    Man, I didn’t find the original recipe until after I made it so mine was an ‘adapted’ version.. 😆 kept stumbling on the rabbit hole of alternate recipes when researching! Apparently it was called a Maverick Martini first... firing off an email this evening guys!

    This is (confusingly) often served in a coupe here in the UK where it is popular. Often pineapple juice is added to get some foam and the traditional garnish is half a passion fruit. Rumour has it that you eat the fruit, drink the champers to refresh ur pallet and then drink the drink. However it is really up to u some people dump it in some people shot it some people sip it. Personal prefrence

    I’m brazilian, but I’ve never heard of Passoã before. It’s definitely not widely available, at least not in my region...
    Still, gotta try and find it because I love passion fruit. Thanks for the recipe!

      Correction on that, Passoã is a French liqueur, but it uses, or used to use, Brazilian Passion Fruit.

    In my bar I use a good vanilla liquer in place of the Vanilla Vodka which is hard to find today in Italy.

    • @TheEducatedBarfly
      @TheEducatedBarfly  5 років тому +1

      A Negative Coconut you could also
      Just take a vanilla bean, slice it down the middle and. Throw it into vodka for 24 hours.
      There you have vanilla vodka.

      @@TheEducatedBarfly 😂You're right, but I have too many bottles already. Put a homemade vanilla liquer made with NGS at the side of a Vanilla Vodka seems an overkill for me. Also I don't have all this time, maybe you never see the Dante's Inferno of the aperitif time here...

    For however long I have been making this drink, we have deliberately been leaving out the Passoa, and have added Eggwhite. We think this makes the drink simpler, better and more pleasing to the eye.
    Good drink though, whenever a lady asks me 'just give me something nice' while I am in a rush, this drink is going to be it.

    • @vaettra1589
      @vaettra1589 2 роки тому

      Good tip with the eggwhite. The way I make it (and everyone likes more) is skip the Passoa - just 5cl vanilla vodka, 3cl simple sugar syrup, 3cl lemon juice and the insides of a passion fruit. Double strain, garnish with half a passion fruit (or skip it). Sidecar of champagne if I can afford it.

    First of all, I'm not bartender, I've just got into cocktails recently as obsession/hobby/uNameIt. Just wanted to express my thoughts. Before this recipe to make, I made a few with real Passion fruit fresh puree/muddled/etc. and with some variations of Lime/Lemon/Pineapple juices, and those all my variations were so far so good - not too sweet. But this recipe, with no Lime juice and so much Passion fruit puree goes very sweet as for my taste. I felt like I drink sugar :) with some flavour of Passion fruit. Maybe it's my MONIN Passion Fruit puree (1L)? Too sweet? Bad? Good? I strictly followed oz/mL to be precise. @The Educated Barfly u and @Steve the Bartender (I read comment here below from 5m ago and watched video, tnx) are 2 main sources for me for this cocktail. So could u please elaborate more what is the best way to do this drink. Again, I'm not even confident amator in this area, so excuse me if I made something wrong in text/explanation/question.

  • @RobbieMitchel
    @RobbieMitchel 5 років тому +2

    Yo Leandro, what's going on with that Passionfruit Puree? Looks synthetic/fake as hell. Surely the drink is much more balanced if you use Passionfruit pulp so theres still some tang? idk about in the States, but here in Australia we can find tinned passionfruit pulp in the grocery store - I'm sure it's readily available in most countries though.

    • @TheEducatedBarfly

  • @rbalbontin
    @rbalbontin 5 років тому +4

    I have tried it with the champagne on top of the martini, first time I see it on a side.
    Question: What's the difference between passion fruit juice and puree?. Here in Latin America we just find fresh passion fruit, we blend the pulp, strain and that's it.
    If you just pass it throw a strainer without blend it, then you could wash the seeds and dry them out. They're very nice as a decoration and have a very nice crunchy and nutty flavor.

    • @Leobs1996
      @Leobs1996 5 років тому +1

      As far as I know, the puree is a syrup that includes the pulp, so it has sugar alrdy added to it, while we tend to mix the unsweetened juice with some sugar syrup in the making of the drink

      Graham Wise you could but you have to balance with Simple Syrup as you’ll be largely missing the sugar component of balancing the drink. It’ll take some experimentation for sure to get right.
