I live in Iowa. The producers put out an unpaid casting call to anyone and everyone to be a part of the line of cars seen at the end. My girlfriend and I are somewhere near the middle.
My favorite part is this comment is for the longest time I thought Burt Lancaster was Burt Reynolds and for years I would stare at him trying to figure out how much prosthetics were used to make him look that way. 😂😂😂
How great was his acting in the 1972 scene? All the outstanding traits the reporter and old timers had mentioned, he then easily but convincingly displayed with his soft expressions and open body language. What talent. RIP Burt.
This movie always gets me in the end. Like Ray, my father was a baseball player. He got to pitch in the minor leagues and was going to be brought up to the majors but he blew his shoulder out. He saw talent in me and really started training me. Like Ray, I grew tired of it. I was good but by high school my size topped out at 5'6. I saw the writing on the walls and saw everyone I was better then before become better than I was. We didn't have a falling out but I can remember his sadness when I told him I wasn't going to pursue it. But he understood. He died at only 52 when I was 20. And that last catch scene in this film...What I would give to have a final catch with my dad. Great reaction, ladies.
Likewise, my father liked baseball too. He was 53 when he died 20 years ago, and I was 18. Same, what I wouldn't give to have a catch with Dad again...
I played Baseball for 17 years, I'm 38, but I've been thinking about joining a 35 and older league. Just like Shoeless Joe Jackson said, "I'd play for nothing." In fact, I will pay $$ to play because I love the game so much. Baseball players truly have a unique romance, between them and the game, that is unexplainable.
@move_i_got_this5659 Or maybe that person COULD still play and enjoy a 35 and older baseball league and still do all those things you said. Stop trying to take happiness from people.
I read about Shoeless Joe's case..It was guilt by association, strong evidence he didn't even know what his teammates had done, but they banned him for life anyway. And uniforms from then time looking as good as the ones you see would be worth thousands today..over 100,000 if they're autographed by any player from that era.27:23 You girls were brought to tears by one of the greats, Burt Lancaster, a fitting final role for him. Like most of the best, he got better as he got older. Great cast all around and loved the reactions!
The Commissioner at the time (Kenesaw Mountain Landis) had nearly ultimate power to do whatever he wanted. He banned the players even though they were acquitted in court.
The movie is about redemption and 2nd chance. Saw this movie for the first time in my mid-20s... a big, though guy expting to see a baseball movie. Lost my father when I was 5 and from reveal to end credits I could only cry. No matter how many times I have seen FOD since I am always a blubbering mess at the end. Thank you for your wonderful reaction!
the baseball field was built as a movie set for the film. Since then it has been maintained as a field and a tourist attraction. It is a regular professional baseball game each year. The 2024 game is scheduled in June
2 things.. 1) they do NOT play games on the actual field but on another field built near it and 2) do to more construction around the site (building even more fields) this years game will be held in Birmingham, AL (oldest professional baseball park in America) honoring the Negro Leagues
Love your reactions to this film! Small point, when Shoeless Joe said “I would play for nothing”, he meant that he would play even if they paid him nothing (play for free)
What Moonlight Graham said about dreams is true. Imagine, trying to play professional baseball today, they give Visa's to people from other countries to play. So you are competing with the world for a position on 30 teams, out of 7 billion people. Even if you are good enough, you still will probably get overlooked, "Like a stranger passing by in a crowd."
"Field of Dreams" and "The Natural" are two great films that are built around baseball, yet their stories are not about baseball. Both films feature a good man who is haunted by his past and mistakes that he made. Brilliant story telling.
These are still 2 great baseball movies. And there are more, of course: A League of Their Own, 42, Bull Durham (also with Kevin Costner), The Pride of the Yankees, and Moneyball for starters.
Everyone thinks you got to know baseball to know about this movie. You haven't got to know hardly any at all. All you really need to know is the one small mention of Ty Cobb. Even then, you don't need to know hardly anything at all about him. All you need to know is, great baseball player, terrible human being.
When young Archie Graham is at bat, he is out but the run scores. In baseball, this is called a sacrifice. Just as it was a sacrifice for Doc Graham to step out of the field to save Karin.
I'm surprised you didn't catch the baseball players name when he got in the van "Archie Graham" with Archie being short for Archibald. Also the actor portraying Terrence Mann is James Earl Jones. Most famously know as the voice of Darth Vader from Star Wars.
how could you not know the kid was the doc. in the van he said his name. also when ray first meets him as an old man he actually went back to 1972, you can tell this by the cars, the re elect Nixon poster, and the fact that the theater is showing the godfather. The field was built on a real farm in dyersville, Iowa and has its own gift shop. i own one of the t-shirts they made. To celebrate the 25th anniversary in 2014, cast members, including Kevin Costner, returned to the movie site on Father's Day weekend, June 13 to 15. The weekend's festivities included a Q-and-A with cast members, a baseball tournament with the opening pitch thrown by costner, a screening of the movie and more. also during the summer they have Ghost Sundays on select evenings. During this event, the Ghost Players emerge from the corn and play ball. Visitors are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and sunscreen.
