Shane: I don't think Tom Hiddleston is a murderer.... There's a darkness in him, though. Tom Hiddleston just trying to watch the boys not solve unsolved crime: Yo, wtf
@NCT_ LOVER_ Absolutely! They both were highly intelligent women who were often reduced on their (to be honest stunning) looks. I think Thelma deserves just as much attention as Marilyn!
She's been rediscovered of late - at the time she was considered a knockoff Jean Harlow, which is really unfair because they were both very talented, much in the same way Naomi Watts and Nicole Kidman are compared - and a lot of people have compared Thelma to Brittany Murphy, which I can understand in a lot of ways
I love how these two guys have such clashing personalities and yet, they seem to be such a good pair and always come up to the same ideas when it's about positive things.
They must be careful of joking like that with each other though. Words hurt even if you know the other person doesn’t mean it, and sometimes that stuff comes back into your head at the worst possible times.

My sister, who's a lawyer, told me why you leave someone one dollar: so you can show that you are intentionally leaving them nothing. If they are left out entirely, it leaves the door open for people to contest the will.
It's like a cousin of the the "selling the house or car for $1" thing. Just so that you have evidence that it's a legal transaction. A former coworker of mine did actually contest a will because she was left out of it - she'd been married for less than a year when her husband died suddenly (I think brain aneurism or something, clearly not foul play), and her adult stepchildren were going to kick her out of the house and take everything.
Here's my lengthy "novel" of thoughts regarding Thelma Todd's death. I *sincerely* apologize in advance. I've always found the death of Thelma Todd to be an incredible, baffling mystery. It's frustrating that her death was declared accidental when there's SO much evidence pointing to homicide. I feel like more should've been done, bc we all know forensics wasn't what it is today. However, you DON'T get those injuries from sitting in a car & being poisoned by ANYTHING. It's not even like she was "violently" throwing up, bc there wasn't vomit anywhere. It seems VERY clear she was placed where she was found. I'd also like to know specifics like which ribs were broken?🤔 What part was her nose broken at - As in, the top part of the bridge & vertically or the midsection of the bridge & horizontally? If we knew that, we could take measurements to show if her nose was broken from hitting the steering wheel & if so, what part of the steering wheel? By that, we could even learn if she hit it by her own doing or by someone using force. (Like what forensics do to determine if someone jumped or was pushed.) Was there bruising? If so, how fresh was the bruising? Did the bruising show discoloration? If so, what were the colors of bruising? Did they get darker towards the middle, to determine the point of impact? Or was it all one color? Did her broken ribs have any appearance or sign of healing to show they may have been broken on a previous date? In *EVERYTHING* I've heard or read, these questions were NEVER even asked. I'm not a detective, but I find it hard to believe that no one has thought about asking these questions, let alone actually answering them. In most things I've read about this case, everyone that knew her found "suicide" to be the most unlikely, unbelievable theories. Although she had her stressors in life, those closest to her said she was a force of strength that would never allow anything to have enough power over her that she'd simply 'give up.' She was a fierce fighter that no adversary was deemed strong enough to make her 'throw in the towel.' You never know...Natalie Woods' case was reopened. Maybe Thelma Todd's will be, too.
there are photos of her body in the car and it looks as though she was in the passenger seat and fell side ways (not onto the steering wheel) lading me to belive she did not break her nose on the steering wheel
i wonder if anyone looked into Mrs Martha Ford's phone records. assuming she was telling the truth about the call and the date/time of it, couldn't they have traced back to see where the call came from, and whose phone Thelma used to make the call? that could've provided more info on her last moments.
I completely agree with you on this except that carbon monoxide poisoning doesn't lead to anything besides the victim passing out quickly and calmly and then dying, as in falling asleep and never waking up again, without throwing up or such, so this could still be the causing of her death even though she was murdered (which she definetly was)

