  • Income Tax is a very important source of revenue for the Government of India and plays a significant role in developing a country. In this video, I, Vivek Bajaj, will clarify how to compute the Income Tax on transactions done in the Stock Market for individuals and corporates.

There are two types of incomes through the stock market on which tax is levied:
    1. Short-term capital gains
    2. Long-term capital gains
I will explain the difference between both and how you can offset your losses.
There are different treatments of the transactions done as an investment or traded regularly in the cash market. The tax on earnings through investment in bonds, mutual funds, and debentures are treated differently than the cash market. I will also discuss the tax treatment for trades in derivatives, currency, and commodities market

It's RIDICULOUS that tax department wants clarification from even people like me who have no job/salary/taxable income. 😂 Anyways, please upload a video on filing Revised/Delayed ITR2, as being a self-learner person with non taxable income, I don't want to waste my 2000 Rupees on a CA's fees. Really helpful video for stock market users. What about the futures and options profit / loss.. what tax attracts on this income & how we can declare this while filling the income tax. Sharing to multiple users as people are making profit but really not aware about this taxation part.

      Yes
Irrespective of anything, if your profit is from short term capital gains (profits from stocks which were in a holding position of more than 1 day and less than 1 month), you need to pay only 15% of it as tax. Simply put, swing trading gains - 15%, day trading gains - 37%, long term capital gains - 0%

One doubt is irrespective of the category such as Intra day, short / long etc earnings of the individuals total income if crosses 2.5 / 5 lac etc.. then only this 10%, 15% taxable slab arises or even if the total earnings from short team investment is say only 3.5 lac then also this 15% is applicable irrespective of total income less than 5 lac or how is it ? considering the person don't have any other income apart form interest form FDs.
