 months. Can't give away doom or transformers........ridiculous
Thundercats.
I like Rook. It ended a bit abruptly but still enjoyed it. But I'm more excited by the DC Finest reprints. However, the best book I bought in 2024 was Batman Year One Artist's edition! It is a continued source of inspiration.
definitely rook.
I don’t remember you talking about Space Ghost at all this year, I’ve probably just forgotten. But I knew the top 4 would be there, although I thought Green Lantern was number 1, but Geoff Johns deserves the number 1 spot, he’s just the best writer in comics.
Did they fix Flash Gordon so Dale Arden and the female Phantom are no longer a lesbian couple?
Your list was pretty good. Here are my Top 10 comics of 2024:
1. Ultimate Spider-Man
2. Transformers
3. Conan The Barbarian
4. Green Lantern
5. Rook Exodus
6. Ultimate X-Men
7. DOOM
8. Flash Gordon
9. Ain't No Grave
For me:
1. Transformers
2. Night Club 2
3. Lady Mechanika: Devil In The Lake
4. Redcoat
5. Geiger
6. Nemesis Reloaded
7. Conan
8. GI Joe: ARAH
9. Hyde Street
10. Green Lantern
And I say all that as a former Marvel Zombie.
I didn’t know they had a new space ghost series! I’m collecting that and the new Aquaman series.
Happy New Year, Wes!
