Fear is Not My Future was written by Brandon Lake, Jonathan Jay, Hannah Shackleford & Nicole Hannel. It is from Maverick City Music’s collaboration album with Kirk Franklin entitled “Kingdom Book One” Available Now!
On June 17, 2015, nine African-American men and women lost their lives in a single act of hatred during a weekly Bible study at Mother Emanuel AMEC in Charleston, SC. Seven years after the tragedy, Fear Is Not My Future was recorded in April 2022 to commemorate and honor the lives lost during the Charleston shooting. This song is a declaration of hope in the midst of our trials and tribulations.
The heart behind this project is to not only expand the idea of what the Kingdom of God looks like, but to also share and spread music and a message that taps into an inspirational and unfiltered love for all people.

I have allowed this fear to steal so much of the joy I love in life. I conquered my fear through much prayer and confidence that God has giving me . Grace and Mercy cover me . I got on the plane with no fear and loved it . The view was priceless .

My toddler’s classmate tragically passed this week because of a faulty gate at her house which fell on her. As a family we are so devastated. We stand in prayer with this family. I can’t even begin to imagine the pain of loosing a child all of a sudden. My prayers goes out to them.

I had my baby girl 2 months back and it was a traumatic experience for me as a first time mom I had to stay in the hospital because she was born with complications. However God came through for us because she is perfectly fine now. This song speaks to me because I have been living in fear that something bad will happen to my little girl. My daughter just sent this to me and her timing was perfect as I was sitting in my room in despair over where the consequences of a life time of poor choices has led me. I just got out of prison. Found this song today, March 28,2023. 1 day after another mass shooting here in the US, at a church/school. 3 9-year olds and 3 adults were murdered.
I’ve been overwhelmed yet again with fear for the future of American children and confused on how they can continue to not make it home from school or church or the grocery store.
I also found out today about a friend’s mother being diagnosed with cancer, with possibly weeks left on earth.
I’m laying in bed sobbing to this song, because as hard as earthly life is…it’s not my future, my story, my home, or the end.
And the powerful place they are praising in, being another site of a mass shooting…redemption in motion.

I was born a Muslim in Iraq. I was worried and depressed, sitting and looking at the Tigris River in my city.Jesus' face appeared to me in the water and told me. I was homeless and then started sleeping on a family member couch. I was in ministry I usually came home late on weekends. Family member became upset why. I explained but to no avail. I was asked to leave, sleeping in the church and one night the Lord spoke out clearly, "I will settle you" I got a roommate and today 3yrs later I own a home, a very decent one. His promises are yes and amen 🙏

I had my third miscarriage this week at 19 weeks. I have been battling infertility and miscarriage for the past 8 years. When I left the hospital today I was feeling defeated, this song was my first suggestion. Praise the Lord, I do not know how I am going to collect my pieces to keep alive my dream of being a mother. But I know God is not done till is good, he will see us through it 🙏
UPDATE 1 month after- I have listened to this song countless times during the month. But did not come back to the comments. What a surprise and blessing when today a month later I came and found almost 175 prayers and love. Thanks to each one of you, for sharing your testimony, praying for me, and giving me words of healing and wisdom.
I am still on my healing journey, with a bit more clarity than before, with an unwavering faith that I will be a mother in whatever ways God chooses. I will update here once I have my rainbows, no matter how long it takes.