Yeah, I thought the same thing about the kid, I also saw that the fact of him going back in time went over their heads. Can't fault them though, they're watching foreign movies that aren't in their native language.
Don't forget James E Jones is also in The Sandlot, another great baseball movie. More of a "coming of age" kids movie but baseball brings them together. I think the Sandlot is one of the best family movies for kids to grow up with, then when they get a little older they can appreciate Field of Dreams more. Both are great movies.
Dearest Ellie, you’ve watched at least two baseball movies: this and ‘The Sandlot.’ As far as these two, not only was James Earl Jones (The voice of Darth Vader) in both of them but, do you remember the ‘ghost’ of Babe Ruth Sandlot? The same actor played the big teammate of Shoeless Joe; the one who cursed in front of the little girl. The one who talked to both the pitcher and Moonlight Graham, asking “Why’d you throw at the kid?” “He winked at me!” “Don’t wink, kid!”
If you love the game of baseball more than your most things. Baseball is a game of beauty beyond life itself and for this reason this film was created. It was a good film.
Ladies, they actually really made a field in hour and a half professional ball game there once a year in the major leagues and Kevin Costner was the part of the first inaugural game last year. It was pretty cool.✨🌹🌹
This movie literally came true. There never any plans to keep the field, but people did just show up to play catch. There were attemptsvto close the field, but none ever took. To this day the farmouse and field still stands. Additionally, a regulation MLB field has been built on the property and hosts an annual game. (because of construction, the game will be played elsewhere this season).
James Earl Jones monologue about baseball is one of the best written and acted moments in film. Another fun baseball movie to watch is A League of Their Own
In my opinion the most beautiful movie ever made. There needs to be more movies like this.Another beautiful movie if you ladies haven't seen us Good Will Hunting.Robin Williams performance is legendary.
If u don't cry at the end of this, u have no heart! All Kevin Costner sports movies are great! Tin Cup, Bull Durham, one where he's a starting pitcher, Draft Day, and two he is doing a documentary on the greatest pitcher whoever lived, Nolan Ryan!

Hi Miss Ellie & Michelle !!! Happy Valentine's Day Ladies 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹 As Always the like button 🔘 has been Illuminated 😁👍👍😎🤗. My Humble Suggestion lady for you to watch is called ( For Love of the Game ) With Kevin Costner 😊
Major League Baseball I believe owns that land now.once or twice a year they have games there and the players enter through the rows of corn.simply beautiful like the movie

If you want another heart wrenching inspiring story that involves baseball, I’d recommend the free UA-cam series History of the Seattle mariners. The story is more than “winning”, much like field of dreams, we see people go through an incredible story.
My next suggestion for an emotional movie: The Terminal (2004), directed by Steven Spielberg. Tom Hanks is a Bulgarian who is stuck in a airport because his visa was revoked. He lives there, making new friends and falls in love with Catherine Zeta-Jones, a flight attendant. So give it a chance!
The great part about this movie is you don't really need know about Baseball to enjoy it. By the way, Darth Vader doesn't need a toothbrush, he can use the Force.
I've seen it multiple times...still at 47 years of age...wtf does this film even mean? Love my girls reaction to it because after multiple views...multiple interpretations....fuck it.... it's just a feel good film.
They have to react to Dances with Wolves, played and directed by this same actor Kevin Kostner, he won the Oscar for Best Picture and Best Director for Dances with Wolves.
You should do "Dances With Wolves" Extended cut. Not king T'Challa, he was king in 'Coming to America", and he is the voice of Darth Vader in the original films.
So next to the field where this was filmed, there is an MLB regulation field. A few years ago, the league started an annual occasion where they play a game on it
In Iowa the field where they filmed the movie is still there and it’s become a tourist attraction with families from all over the US playing catch with each other Major League Baseball also built a stadium across from the movie set and had played a couple games there with the New York Yankees and Chicago White Sox there’s currently construction going on over there with additional baseball fields a hotel and a future permanent stadium where they might return for future MLB games
Also watch a beautiful love story and baseball, The Natural, and a movie called 8men out. Its about the 1919 Chicago Whitesox. The field was always about him and his dad!!
@@Stogie2112Yeah, his name escaped me due to my 64 year old brain. If his name was Leonardo GaGa Humperdinck, I would have remembered, but it's just James +Earl+Jones. So generic.
