Nraug Nas (Dear Love) is a song about the complex emotions that go along with love and betrayal. The protagonist is a young woman in a stable relationship with a man whom she loves wholeheartedly. Her peaceful world is soon shattered when another man comes and claims her by paying her family a dowry to force her into an unwanted arranged marriage. As she’s being ripped away from the man she actually loves, she wonders why her actual lover has not tried to save her from such a fate. This song is her story, and her attempt to rationalize the feelings she still has for a man who ultimately felt she wasn’t worth fighting for.
The only hmong girl who can incorporate hmong and english into a song that doesn't make me cringe. Amazing like alwaysl Kalia!
