I have a Love / Hate relationship with the ShellSnappers. I hate their versitality of armaments that quickly beat down Aloy if not dodging constantly; I love the loot available if Aloy shreds it off the machine and / or kills it. About the ShellSnapper on the island near San Francisco: My first attempt to best it, I got my @$$ handed to me. It took a while, and it was a resounding thrashing because I ~tried~ to stay out of its way, yet it dominated me. My second attempt, I played it smarter, setting traps, dodging more effectively, and whittling away at it. Almost done, and the darn thing jumped and crushed me! Third attempt was much more deliberate, using better strategy, and I finally triumphed! Then I did the most stupid thing ever. I engaged in one more machine battle on the way out, with a Widemaw, I believe... and it killed me before I had a chance to SAVE. W...T...F... So, the Flower protecting the loot in the overgrown structure is ~still~ on my map. {sigh} I'm gonna wait a while before returning to "finish" this grudge match. "Just you wait, Henry ShellSnapper. Just you wait!"
It is pretty darn hard to take down an apex on Very Hard. I was trying it when making this video, and got so close a couple times. The first time, it was at 10% health or less and it DESTROYED me with the power beam attack. The second time I suffered the same fate as you… dodged at the wrong time and got crushed by its belly slam. I know it ranks lower in terms of level compared to other machines, but I find it a lot harder than something like the scorcher.

Shellsnappers definitely a fun yet hard addition to the series. I tend to use the boom sticks when fighting it. That and acid bombs or traps really effective. Traps are pretty powerful in Forbidden West.

hey asp! something I've noticed is if you were to go to say "un" corrupt Shellsnapper say. go far to the right in that row of machine options and you will see one gold question mark, it says to go to more cauldrons even though you've completed them all!
It’s actually a glitch that still hasn’t been patched. It’s supposed to be for the Sunwing! I thought it might be a secret hidden machine but unfortunately not 😭
You mentioned that it has a plasma attack since that’s what the glowblast storage is for but I did not see any plasma attack in the combat overview. Could you provide a bit more information?

at this point you might as well turn this version of a channel solely for the horizon franchise.... for a time anyways. as a 3rd sequel is still....uncertainly too far from our current understanding right now. as currently the horizon games' solo-player experience state at the moment and not as a continuated type game like the Destiny franchise, etc we would get bored eventually Months after a DLC's lifespan too.

I found the 2nd location landscape to be helpful when fighting one of those. I used the shelter area to keep my distance.

I just defeated an apex shellsnapper in NG+ on Ultra Hard, and it was a total Nightmare.
Brittle and Crushed states are a real pain on Ultra Hard 😖