Allow me to introduce you to Puppet History over on Watcher. It’s Shane’s chaotic grim and morbidly funny brainchild. Also the puppets sing about their tragedies
She only left him $1 so that he couldn’t claim he was left out of the will and gain more of her estate. So pro tip if you’re writing a will and you hate someone only leave them $1
It's a slap in the face but also legally responsible. That way he couldn't claim he was "accidentally" left out of the will and go ahead and try to get more money.
"Agent with underworld connections" Shane's email sign off based on this series: ... Looking forward to the meeting tomorrow! All hail the Watcher, Shane Madej Agent with underworld connections
Her death is very sad, she seemed like a really cool woman but I just keep getting distracted by the little tuft of hair that’s sticking up out of the top of Shane’s head
Shane's hair always gets me. Even when it starts out okay, he moves around so much and touches it so much, he always looks a bit mad scientist-y by the end.
My theory is that the chauffeur made a move at her after getting dinner together and she rejected that move due to the fact she has a new man in San Francisco. So Todd and the chauffeur got in a quarrel and the chauffeur knocked her out and he put her in west’s garage to started the car to make it seem like west murdered her.
Yeah and there is no way to tell if he was telling the truth about her "being unusually quiet" and that she rejected his usual offer to walk her to the door. His telling of events would make it seem that SHE was off that day. Also, who's to say that he didn't give her peas and carrots on the drive home.
Post Mortem: Todd's leaving her Ex husband a single $1 in her will means that he was not completely cut out of said will. Therefore he would have no legal standing to contest it.
You can contest a will? Maybe that's make sense for a child, but odd for a an ex. Nevertheless, thanks for info! She really seemed like an introspective gal
Meena well it is dated from when they were still married, so he would have been her spouse, not her ex quite yet. so it makes as to why he might contest it.
That’s nonsense....you can contest wills for a variety of reasons. Having your name mentioned doesn’t negate legal standing nor does being cut out create it. She’s allowed to leave him nothing or everything and he’s allowed to contest it regardless.
Thelma todd is an ancestor of mine, I can’t remember exactly but I think she is my granny’s distant cousin or something like that on my mums side, (so not rly a close relation) and my great aunt is acc named Thelma after her. I’m glad that i have some sort of relation to her, but knowing she died this way is horrible :(
He was also her lover (one of them, anyway) and probably felt it was his right to tell her what time to be in. She didn't seem to pay much attention to what he thought his rights were, though - she was very independent, by all accounts.
@@jazzabighits4473 A mobster approached her about allowing a gambling operation and probably made some effort to extort her - that doesn't in any way negate my statement. In addition, the fact that she was "with a bunch of dudes" is irrelevant. She chose who she kept company with and didn't allow some controlling, overbearing man to dictate how and when she would come and go. She made her own living. Yes, all that qualifies her as being "independent" - especially for those times - when the pressure to tie on a apron and build your life around fetching a guy's slippers was strong.
@@gibsongirl2100 Being with a bunch of dudes isn't irrelevant, it shows she wasn't independent. It's good she was able to make her own business and all that. Still, I'd argue that this was a suicide rather than a murder or an accident.
Y’all don’t know how much this series means to me. It’s literally the one thing filling me with joy in this time of sadness loss and high stakes stress
Everyone's talking about Shane quote on body positivity while I felt this quote by Thelma Todd saying "Building on beauty is the worst thing any girl can do" is most relatable than any other body positivity struggle I've ever seen.
I like it too. As a beauty queen herself, Thelma Todd probably had to learn this herself. Lots of beautiful women came to Hollywood in those days, but if that was all you had, you weren't going to have a career. You had to hone your skills as well.
