  • Luca Marini, the only full-time rider on the grid without a point this season in the 2024 MotoGP, has drawn criticism for his lackluster performance on the RC213V.
Even though the Italian's below-par performances this season have been a far cry from his podium successes from the previous season, they must be understood in the light of the radically different position that he has been engaged to undertake in 2024.
Marini's season has been everything but fantastic, it is true. Marini's average pace this year has been nothing like his 2023 form, with him nearly always the slowest Honda and occasionally finding himself in a duel with riders from rival brands after they've remounted their bikes after crashing.

What happened to Honda was they let go of Pedrosa who was the one developing the bike. MM is a good racer but terrible at development.

Nowadays Pedrosa is doing miracle at KTM with KTM having 6 race wins in 5 years since he joined them😂😂😂
Since Pedrosa left Honda, Marquez got 15 race wins and 1 World Champion despite missing the entire 2020 season. That's more wins than the entire KTM bike that Pedrosa developed😂😂😂. Actually, Honda declined when Marquez got injured in 2020 and missed the entire season

He is a rider not an engineer, he is only one who could ride the honda, now everyone else is finding out how difficult it is. Mir, Rins, Marini, Zarco

I was a Honda V4 guy for decades. By 2013 I had a Kawasaki Concourse 14 in the garage. Replaced that with a Ducati in 2016.
Honda failed to provide their customers with the bikes they wanted to ride. So we went elsewhere. When you think V4 today, you think Ducati not Honda.
It amazes me that Honda cannot see this. Us vfr guys tried to tell them for over a decade before we started to walk away.

@@BikeGP can you do the same with yamaha. why Suzuki exits. If possible why are BMW, Suzuki and Kawasaki not interested. Can these manufacturers come back to MotoGP in 2027.

This is just my view of the current Honda and yamaha situation.
I think yamaha is trying the Ducati strategy currently. If u remember back in 2013 to 2017, Ducati bikes were all about top speed , almost 5 kmph faster than 2nd fastest bike Honda on a straight line. Then from 2017 onwards Ducati improved by taking advantage of clever electronics & usage of aerodynamics to manipulate the bike to corner, accelerate & brake better. Slowly refining, adjusting & calibrating the bike to become more & more competitive in each race. Eventually bringing regular podium winners for Ducati and ultimately grabbing the title name world champion & best bike in the grid title.
I believe, Yamaha for sure is foreseeing the future rule changes coming up in the 2027 motogp season and gearing up for that. Also meanwhile doing everything to keep Fabio & Rins at their disposal and gaining more & more experience in aerodynamics. There recent aero & engine upgrade points to this conclusion from my view.
It sure is a risky game for Yamaha. But if pulled through, yamaha will be back in the Championship fight around the 2027 season with new rules.
I also like to say something about Honda too.
Well it's another story for Honda compared to yamaha.
If u remember, after losing the 2015 title to yamaha, Honda went all in to develop a bike that specifically suits only to MM93. Yes I know they won the 2016-19 championship.
By doing so they created a bike which is so much concentrated / focused to MM93 And no other rider can tame that beast ( just like the current Red bull F1 car that can only be driven by Max verstappen & no other driver is capable of ).
In pursuit of giving MM93 the best bike that suits him, Honda ignored the other side of their garage completely. Also been accelerated by the fact of the exit of Dani pedrosa from honda. Yes of course like yamaha, Honda got spat out in the Aero development department due to COVID 19. These is a excuse. But nobody cares.
Now under the cloud of Marquez betrayal, Honda has lost in an irreversible path that Honda itself has created. Currently Honda is picking up pieces that remain in the dust and trying to re-initiate their MotoGP plans.
I think currently they are trying to be more of a 2 rider centric rather than one rider centric like before.
In my view it's a good lesson for Honda and any other manufacturers. Betting too much on a single rider for too long could only lead to humiliation.
I Like to see how the reborn honda will scale up to the 2025 and 2026 challenge. And i also believe, even though they found out reality the hard way, now they are surely on the right path.
I would like to see both Yamaha and Honda challenge the european manufacturers in the 2027 season or so.❤.

oh come on guys, don't be naive, don't be silly. The Hondas are also struggling in other races, including WSBK, and remember, THERE IS NO Marc Marquez in there. How come you said it's entirely Marc's fault?
They face this problem since of the single ECU rule (Magneti Marelli) applied, and their in-house ECU was formerly their primary tool for dealing with their wild but reliable engine and lousy chassis. (cmiiw) The Honda's last win on WSBK was on 2016 by NH69 (and his bike was STILL NOT USING ECU Magneti Marelli on that time).
They cannot design a bike that can react really good around the corner (fast in - fast out). Always a "nervous bike", And that's why they've always contracted an "Alien" rider in the past to handle the bike. And since the other factory bike became faster and faster around the corner, the Honda's bike weaknesses become more apparent.
I feel they will struggle whether Pedrosa is on their team or not. And look, even with Pedrosa as test rider for KTM team, only Acosta the one who can keep up (consistently) with the Ducatis.
And as long as Gigi D'alligna is on Ducati's squad as their chief engineer and the rules continue to favor them, the Ducati's will be just fine.

The quickest way for Honda to resolve this is to fire Puig. His insistence at listening to one of the worst development riders on the track (Marquez) and ignoring others is a large reason why Dani testing for KTM. If rumors that Aleix will be a Honda test rider are true that is good as he is not too bad at that. Bradl is a decent rider, but not up to the task of running current MotoGP race pace and to truly develop a bike they need a rider with that ability. Honda brought in Kawauchi after Suzuki closed - they should have put him in the race shop for the first year to develop the bike properly - away from incompetent Puig stuffing things up.
