I can confirm from my recent visit to Japan, Coach Hiraoka is every bit as knowledgeable, attentive and humble as he seems in this video! Truly a great experience to learn from him during my stay in Tokyo.
I think they try to teach a lot of europeans to use their legs more, I think it's common for europeans to overshoot using back. Many have too low of hip start position supposedly. But I've also heard that you should use where you are the strongest and that's a summary of your anatomy so some need to be leg focused and some back focused. But I don't know though, the sika guys would certainly have an opinion on that. Really like these videos with japanese lifter commentaries. Japanese lifting culture seems different and also cool and chill.
There was mentioning by Gabriel Sincranian maybe year or two ago that Italians don't squat as heavy as forexample Romanians do, but relied very much on speed. However that seems to have changes based on videos these past months. I also have followed one Finnish weightlifter (Anni Vuohijoki) who seemed to try to approach weightliftign from point-of-view of athleticism and relied lots on jumps and other power movements in her training. She did squat as well, but i think her training was close to track&field training. So yeah you can't really say European as overall term because there are so many different styles. Thou i'm total n00 and greatest part of video was to hear that there is cyclist in the vid. EDIT: Yeah, i don't know if there is back vs legs debate as much in Europe as there is power/speed vs strength. Maybe that's the general European gimmick?
14:40 Cyclists don't need to think so much on terms of fast-twitch vs slow-twitch. Gear choises can help to get less torque and more power, or vice-versa, so person should understand what are his strengths and try to play with those. Athlete can make torque (=strength) their main thing while ignoring power-production. Top level cyclists don't do weightlifting movements. Infact i've yet to see track cyclists do any heavy weightlifting movements, they almost purely squat. There is one really interesting interview of Mehdi Kordi by Scientific Triathlon. He was Dutch olympic coach on track cycling for Tokyo Olympics and that is SUPER interesting interview even if audio quality is close to horrible, but it's worth the trouble.
The guy in the video is almost certainly a keirin rider, so he’s basically a track sprinter. Track bikes don’t have gears, and as a sprinter he has to be able to accelerate suddenly, so he absolutely does need to think about slow vs fast twitch muscle, and power production. There is a lot of variation in the training of top level cyclists. I disagree with your assertion that they “almost purely squat”; yes that is the most common barbell lift, but clean and deadlift variations are also very common. And some of them do incorporate Olympic weightlifting into their strength routine, so you are wrong there as well.
It should be "ah gee toh" because it's spelled that way in kana. I think the narrator either mispronounced it or may have said it the way they thought a westerner might interpret it.
Why is everyone trying to get famous off of Clarence Kennedy? What big competition has he ever won??? He's on steroids and does lifts in his gym, wow, impressive. He's no Olympian, and has not competed against ANYBODY of Olympic caliber.
Any weliftweights x Clarence collab is an instant watch🎉
Thanks 😁😁
Absolutely agreed
So interesting listening to the coach speak about the difference between European and Japanese lifters
I'm not sure it's necessarily taught, they are both just emphasizing their strengths.
Clarence: "I'm tired today"
Also Clarence: hits the fastest 110 triple and then 120 for 5 you've ever seen from the blocks lol
Very impressive.
Have you seen Oleg Chen block snatch? Or Clarence is the only oly lifter in the world?
@@qltcnthis was clarence’s first time snatching from blocks
Yo the “IM KOREAN.” Floored me. Great video man! New sub!
It really is amazing the explosiveness of Clarence second pull. :o Would love to lift in this gym one day.

Coach seems very thoughtful. A student and a teacher of the sport at the same time.
zack out here fighting for his life lol LET'S GOO
That CJ Cummings impression tho lol
Everything about this video is fantastic, thank you so much for this !!
it looked so cool when the train passed by at 13:43. it was like the gym was built into a moving train carriage
You are funny - you should be infront of the camera more often!! Thank you for your work, always great watching your videos.
Great commentary!

そう言えば、この間のインスタのショートで、ケネディが山本俊樹のTシャツ引っぺがした後に二人でバナナ食う動画流れてきましたが、
あの感じのふざけた動画も定期的に欲しいです。
Please tell TOSHIKI Yamamoto to upload more content on UA-cam + i like your content 😅💪🤞

Always good content, Jangho!
Great video
Awesome video dude! I was in Japan in April, gutted I didn't come visit the gym now 😭.
great vid 🙏🙏
Great video! Looks like an awesome gym
amazing video
I'm loving it
nice video wedontliftweights
Class video
OHHH a WL gym that accepts walk in? that's awesome!
Nice video! Anyone knows the song in the background at 13:20?
awesome video - love the power clean w/pause into the jerk - need to try that. question - where do I find blocks like those? thank you!
Dude in the red tank is strong asf
I have chronic shoulder instability in my right, so snatch always scares the s*** out of me. Loved this video though
Those guys pushing all those memes about we not lift weights… dude this editing and storytelling rocks they gotta take notes 😂
At the start the guys are So sweet
hello, anyone knows where I can buy this kind of blocks in Europe?
I grab the bar so wide so I can power jerk and I still hurt my dongler sometimes on cleans.. that shiz hurts
The crazy thing for me it's Clarence just casually doing it with running shoes 😅
I think it's because he literally only brought a backpack to Japan, no suitcase, and he didn't have the space for his Olympic lifting shoes.
I just want to know whats going on with HarrySquatters back, it sets, and unsets during the 1st pull?
“What goes through your head when snatching?”
Welp sir …my head goes through the snatch…that’s how it goes for me at least
gud one
Hey Clarence and crew if you read this, what did you think of the Uesaka barbells? I've read that they're actually better than Eleiko.
In Zack’s Lift Companion episode with him they complain about the Uesaka bar they’re lifting on because it doesn’t spin enough.
Well dang. I read that the Uesaka bar's dry rotation system was designed so it spins just when needed and then stops quickly. @@schinza
@@kmidst_fn5225 some people like a lot of spin some people like a controlled amount. I’ve lifted in competitions with Uesakas I think they’re fine.
I actually didn't know Jangho was Korean
He probably was born or raised in Japan because his Japanese is perfect.
WLWxClarence merch dropping soon ? Maybe some anime style thing for the weightlifting weebs?
Maybe!

Yes, Ishida is a keirin rider.
Why isn't Eoin lifting?
His spirit is weak

Had no idea Agito was pronounced "ah ji toh", I figured it followed Japanese pronunciation like アギト "ah gih toh"

I’m sure Clarence has not explained yet why he’s being slapped by a muscular woman to us or his wife 😮