We really need to popularize that quote. I see WAY too many young women and girls trying to capitalize on their looks to the detriment of things like their education, personality, character, skills etc.
yeah the world is a shallow place, sadly we can't all be a "jack of all trades" in regards to balancing looks, personality, career and all that, no one is a perfect package, and no one should have to be. i think we should all learn to appreciate ourselves, but also never assume we're perfect the way we are, cause there's always room for improvement, as long as we're the ones in charge of what improvements we might need, i think that's not a bad way to be
#PostMortem: Leaving her ex-husband $1 in her will wasn’t just a sick burn, it was actually a legal thing!! If she had left him nothing in her will, he could have contested that he was accidentally left out and gotten some more money, but by leaving $1 it shows that she remembered him and purposefully did not want him getting any of her money/property. It was insulting and pretty legally sound, way to go Queen Thelma. Love you guys and am so thankful for all the hard work you put into your content!
Hell blacklisting still happens, like brandon fresher spoke out about being sexually assulted and for about ten years wasn't in any movies. And just recently is finally back.
I feel like Shane lost the ability to speak English this episode... “do-... ju-... body positivity.” And “the hair back then... very... firm. Firm... firm.” And “yes... ThICK!” Lmao you okay Shane
My theory: Todd went to visit West after the party, either to tell him that it was over because she had met somebody knew or just to see him but somehow word got around to him that she was seeing somebody else. He got angry and jealous and beat her, which would explain the nose and ribs. She was probably scared of him and feared that she would spend her life alone as his side piece and be beat when she tried to leave, because that is the victim mentality, and in her drunken state, thought the only way out was through suicide. It may actually have been an accident that he locked her in the garage. Abusers do inexplicable and inexcusable things when they're angry, such as locking people up to "think about" why they need to continue being obedient. Either way, she sat in the running car in a locked garage. Maybe she was so drunk that she genuinely forgot about CO poisoning, but it seems unlikely to me, considering fight or flight kicks in and even in a drunken stupor, I've never been drunk enough to sit in a running car in a closed space.
fun fact: she probably left her ex-husband $1 for legal reasons. if she had left him nothing, he could have filed as being forgotten in her will and received a portion of her money, but by leaving him just $1, it shows that she remembered him in the will and decided to leave him as close to nothing as she could :))
Ryan: I dont know I've never been engaged in murder-" Shane: "Yet-" Bro- Shane bouta get Ryan engaged in Murder- 👁👄👁🔪 Ryan: "That's crazy cause I dont care about you" Shane's mind: Now your really gonna be engaged in murder 👁💧👄💧👁🔪
I dont think it will, only speculation here and I dont think any suspect is alive now............... But at least some justice will be made and be heard to Thelma's family
Just a quick something that stood out to me. When the chauffeur said that she always asked him to escort her to her door, but didn't on that particular night. Maybe it could have been because she was expecting someone she knew to be there. So if someone she trusted was there, there would be no need for her usual routine. Just a thought. Would be something I would do. Well, I mean, not now after watching this video. Or is it possible the chauffeur is the one who did it and put her body in her garage.
The older Shane gets, the more he looks like a millennial angeleno version of Remus Lupin. Honestly, I’m here for it. Sending love from MN. #postmortem #shaniac
She couldn't have been put in the garage after her murder since the coroner stated in the autopsy that her blood saturation was 70% carbon monoxide- meaning she was breathing when she was in the garage

