Man, I didn’t find the original recipe until after I made it so mine was an ‘adapted’ version.. 😆 kept stumbling on the rabbit hole of alternate recipes when researching! Apparently it was called a Maverick Martini first... firing off an email this evening guys!
Mr. Tomach makes us dizzy, but it's unique. Wonder how it would be to watch through a wearable screen like the Oculus.... Steve's great, love that guy. We're trying to figure out something to do together.
If you haven’t watched the how to drink channel you should check out a few of his videos. They’re pretty interesting and he gets a good bit of drink background info.
This is (confusingly) often served in a coupe here in the UK where it is popular. Often pineapple juice is added to get some foam and the traditional garnish is half a passion fruit. Rumour has it that you eat the fruit, drink the champers to refresh ur pallet and then drink the drink. However it is really up to u some people dump it in some people shot it some people sip it. Personal prefrence
This is cool as I was thinking of asking you about any cocktails with passionfruit as they're plentiful here right now and are my favourite fruit. Nice telepathic job Leandro!
I’m brazilian, but I’ve never heard of Passoã before. It’s definitely not widely available, at least not in my region... Still, gotta try and find it because I love passion fruit. Thanks for the recipe!
Good afternoon! Many thanks for great video. Can I use Monin Passion fruit puree instead of fresh passion fruit? If yes, in what proportion? Thank you in advance
A Negative Coconut you could also Just take a vanilla bean, slice it down the middle and. Throw it into vodka for 24 hours. There you have vanilla vodka.
@@TheEducatedBarfly 😂You're right, but I have too many bottles already. Put a homemade vanilla liquer made with NGS at the side of a Vanilla Vodka seems an overkill for me. Also I don't have all this time, maybe you never see the Dante's Inferno of the aperitif time here...
The small glass of Champagne which goes with cocktail is called the money shot being that Champagne is expensive and the money shot is a porn movie term, I won't explain what it means look it up.
For however long I have been making this drink, we have deliberately been leaving out the Passoa, and have added Eggwhite. We think this makes the drink simpler, better and more pleasing to the eye. Good drink though, whenever a lady asks me 'just give me something nice' while I am in a rush, this drink is going to be it.
Good tip with the eggwhite. The way I make it (and everyone likes more) is skip the Passoa - just 5cl vanilla vodka, 3cl simple sugar syrup, 3cl lemon juice and the insides of a passion fruit. Double strain, garnish with half a passion fruit (or skip it). Sidecar of champagne if I can afford it.
First of all, I'm not bartender, I've just got into cocktails recently as obsession/hobby/uNameIt. Just wanted to express my thoughts. Before this recipe to make, I made a few with real Passion fruit fresh puree/muddled/etc. and with some variations of Lime/Lemon/Pineapple juices, and those all my variations were so far so good - not too sweet. But this recipe, with no Lime juice and so much Passion fruit puree goes very sweet as for my taste. I felt like I drink sugar :) with some flavour of Passion fruit. Maybe it's my MONIN Passion Fruit puree (1L)? Too sweet? Bad? Good? I strictly followed oz/mL to be precise. @The Educated Barfly u and @Steve the Bartender (I read comment here below from 5m ago and watched video, tnx) are 2 main sources for me for this cocktail. So could u please elaborate more what is the best way to do this drink. Again, I'm not even confident amator in this area, so excuse me if I made something wrong in text/explanation/question.
Yo Leandro, what's going on with that Passionfruit Puree? Looks synthetic/fake as hell. Surely the drink is much more balanced if you use Passionfruit pulp so theres still some tang? idk about in the States, but here in Australia we can find tinned passionfruit pulp in the grocery store - I'm sure it's readily available in most countries though.
I have tried it with the champagne on top of the martini, first time I see it on a side. Question: What's the difference between passion fruit juice and puree?. Here in Latin America we just find fresh passion fruit, we blend the pulp, strain and that's it. If you just pass it throw a strainer without blend it, then you could wash the seeds and dry them out. They're very nice as a decoration and have a very nice crunchy and nutty flavor.
As far as I know, the puree is a syrup that includes the pulp, so it has sugar alrdy added to it, while we tend to mix the unsweetened juice with some sugar syrup in the making of the drink
The naming is not as exciting as it sounds. it was created by Douglas Ankrah and he wanted to make a bold, sexy and playful cocktail and he named it the Pornstar Martini, because he thought it would be a drink a pornstar would order. So not that much more exciting.
I watched that video just to find out how to drink that, I mean, do I have to mix these two liquids, or drink them separately, or in some specific order … I just ordered that in a pub and was kinda confused … But thank you, I appreciate your work! ❤️
theres a choice u can drink it the sparkline wine as a palate cleanser for example if u drank other alcohol or eaten any foods or pour it in the pornstar for a spritiez drink
Can almost guarantee that he uses funkin' passion fruit purée. Vanilla syrup can be made by infusing vanilla beans into simple syrup for however long you want.
I would love to make this drink but i do not have vanilla syrup! I have checked around for some recipes and my question is! Do you add brown sugar or salt to your mixture of homemade vanilla syrup? Some recipes ask for it and some don’t. Thanks in advance and keep them coming!
Graham Wise you could but you have to balance with Simple Syrup as you’ll be largely missing the sugar component of balancing the drink. It’ll take some experimentation for sure to get right.
Man f*ck this this drink... in the last bar I used to work this was so popular I couldn't help but roll my eyes with the weight of a thousand anvils when someone ordered more than 2 Great build and video though !

Some people say the name is due to the passion fruit used in the recipe. But is unclear why
And by the way big fan of your channel buddy!

it gets much better when you mix the sparkling wine (cava, champagne, proseco or whatever). it gets the bubbles and its little bit less sweet
I’m brazilian, but I’ve never heard of Passoã before. It’s definitely not widely available, at least not in my region...
Still, gotta try and find it because I love passion fruit. Thanks for the recipe!
Correction on that, Passoã is a French liqueur, but it uses, or used to use, Brazilian Passion Fruit.
I have a friend that was asking me to make this but all the recipes were really convoluted. I might make it like this though, thanks!
Good afternoon! Many thanks for great video.

In my bar I use a good vanilla liquer in place of the Vanilla Vodka which is hard to find today in Italy.

But how server gonna take this much full Martini in tray
No ingredients in the description this time though?
Yeah. This annoyed me. Sometimes I check to see if it has ingredients I just don't like.
Sorry, it will be fixed!

An addition of cachaça will really bring out the freshness of the passionfruit

Robbie Mitchell the passion fruit I used was 100% just passion fruit

Can the sparkling be added to the martini itself?
What do u think of vanilla essence + vodka instead of vanilla vodka. My bar doesnt stock absolut at all
I would really like to know what is that martini glass?
It’s Vintage
Anyone know the brand and model of the little champagne flute?
It’s vintage :)

What about the apple juice?

we'll try it next time we're in Vegas.
What does this have to do with a Martini? Looks good but i dont get the Name
its about the glass
Gents, you left out the written recipe from the video bio. But excellent work nonetheless 👍

No lime juice ?
Nope. The original doesn’t contain it
I think Passoa is French, not Brazilian.
You are correct, it's a French product owned by the Rémy Cointreau group. The original Passoã was made from Brazilian passion-fruit juice.
The Educated Barfly either way it's delicious, but almost as bad as turmeric is terms of potential for staining.
Classic cocktail from 🇬🇭
Seems REALLY sweet.
Need a dry champagne to chase it. ;)
