- On occasion your Vitamix machine may freeze and you will scream Help, My Vitamix Stopped Working... or something like that.
If your vitamix just stopped working don't fear because it is a protection mechanism to keep it healthy and strong for decades. There is a coil that that expands when the machine over heats. This coil will shrink when it cools and your Vitamix when turn back on in a short time.
Usually the process takes no longer than 15 minutes but it could take an hour or two. Also, this usually happens when your machine is on low speed. It is rare that the Vitamix stops on high speed.

This guy nailed my problem. I make hummus every couple of weeks. My Vitamix has quit working and frankly it had that weird burnt electrolytic smell too so I figured it had a short somewhere in the winding. Well...give it 15-minutes and it's good to go again. I can't understand why the low speed is the problem but it is. If I can go a about 3 or so it does better usually. I am very glad of the protection circuit but anytime any electric device has a burnt electrolytic type smell my confidence drops for such as he says "lasting 20 or 30-years".
OMG...Thank you Scott! My 3600 stopped working from doing a full container of frozen berries. I allowed it to sit minutes, hours, days, months with trying to see if it would work. In the meantime I searched everywhere in Canada for repair service, even up to yesterday. I forgot to call the 800 number I found. I was looking to buy a new blender today, but thought to give repair for 3600 another shot on youtube. It led me straight to you. I stopped to think for a second and pulled it out from its new home...way back on the counter top. Minutes ago...it was the sweetest sound I heard in months. My 3600 rolled like a charm, Do not give up or throw your old machine out before trying everything and absolutely everything. I almost did, but thanks to Scott she is on the loose. Back to my smoothie. Thanks again.

you just saved my life: I thought my vitamix just broke adown and was about to throw it away, buy another one, or look for the warranty.

Thanks it finally started working again we just got it an I’m a little excited I’m a fat guy who loves smoothies so I just need to learn how to load the thing slowly with proper ingredients first,second,last so thanks a bunch!

I havnt used it for a month put it on my table turned it on and didn’t work so idk how the motor could overhear if I havnt even used it yet
I rarely use my Vitamix but decided to make a smoothie a few days ago. It worked perfectly. Today I put everything in it to make another smoothie and now it won't come on. None of the switches are working. I've only had it for 5 years and it hasn't gotten a lot of use, but would always work. This machine cost over $500. I bought it because I read it could last up to 20 years, very disappointed.
Hi. I have the Professional 300 series. When I turn on the power switch the blades start rotating slowly. Is this right?
Then I have to switch the on off button down to stop, to get the blades to speed up when I turn the button.
And finally when I click the stop button, it does not stop. Can anyone help please?
New machine bought in the UK in September last year.

Ok I feel better too....ours overheated on the first use!
I just got one today and the first blend went perfectly but the second one the blades are barely spinning, I turn it up to speed 10 and its slower then speed 1 was on my first blend! Should I just send it back or is there a quick fix? waiting a half hour didnt work to fix it either.
Started making a smoothie, yes with frozen bananas (one banana cut into 5 sections), small handful of cut frozen strawberries, and half a cut of frozen blueberries, the rest is protein powder, tablespoon each of chia/flax/wheat germ, 7 walnut halves as well as 7 or 6 almonds, water to the top. It was already to the point where it was blending nicely (all ingredients had been chopped to about the size of the wheat germ itself at the biggest), when it stopped, it was smooth enough to drink but I like mines EXTRA smooth, as it was it wasn't that thick even for the viscosity. It just stopped on its own and the light at the "zero" or off position went from on to blinking, came back from errands 3 hours later and it's still on.
Any ideas?
ok had mine for about one month used it like 5 times and the push button has completely stopped working! it lights up but the push button handle is useless. what can it be any suggestions??

The way I see it, I'd probably just plain old unplug the machine after every use, once you've completed what you were making, and after clean up, and what not. Wish I could have learned to do that as opposed to just having it plugged in 24/7. Maybe that's why it worked on my last task, and all the sudden, poof, shut down when it was in the middle of doing something, and wasn't sure. Now I know...and I'll probably try again tomorrow afternoon.
mine had a smoke smell, and it stopped for 20 minutes, then it worked, but the next day, it only worked for 30 seconds and it did it again. Taking it back.
Mine just frozen. I hope it won't last long :-(

The video is weird. So I can answer your question in lay man's terms. The Vitamix is a blender, not a food processor, not a vertical cutter mixer. It is designed to work with liquids, and to emulsify. If you just want to chop vegetables, a food processor works best. OK, so now we know that a Vitamix is just a blender. When you continuously force the Vitamix into doing things that only a commercial machine that costs over $3,000.00 can do, you can expect your blender's life to be shortened considerably. So next time, do the heavy, thick, grunt work sparingly and your Vitamix will last a long time.
This is really annoying. My vitamix 750 sometimes just doesn't turn on. Support team advised that it might be because of overheating, advised just to let it sit, and it does work later. However, not after an hour or two, but after a week or two. This happens randomly, with or without putting it to heavy stress before. Really overhyped thing - I would expect more reliability out of the thing that costs 3x more than the competition.
My pulse switch works..but my main switch doesn't..it's only two years old

My vita mix won’t turn on. It worked fine the day before but this morning it just won’t turn on at all. I tried different outlets and same thing.
