I appreciate how he engages and dazzles the audience through his confusing plot. But at some point his films have no cinematic value and depth. Plus, they are all made on remarkably similar formulas.
Dreams, in dreams, in dreams, in dreams. Different plots for each dream, rules to follow within each dream, and about 7 main characters - each on their different levels of dreaming.
On face value, Inception should be as complex as a movie can get, viewers are confused by the mammoth of story presented to them but beyond the spectacle, Inception is not a credible form of complexity.
Proper, real complexity is an entirely different thing. It’s one of the most difficult elements to harness in film.
This type of complexity stems not from a confusing plot, but from something deeper. You can find it in films like Roma, Sucker Punch, Fight Club, Blade Runner 2049 and of course, Parasite.
Parasite doesn’t need a complicated plot.
A poor family infiltrate a rich one, experience life as higher classes before uncovering an even poorer family living underneath them both.
So much is communicated through a simply plot. It’s symbolic depictions of class divisions forms a perfect, cohesive plot. It’s substance alone, naturally forms a wonderfully complex film - layers of meaning embedded in every scene.
Comparing this to Inception, so many things happen at once, but none of it is truly complex. Shift past the gimmick, and what real depth is there to be found? The complexity in Inception is surface level. It’s superficial.
Peel away the spectacle and you’re left with a glorified heist film. Sure, it’s brilliant spy heist thriller but it’s not the ‘profoundly meanigful’ masterpiece many perceive it to be.
Complexity in cinema is deep, it allows the viewer to thoroughly analyse the source material and ponder beyond what is shown.
People mistake an abundance of plot devices and multiple on-going storylines as “complexity”, when it is rather just a gimmick.
Peel away the spectacle and you're left with a bureaucratic drama where an entrepreneur wants to destroy his opposition's inheritance by hiring some specialists and a family drama where a depressed husband wants to revive his wife.
I would recommend some more films if you really want to know what proper complexity means:
2001 A Space Odyssey
Full Metal Jacket
Eyes Wide Shut
Apocalypse Now
Schindler's list
Citizen Kane
The Shawshank Redemption
Raging Bull
Taxi Driver
Ex Machina
Annihilation
Gravity
Children of Men
Mad Max: fury road
Watchmen
Etc,, etc,,.
Also, you should watch Mr, Nobody and The Illutionist. These two films had far more perplexing plot than Nolan films. Nolan isn't the only director to make films with perplexing plot. He is just a popular hack. And infact, Inception and Interstellar were rip-offs of Animes.
😂
This is the first time any UA-camr has ever pinned me. Thanks bro.
Correct bro. Nolan fanboys think "the more confusing the more good movie "
@@karangupta1825 I gotta say man Mr Nobody is one of the best sci-fi movie I've ever seen
You're knowledge sharing power is insane
Other movies: got spoilers after watching
Nolan movies: Didn't get spoilers even after watching😂😂😂
Yes 😁 🤣 nobody understand his movies
😂
True because Nolan movies fan legend 😅
Why we love Christopher Nolan because he shows Reality is most Realistic Way
You aren't introduced to quality cinema yet.
@@karangupta1825 😂😂joke
@@karangupta1825 that's your opinion
@@humanfromearth1512 Oh, wow. That's such a well-debatable counter argument.
@@karangupta1825
Please tell us some of your quality cinemas...
Christopher nolans imagination is out of the world really i cant explain in the words 🥺❤️
You neee to know more about movies man..
watch Stanley Kubrick movie and see his imagination
You aren't introduced to quality cinema yet.
Watch atleast one film of Stanley Kubrick and Francis Ford Coppola, your mind will be changed. Or watch films of modern directors like Alfonso Cuaron and Denis Villuenueve. And Nolan films are basically rip-offs of Animes.
Nolan's entire filmography will not stand a chance against Citizen Kane. Which is just one work of Orson Welles.
@@karangupta1825 Except Godfather Coppola hasn't done anything significant. And I include all 3 parts here. The problem with you is you're unable to distinguish many things here. I've watched all directors you mentioned in the previous comments in other parts and Most of them don't stand a chance. Nolan is definitely top 3 of all time. Scorsese is fuck'in one dimensional legendary but he can't get past one genre. Fincher is better than him. For me Nolan, Fincher and Darabont are the best. Rest are just unnecessary hyped directors. And Spielberg is nothing but Rich man's joke. Which is not funny but everyone laughs with that rich man.
Let's not forget Jonathan Nolan. His brother who writes those beautiful dialogues of his films and never even gets the deserving credit.
