Hi. Really good video. Just a question do I have to power the GOTEK with 5v supply before flashing it with Flash Floppy or is it powered by the USB A- USB A cable?
Thanx, just did this and it worked well. It will be interesting to see if the lower memory is an issue later on. I think it will be fine for me, as this new Gotek I just put in an external drive case and don't expect to be using it for trickier things, like protection schemes... But it will be something to watch..
Goodnight. I am from Brazil. I need help. I installed the Gotek SFRM72-FU-DL on the Yamaha PSR620 Keyboard, and it is not working correctly, I created 10 virtual disks on the pendrive, using the Floppy Manege software, Gotek only recognizes disk 000, it does not read the other created disks. I need to know if I have to put the FF.CFG and img.CFG files in the root of my pendrive?
Apparently due to the chip shortage they started using a cheaper clone of the STM32 that has less memory, doesn't affect Gotek's firmware but for FlashFloppy it can be problematic.
The nice thing is that, except for the rotary controller, you don't need to solder. I just did one myself and haven't yet done the rotary controller. To enable the Gotek for programming, I just used a jumper wire (a male to male dupont) on the two pins, and it held in place really well. And I had a USB male to male cable I bought years ago. So this is the most non-solder friendly solution (short of buying one someone else has built ;-) Gotek solution out there.. ;-)
Just an FYI for those without the skills to do this work: Gotek drives with the encoder, OLED & speaker mods and FlashFloppy firmware installed are available on eBay for around $50. After the first time I did all these mods myself I’ve valued my time more and then just bought multiple completed units off eBay and have them working in multiple vintage S-100, TRS-80 and OSI computers in all cases in parallel with a real floppy drive to allow copying between them.

It's powered by the USB cable. Some board revisions may not be prepared to have two power sources connected.

I think it can be a problem for writing high density HFE bitstream images, but I have not yet tested myself either.

I didn't realize that the new Gotek only has half the memory. I just ordered one so hopefully it still works out.

plz answer me how can i connet ordinary go tec emulator in 2 my personal pc2 read jacar design
I have a problem with GOTEK and cnc
please if you can help me
Sorry, but I know nothing about CNC machines. You can ask for help in FlashFloppy's official Facebook group: facebook.com/groups/flashfloppy/
i can't solder, i last time tried, and i fumbled with the iron and burned my hand.
I hace a slight trembling. The only thing I can recommend is practicing with the solder powered off until you feel it is not going to slip.
