- We all know that cats love boxes and Max is no different. Max also loves attention and to play bite with my hand. He thinks its fun and games. Don't worry, no human was injured during the filming of this video.

I love how purposely gentle he is with you, a house cats claws would be at full extent but not Maxs'. He knows his power, knows you're at play so keeps it loving and gentle. What a guy.

Julien H Cats have retractable claws, so they can tear you open with their claws if they choose, even if their claws have been clipped recently. It does not remove them as an available weapon. :)
Yes, Max just recently had the tips of his claws trimmed. He gave me a good scratch across the palm last week but not intentionally. He was playing too rough.

My cat stuffed herself into a tiny shoe box the other day. She looked so cute.

Apollo the sun god no, I wouldn't. I just meant that it's funny to see how Maxwell acts like a normal cat despite being so big. I don't want wild animals as pets, the kitten I have is fine for me, he acts like he's a tiger anyway!
A cat is a cat no matter what the size. The danger with some of the bigger cats is that size can do a lot of damage, even unintentionally. Think of the tiny scratches you might get when your cat is frisky and likes playing rough. Now consider that playing with a puma, or sometimes even a lynx, those "little scratches" can end up as big lacerations. Max's claws look a bit blunted in this video, so that probably makes it safer to play with him, but a big cat in the wild with claws sharp enough for tree climbing would be pretty dangerous.

I love your videos so much! I hand reared a bobcat and had him for 16yrs. This is exactly how he played with me. Always purring up a storm and wanting pets in between. I would love to meet Max someday. He is one lucky baby to have you as his owner. Nia:wen kowa for respecting him

I liked his eyes. He was pretending to get sleepy so he could sneak attack you. He wanted you to relax and let your guard down...then SMACK!
Any cat owner will instantly recognize this, just with bigger teeth and claws. The only difference is that when Bernie does this she walks away unscathed, and when I do this with my _felis catus_ I end up looking like I was mauled by a lynx :D

Cute! He behaves exactly like housecat, but I didn't know earlier how muscular they (lynxes/bobcats) are and how powerful paws have with so long claws. Their fangs are also comparable to that of dogs not the housecats' ones.

@Deidre Perryman - I use to give Max a box with a fleece covered pillow in it until he decided to eat the material. When we travel, I put a large towel in his kennel and by end of the trip, he's chewed holes in it. I can't figure it out. So far, the rug I have put in front of his bench is surviving.

How people can tell you have raised Max very well, Max knows his limitations! if it was a house can it would have its claw's out but hook in your arm. And Max don't hook them in your are And Max don't bite down hard and a house cat will! ( not meaning to hurt ) So you have done a great job with Max...
@Richard Smith - Ah, don't let this video fool you. Max was having a good day. There are times when he will do what a house cat does and hooks or bites my arm. The bites are never hard but the other day I had to peel his claw out of my arm. He didn't do it on purpose, just a sign of affection.

Look Ma! No Claws! I was watching him and the only time l saw claws is after he got your arm in place for a few seconds and even that wasn't to hurt you, and he seemed to retracted them quickly. What a boy you got there. He really does love and respect you.

I am a Max fan-girl. I have to keep reminding myself that Max is NOT a house cat no matter how her acts...he is a lynx...albeit a beautiful and very well behaved one. If you ever get backed up on Max fur, please get in touch with me. I am a spinner and I would LOVE to spin his fur into yarn! Please give him a scratch for me.

What is it with cats and boxes? I've watched videos of lions, tigers, leopards, caracals, lynxes sitting in boxes and then having fun shredding those boxes. There's even a photo of a lion sitting inside a wheelbarrow. Yup, if I fits I sits.

I love this boy! Every time I scoop stinking blocks of ammonia scented urine from my big boy's litter, I think of Max!
Maureen H - Luckily Max does his business in the cedar mulch which soaks up the urine odor. He has a wonderful 3 foot litter pan that he chooses not to use. lol
Interesting that Lynxes are loners. What a fantastic createre. As a cid I read the book The wolfdog by Jack London where there is this fight between the woolfdogs mother and a lynx.