Hahaha..Indians are fans of Nolan coz he is mainstream..try watching movies like eternal Sunshine..Donnie Darko ..mulholand drive..2001..u ll know..Nolan is good not best
@@siddhartham1973 where you come from another galaxy world love Nolan movie
@@siddhartham1973 bhai India m sbko nolan psnd h q ki baaki directors ke baare m inhe pta nhi yha sirf nolan or marvel chlta h 😂😂
@@shubhamtanwr_ true bhai..like Indian audience acts like a kid who gets to play one good game only coz of idwhat reasons..and then treats it like everything till he is exposed further..
@@siddhartham1973 i have watched those movies but still Nolan Is one of the best.
His Screenplay and Direction is wonderfull
Zimmer completes Nolan.
Hans Zimmer is my favourite 🌃❤️
Same here! Zimmer takes you into a different world through his music.
Specifically time music
Yup, Man of steel 🔥
Pirates Life!
@@albartmardy1512 absolutely!😃
Can you also make one on David Fincher, Martin Scorsese, Zack Snyder ,James Cameron, Steven Spielberg, alfered Hitchcock and Stanley Kubrick.
Clint Eastwood too
Stanley kubrick
a video on David Fincher will be interesting, he is the master of expostion and subtle details. and of course his trademark color palette, that he uses to create atmosphere.
Don't forget Satyajit Ray. The God of Indian Cinema
Ray
There will NEVER be a thing like _Interstellar_ in pop-culture or fiction, for me at least.
It was an emotional rollercoaster, the most emotional movie of Christopher Nolan.
Even Christopher Nolan himself cannot make something like Interstellar again.
Interstellar will always be the best, the greatest and my most favourite movie of all time for me.
I truly regret not watching it in theatre but good this is that in 2014, I was just 11 years old and did not clearly knew what gravity is.
So as I am a physics and mathematics lover now, I am glad I watched it when I had knowledge about Gravity, Theory of Relativity, Black Holes, Wormholes and more....
you should watch 2001 a space Odyssey by Stanley Kubrick
You haven't heard of Stanley Kubrick. And Interstellar and Inception are rip offs of Animes.
2001 Space Odyssey is better
@@walterwhite134 It's often regarded as the greatest films ever made. Most of the big directors agree with that. (Christopher Nolan himself)
@@karangupta1825 yeah I know
Exact opposite of Nolan is Cameron. Please make a video on him.
Cameron: 1. Simple, linear but multi layers. For example Titanic is simple but it has breathtaking visuals, human arrogance, women empowerment, life philosophy, class discrimination so much. His films can enjoy a 14 years old for visuals only and an 60 years old for subtext addressing.
2. Technology: He developed CGI in Terminator 2 and Face capturing 3D in Avatar. Even his biography is named the Visionary.
3. Number of films: Man of quality, only 5,6 Masterpieces he had.
Maybe you don’t know but they both are leos ♌️ . If you are into astrology than you might know that Leos are damn creative.
That goosebumps when you said "Temporarily hi sahi we want to get out of our reality" . Your every videos hit deep man.
Albert Einstein: Time is relative!
Christopher Nolan: Time is my Relative!
Finally great explainer with simple words is back 🙏🙇
O Maay Gwaad...... I wasn't prepare for this masterpiece🔥🔥
Really Najib, sometimes you share great things. This is one of them♥️
I watch Interstellar in IMaX theatre
It was an Awesome experience for me, huge screen. The film is compatible to the theatre.
Hans Zimmer music Was Epic
This is what we call quality over quantity 🔥
Saiman Says : I am the Most Underrated UA-camr
Stuff Hai : Am I joke to you
True hai
Saiman says is nothing but a comedy youtuber..
Perfect line 'Understanding is ecstasy.
Now waiting for Stanley Kubrick
Ek baat jo mujhe sabse achhi lagti hai Nolan ki woh yeh hai ki bhale hi unka concept kitna hi complicated kyon na ho par woh use simple se simple format mein present karte hai (yeh weird sound kar sakta hai) par following, memento aur inception ko hi dekh lo.. Following mein 3 time ek ek karke chalte hai aur teeno mein lead actor ka look time ko differentiate karta hai memento mein bw scenes forward chalte hai air col. Reverse mein. Aur inception ka format toh in sab mein sabse easy to understand hai kyonki film ke pehle aadhe ghante mein aapko max. Information mil jati hai. Toh kehne ka matlab yeh hai ki Nolan confuse karne ki koshish nahi karte hai
There's an anime series called *Monster* . Even if it's name is Monster, it's completely realistic. No supernatural things of super powers or beings.
Basically I am not a weeb, I haven't watched too mych anime, yet.
But, Monster is one of the best PHILOSOPHICAL and PSYCHOLOGICAL work of fiction I have seen tiil now.
It's gold especially for you.
And the gold in that anime is it's antagonist, Johan Liebert, a Nameless Monster.
Naoki hirasawa is a legend
Hey, if you liked monster, try reading berserk ,its a manga ,you might like it
