Wowsers, that's a crazy situation. We made ours 2/3 steps as we didn't want to see our cameras bricked by the battery.
Top tip with lithium polymer batteries. If you're not going to use the device for a while, leaving it fully charged will maximise it's storage life.

Yep- I was going to mention but forgot how easy the exchange is with your camera- again I’m shocked at the lack of forethought by Polaroid as this is a significant obstacle to making these cameras last-- ugh.

🍀 I just recommended the lovely Eve's "Year of No Garbage " for purchase to my local Bend, Oregon library. 🌿Bless🕊

    Good info.
Yes, it’s frustrating that some level of longevity wasn’t built in. I find it hard to believe that in the design of this camera, the battery was not discussed. The only conclusion I can reach is that either 2) Polaroid is run and operated by cynical, money-grabbing jerks, or 2) there was no other practical solution.
It does seem that a few hours of a tech’s time disassembling and then reassembling the camera would indeed come close to the cost of just buying a new one.
I was aware of the issue of inaccessible battery before I purchased my I-2, and even with that knowledge, I have zero regrets getting the camera.
I am getting results from this camera that I don’t get from my Leica, Mamiya, Canon dSLR, or Toyo. I love it.
And if it comes to getting another one a few years from now because of a dead battery, all other things being equal, I would. I understand that is not going to be true for everyone.
Thanks for the information. It’s important for people to be aware of this, and needs to be shared.

I just watched it before coming here. Like I said, after seeing thing I now wonder if Apple has shares in Polaroid?

Government doesn't need to be involved. Vote with your pocketbook. It will have a greater impact. At present I will not purchase nor promote current Polaroid products. I very strongly want Polaroid to succeed. I'm not in a financial position to pay for their overpriced excuses. Now 🍀 have a great St Patrick Day 🍀 🌿Bless🕊

I am not the biggest fan of government intervention but in terms of build in batteries, yes please, enforce them to be easily replaceable. It is bad product design if a battery dies and your product is waste...

The iType film prices are better, especially in a 5 pack- I do not think they will ever compete with Fuji on price but the new stock has been very solid.

@@gary344 yes. But the problem is much larger. Good luck finding a smartphone with replaceable batteries. Laptops, Bluetooth speaker, electric toothbrushes, shavers, etc.

Oh I know- my wife wrote the acclaimed book Year Of No Garbage- we have been knee deep in this for many years and it’s one of the reasons I am so disappointed now with the i2.
