great videos alistair, you are a very precise and articulate teacher....i am learning slowly but surely...all me life i have played music by ear only, never had any formal music lessons, so i appreciate your skill in teaching a simpleton like me in a way i can mostly understand...aloha
Alistair, thanks a lot for the EWI videos. They are very helpful. Unfortunateley, the EWI 5000 is a bit different to the EWI 4000s. I got stuck on the paramter adjustments. The nobs at the top near the mouthpiece are different to the 4000s. There are also 2 level of settings for these. Quite confusing. Do you plan to make a video also for the EWI 5000 and these differences and the recommended settings for an EWI beginner? Thanks, Robert
I don't plan to do that I'm afraid. My EWI5000 has long stopped working and I can't get it fixed anywhere in the UK because there aren't any service manuals. Akai never seemed to finish off the software for it or offer any new firmware.
brilliant lessons! (there are lots of excellent online tutorials for different things, but these are the best i've seen!) i haven't bought an EWI yet, but now i'm wondering which is better, the 4000s or the 5000 ...... i hate having to make decisions. now if you lived in london .......
one question is what happened to the end of faq number one, in which you were about to explain how to change keys from the default c key, hope i asked that correctly?????
Hello Alistair, thank you so much for the extremely helpful video tutorials, I have the ewi 5000 and am looking for ewi bass and alto flute sounds/presets. I found www.suonopuro.net/ewipreen.html?i6s2 but they don't. If you or anyone knows where I could find them I'd be grateful. I realise I can play through a midi sound module, but would be great to have pre loaded presets as less gear to set up for gigs. Many thanks!
I love your lessons. I play a yamaha wx5 with the vl70m. I like it but am thinking of getting a ewi 4000s. Do you know if the vl70m sound module would work with the ewi 4000s?
That’s an interesting idea. As wind players shaking is something that we would always try to keep to a minimum but if it works for you. I think the lip vibrato works very well as it is intended to be used. All the best.
Thanks a lot Alistair. I don't think that I would have got my Ewi going without the help of your videos. Paul

Really nice series of videos! Looking forward to seeing more. Thanks for sharing your insight and experience with the EWI!

Hi, thanks for your videos. I am looking to buy an ewi OR a roland Aerophone. As a pop sax player, which one would you recommend? Thanks :)

Hi sir!. Does the EWI USB includes transposition settings/abilities?.
I love your lessons. I play a yamaha wx5 with the vl70m. I like it but am thinking of getting a ewi 4000s. Do you know if the vl70m sound module would work with the ewi 4000s?
Yes, but you need to adjust breath control and other settings.
does this work on windows 10 or ONLY on vista or windows 8 the usb ewi i find it frustrating no sound
I’m really sorry. I have no experience of Windows for many years now. Perhaps someone else can comment?
I ve just bought the 5000. Could you tell me what leads I need to get please.
You need a 1/4" Jack the same as a guitar lead. It comes with a USB for charging and connecting to computer
thanck you very much
I shake the instrument to get vibrato. It gives me a faster vibrato, then I can do with my mouth.
