I saw one video where the eldest chick attacked the sibling so much, its back was completely bald. It continued attacking until it passed away and as always, cannibalised by mum and chick.
I couldn't be possibly any more happy about these extraordinary circumstances for this little hawk ‼️please keep us abreast Lady Hawk.. Thank you for bringing this for us to view.. I'm ecstatic🥰🌹‼️Blessings sent from New York 🥀
Not even bald eaglets are this vicious with each other. They’ll usually only fight at meal times. This particular eaglet acts like a homicidal maniac. It’s clear he’s not gonna give up until the smaller sibling is dead. Very harrowing to watch. I obviously need to do more research because food seems to be plentiful so there is some other factor driving this behavior.
Eagle babies that hatch late are pretty much doomed. They are too small to fight back. Nature is cruel and only the strong survive. The strong insure survival of the species.
Wonder why this breed practices the attacking nearly 100% and the larger chick almost never loses. The poor smaller chick is killed, from what I've read, close to 100% when being attacked. Some other prey birds have violent nests and larger chicks often attack, some harshly, the smaller ones. Food dominance is the most common practice in those nests. Think of the bald eagles. There used to be site on YT years ago where the guy showed a handful of nests he tracked where the older chick lost out on the smaller chick actually lived on to an adult. However, he noted how that only happened when the older chick was attacked and killed by another animal or had some sort of nest accident (falling out of it). This breed, I guess, does this as regular practice and hardly ever produce more than 1 live bird.

It’s beautiful to see predatory birds develop. The stronger chick is a wonderful specimen. Bonking is a natural part of raptor development. It strengthens muscles, improves coordination, and establishes a pecking order. The “beaten” chick gives in by putting its head down for a bit. Keep in mind that first year survival is very far from a given; the stronger and better prepared young raptors have a greater chance of surviving long enough to mate and reproduce.

@L L What in the world?? You must be to come up with all that Nonsense, over a dam video of baby eagles. And By the way,I have watched most all of the videos of these little ones, and the smaller one, did not started the pecking here,he was busy trying to get away
Wow this is terrible. Don’t just tell me birds are all instinct. I call BS on that. There had to be such a horrible and miserable anxiety this poor thing felt every morning when the sun came up. Nighttime sleep is prob the only peaceful time for it. The act might be in its nature but that still doesn’t mean that feeling is gone because “it’s nature.” Can’t buy that. You can clearly hear and see the terror in its face eyes and how it screams. Damn.
@@tdowell8615 True. But I can’t help to think that naturally, some eaglets are nastier than others, so who really knows anyway. It’s crazy to think just how many eagles nests IRL are without cams. We only see a handful of nests. This stuff and worse prob goes down all the time.
mother nature is not being fair, if they gonna be fighting to the death can't they all just fight each other, it frustrating to watch the other one not fight back. Dam mother nature suck.
Obviously when this behavior continues as we see tHa oldest Eaglet not letting up on its sibling, usually tHa one(s) being pecked to submission, it's a learning tool for them as well. Some Eaglets have learn techniques on how to stay alive in this situation. This Lil'Bobblehead Birdie of Prey hadn't been fed much by tHa Mama from tHa get go and to use techniques learned, brain needs to function and can't if its being starved to death. A tragically painful way to die. It expends all its energy running away from its sibling all over tHe nest (out of tHa bowl onto tHa railing edges of tHa nest)! Poor baby!

All eagle chicks do this, it's a survival instinct.

Espíritu asesino, no es de supervivencia.
Did the little one survive? This was very hard to watch. Poor little guy.
Ese pollo se llamaba 😮
the film was taken a year ago. I just watched it. did #2 survived by #1 brutal attacks constantly with no reason, not even feeding time.

He starts on his sibling jus t to make sure it doesn’t raise up to get a bite to eat.

you should intervene in such situations, not let the younger one peck..but it's a pity that you are far away
Seriously??? Why??? so a weak chick breeds and passes on inferior genes??
& you do know these are PREDATORY birds??