I wish i liked more movies. I always love re-watching them with gorgeous Bulgarian girls. I don't expect you to know much about baseball, so this ought to be fun. It's been around for over 150 years so it has a long history with the fans. So nice to witness your reaction.
My favorite movie of all time. Always has been, always will be. I’m an absolute baseball freak though. It’s going to be very interesting to see folks who don’t know as much about baseball react to it, though. Thanks!
I live in Iowa. The producers put out an unpaid casting call to anyone and everyone to be a part of the line of cars seen at the end. My girlfriend and I are somewhere near the middle.
Cool!
They also stated to turn headlights on and off so it would give that flickering effect.
cool 😎
@davemcbroom695 I waved at you in the middle 😀
Yep, no CGI
One of the best parts is the appearance of Hollywood great Burt Lancaster (1913-1994) in one of his last roles as the elderly Moonlight Graham.
My favorite part is this comment is for the longest time I thought Burt Lancaster was Burt Reynolds and for years I would stare at him trying to figure out how much prosthetics were used to make him look that way. 😂😂😂
I agree with you.
Btw, another great later-in-his-career Burt Lancaster role is in the Scottish whimsical comedy, Local Hero.
Burt Lancaster was a circus performer, He was the first man in the world to perform a triple somersault.
This being Lancasters last big-screen role makes his final scene all the more emotional. Especially Liotta's "Hey rookie...you were good."
How great was his acting in the 1972 scene? All the outstanding traits the reporter and old timers had mentioned, he then easily but convincingly displayed with his soft expressions and open body language. What talent. RIP Burt.

Not king T'Challa, he was king in 'Coming to America", and he is the voice of Darth Vader in the original films.
So next to the field where this was filmed, there is an MLB regulation field. A few years ago, the league started an annual occasion where they play a game on it
Any man that tells you he didn't cry at the end of the movie is lying.
Already clicked "Like" on principle alone.
When shoeless, Joe said he would have played for nothing, he was saying that he loved the game so much he would have played for free
I know it's just a movie. But to this day, the cars still come.
After having watched this, you should watch "Eight Men Out". It's about the actual scandal of the banned players who are the 'ghosts' in this movie.
I like to watch Field of Dreams reactions. I skip right to the end to see if they cry. They always cry.
One of my favorites, it is a perfect movie.
Love this film, it’s in my Top 10 👍👏🏻😍🇬🇧
Also watch a beautiful love story and baseball, The Natural, and a movie called 8men out. Its about the 1919 Chicago Whitesox. The field was always about him and his dad!!
Ladies, great review. It's a really nice movie. Check out Casablanca.
Baseball season is almost upon us. Time for more Baseball Movies. You might like Bull Durham with Costner or The Natural with Robert Redford.
Thanks for the video. I enjoyed it.
I look forward to playing catch with my father again. Field of Dreams, from the movie is still there.
You maybe like to react to Society of the snow 😄
I predict tears to come from Ellie and Michelle from this most excellent movie. And this movie has Darth Vader (James Earl Jones) in it.
I have always loved this movie
Kevin Costner made a lot of baseball movies. Bull Durham's probably the best.
watch the clip of kevin costner introducing the field of dreams game they had a couple years back in major leage baseball
they played at the field
I got to play catch with my Dad years ago, so I'm a pretty lucky guy.
Born and raised in Iowa here!!!
The Terrence Mann actor is the voice of DARTH VADER.
His name is James Earl Jones. He was the voice of Vader and Mufasa from "The Lion King".
@@Stogie2112Yeah, his name escaped me due to my 64 year old brain. If his name was Leonardo GaGa Humperdinck, I would have remembered, but it's just James +Earl+Jones. So generic.

the sixth sense
I just watched an interesting film, a forgotten live action Disney produced superhero comedy called "Condorman" (1981).
Is that on Disney+ now? I haven't been able to find that movie for years.
@@Johnny_Socko I rented it on Vudu for 3.99.
Hi Ladies ❤Enjoy 💕Happy Valentine’s Day and have a Nice Day ❣️🌹
if u don't cry when costner asks his dad if he wants to have a catch, u have no soul. sorry homies.
I wish i liked more movies. I always love re-watching them with gorgeous Bulgarian girls. I don't expect you to know much about baseball, so this ought to be fun. It's been around for over 150 years so it has a long history with the fans. So nice to witness your reaction.
❤ the ending reaction.
My favorite movie of all time. Always has been, always will be. I’m an absolute baseball freak though. It’s going to be very interesting to see folks who don’t know as much about baseball react to it, though. Thanks!
Yay! I love this movie! Excited to see you guys watch it.
This film is a classic in every way literally 🥲😇❤🎉
Except the unnecessary politics.
If you watch it, they will cry.