“In Todd’s will, dated back when they were still married, DiCico was left one dollar”
Me, howling: OKAY SIS DAMN
It's a slap in the face but also legally responsible. That way he couldn't claim he was "accidentally" left out of the will and go ahead and try to get more money.
He had it coming :)
shane: all the rich people are murders
also shane: i dont think tom hiddleston is a killer
"Agent with underworld connections"
Shane's email sign off based on this series:

Looking forward to the meeting tomorrow!
All hail the Watcher,

Agent with underworld connections
I REMEMBER ALL HAIL THE WATCHER IM LAUGHING 💀
Her death is very sad, she seemed like a really cool woman but I just keep getting distracted by the little tuft of hair that’s sticking up out of the top of Shane’s head
I have named the tuft Tom.
nunfog I love Tom
Yeah, he's really working that hobo/just rolled out of bed look lol
Shane's hair always gets me. Even when it starts out okay, he moves around so much and touches it so much, he always looks a bit mad scientist-y by the end.
Me too. He looked like a strutting rooster.
Ryan: "I don’t know, I’ve never been accused of murder before."

“I don’t know. i have never been accused of murder befo-“
“Yet”
That I have to remember :D
You can contest a will? Maybe that's make sense for a child, but odd for a an ex. Nevertheless, thanks for info! She really seemed like an introspective gal
Meena well it is dated from when they were still married, so he would have been her spouse, not her ex quite yet. so it makes as to why he might contest it.
By leaving him $1, he can’t argue that he was accidentally left out of the will. Thus entitling him to a larger sum of money.
That’s nonsense....you can contest wills for a variety of reasons. Having your name mentioned doesn’t negate legal standing nor does being cut out create it. She’s allowed to leave him nothing or everything and he’s allowed to contest it regardless.
"iss..bad. don't do it- don't. just- eat. djsb....bodyy positivity"
-Shane Madej 2020
he tried
nailed it!
He got it out in the end XD
He got it out there.
What a man, what a speech.
"Who describes themselves as an 'agent with underworld connections?'"
"I do, generally"
I love Shane leaning into the "he's a demon" bit
“I’d eat free food off of- ah nevermind I’m not getting into this.”
I’m living for Shane and Ryan’s hair slowly getting longer and more disheveled
Like some crazy guys who doesenr sleep but try to solve some old misterys
Yes
The chaotic energy grows stronger every episode.
i was gonna say, they’re slowly morphing into disheveled mystery clones
Shows the effects of the quarantine
"Do you care about me?"
"Clearly!"
"That's crazy because I don't care about you."
DON'T LIE, RYAN...
Claire Field this is revenge for the poe postmortem i am so sure of it
I like how Ryan was shocked and like “WAIT you never talk to me!” So he clearly cares about Shane caring about him🤣
*cough SHIP cough*
Course they care about each other!
It's a bromance and very very beautiful.. Looool

Thelma todd is an ancestor of mine, I can’t remember exactly but I think she is my granny’s distant cousin or something like that on my mums side, (so not rly a close relation) and my great aunt is acc named Thelma after her. I’m glad that i have some sort of relation to her, but knowing she died this way is horrible :(
Woah. Interesting. Would love more details on this.
All humans r related
An aunt isn't an ancestor, but a relative
StIgnatius 16 yeah❤️
This deserves more likes
Who was Thelma’s *business partner* to tell her what time to be home???
Yeah I was also thinking about that
He was also her lover (one of them, anyway) and probably felt it was his right to tell her what time to be in. She didn't seem to pay much attention to what he thought his rights were, though - she was very independent, by all accounts.
@@gibsongirl2100 So independent she was with a bunch of dudes and possibly mixed in with the mafia? Lmfao
Ryan and Shane's backs must be hurting by carrying buzzfeed
BRUTAL honesty
Tbh there the only part of buzzfeed I watch
Lmao
Blake Gammon They're basically Atlas holding the heavens lol
My head hurts from reading this exact same comment on every BuzzFeed Unsolved video
Shane: “Do-...... Ju-.......Body positivity”
*I am cured of all insecurities, thanks Shane, for showing me my worth*
My body dysmorphia, the disordered eating ... just gone, like that. Incredible
Orla Browne dysphoria? never heard of 'er
He a little confused, but he got the spirit
He was trying his best.
"Love your body everyday"
Y’all don’t know how much this series means to me. It’s literally the one thing filling me with joy in this time of sadness loss and high stakes stress
"Grow a mustache if you have to!"
Shane? You okay?
You have a mustache.
Shane: Just... eat... uh...Body positivity!
Ryan: Nailed it
Everyone's talking about Shane quote on body positivity while I felt this quote by Thelma Todd saying "Building on beauty is the worst thing any girl can do" is most relatable than any other body positivity struggle I've ever seen.
I like it too. As a beauty queen herself, Thelma Todd probably had to learn this herself. Lots of beautiful women came to Hollywood in those days, but if that was all you had, you weren't going to have a career. You had to hone your skills as well.
I saw somewhere, probably tumblr that being beautiful with no personality is basically clickbait in real life
Ikr! I liked that thought actually
We really need to popularize that quote. I see WAY too many young women and girls trying to capitalize on their looks to the detriment of things like their education, personality, character, skills etc.
yeah the world is a shallow place, sadly we can't all be a "jack of all trades" in regards to balancing looks, personality, career and all that, no one is a perfect package, and no one should have to be. i think we should all learn to appreciate ourselves, but also never assume we're perfect the way we are, cause there's always room for improvement, as long as we're the ones in charge of what improvements we might need, i think that's not a bad way to be
One day they're gonna solve a case and we won't know how to act.🤣
I love the chemistry of these two guys.
They have perfect chemistry for the show.

Shane: “ there is a darkness in tom hiddleston”

take it back, ryan.
_take it back_
We all know he doesn't mean it.
Apollo 11 yah it’s all part of his “I’m tough” act until they go and look for ghosts😂
I was looking for this comment 😭
your username is interesting
Say sike right now
This whole episode is Shane just struggling to speak 😂
shane forgetting that this was about the murder of thelma and then remembering and being bummed out is a mood
Omg hero
My great grandmother did this to her youngest daughter. It still makes me laugh.
Heidi Jane ah i just commented this also before i saw your comment, strange legal precedent
I never knew this but it makes sense
I just left a similar comment... yours is way better worded tho! 😅
Seemed like a cool lady. Way ahead of her own time.
Ikr
That’s prolly why she got murdered
Royal Maniac probably**
@@simplyburnsy u can also say prolly lmao
Ph yea
Hell blacklisting still happens, like brandon fresher spoke out about being sexually assulted and for about ten years wasn't in any movies. And just recently is finally back.
"Who eats only peas and carrots!?"
Someone whose contractually obligated to keep a certain weight requirement.
Oh yeah
I'd never have got that. Well done
That makes sense.
I feel like Shane lost the ability to speak English this episode... “do-... ju-... body positivity.” And “the hair back then... very... firm. Firm... firm.” And “yes... ThICK!” Lmao you okay Shane
"Cleardaly" there was some rye in that mug.
My brain is large. Many synapses
#nailedit
I think he was the one drinking three fingers of rye
We will confirm that Shane lost his brains this episode
"That's crazy 'cause I don't care about you"
Hello, 911? I would like to report a murder
Shane: A little extra sauce on this one.
Ryan: *epic laughter*
"that's crazy, because i don't care about you" damn, looks like we have two murders this episode
Shane looked so hurt

“Do body positivity.”

yess! we need stuff like 'I'm the Phantom of the Sky!' :)
And then put the sticker on my walls
@@msmity63 it is my wall. Everywhere I look: A LITTLE EXTRA SAUCE ON THIS ONE

“I have recalled and now I’m sad” is the story of my life
"The trunk of her car was also full of Christmas presents for family and friends"
That's the saddest line in the whole video
fun fact: she probably left her ex-husband $1 for legal reasons. if she had left him nothing, he could have filed as being forgotten in her will and received a portion of her money, but by leaving him just $1, it shows that she remembered him in the will and decided to leave him as close to nothing as she could :))
Katie Puperi 25 ¢ is how much I would leave

Cant wait for the simps to come after THIS
Matilda Persson yeah we should always respect and love our selves
Matilda Persson it was sweet 🥺🥺😀
If the person in your display pic is actually you then you're definitely not hideous. 😊
We love an accepting king
man thelma sounded like a really fun person and quite progressive for her time. hope her case gets solved one day ):
I dont think it will, only speculation here and I dont think any suspect is alive now............... But at least some justice will be made and be heard to Thelma's family
I hope so too she probubly didnt deserve it.
I solved it. But i died before i could serve justice
Ryan says he’s drinking 10 fingers of rye. *stacks 8 fingers together.

Car J. Lol! Cut later to that pic of Vanderbilt’s hair. That looked extremely FIRM.

Made that realization along with the fact that this is the founder of Vanderbilt jeans. What a life.
i want anderson cooper to kiss me on the lips
The Vanderbilts are an incredibly wealthy family
She couldn't have been put in the garage after her murder since the coroner stated in the autopsy that her blood saturation was 70% carbon monoxide- meaning she was breathing when she was in the garage

Peas and carrots sounds like a reasonable meal if you’re contractually obligated to be 122 pounds lol
I came down here to say the same thing. Food for thought in the #PostMortem
especially if she had alcohol and party food the night before, considering how high in calories those tend to be
If I had a contractual obligation to keep a determined weight, I'd be living out of ravitch food, vodka, cigarettes and long exercise routines too...
Such a fascinating case, full of amazing information and interesting theories. The banter between Shane and Ryan is brilliant
I love hearing about peoples crimes that Ive never heard of before. Love your take on these circumstances surrounding these cases. Perfecto!!
