Why do you need Beadlock Wheels? Tech Tip Tuesday with Mac Fab Bead Lock Owner Tommy Kirk

- Double Beadlock wheels seem excessive to the weekend warrior. For most of us we think of beadlocks as expensive and overkill. I was first introduced to their importance years ago when I watched a screwed tire rip to shreds on Chris Tuten's wild Turbocharged Mustang.
While at Lights Out 11 last weekend we caught up with Mac Fab Beadlocks owner Tommy Kirk to get some more in depth knowledge about beadlocks. A double beadlock is not only a convenience piece when drag racing, but is also a matter of safety. Tire spin on the wheel, screws, and dismounting can be downright dangerous. But don't take it from us, listen to the pro.
Stay tuned for Next Week's Tech Tip Tuesday where we talk more with Tommy about optimum wheel sizing with specific tires including the 235, 275, and 315 radials!

Tech Tip Tuesday best way to start the day
David Van Voris heck yes!
This dude knows his process and products!!
You talk safety, then why is it beadlocks are not road legal? But great information for beginners.
Doug as always your doing a great job. Thanks for taking the time to educate us. I know where I’m buying my parts from and am glad I am.
Great interview, learned more than i could of imagined, great to know smart people are looking out for our safety, thank you! 😊
I'm definitely going to use mac fab very soon. awesome video
Im going to see tommy monday!!!
If I convert my existing wheels does it make them wider
I remember when you sponsored Stevie fast Jackson when he ran his orange mustang with procharger.
You're right you're right I had no idea that was out there 👍👍👍👍👍👍
always learning something new with tech tip . awesome bro 👍👍
Great info learned alot.
Good info, I will do a 1.2 60" and move the tire a few inches. I didn't really think about mismatched wheel speed causing the car to pull during launch, or the potential danger of doing so. I will be moving beadlock up on my priority list.
Wow that's a bad ass 60' if you'd get bead locks how much you think that will improve your 60' time ?
Running dirt oval I have marked the tyre on the rim,, both sides. But they turned different amounts. Yes Hoosier X plies which is about all that is available.
Very cool process and company. ..
But he still said "suck it off "
Jeremy Eubanks Hahahaha
Thanks Doug...conversion info right on time. Just saved me a ton of money!!
Barry Charity happy to help!
Does anybody know what kind of wheels are these?
Very cool video, Mac Fab does great work!
Those guys should make a trip to the Freedom Factory for a big event and do some work there.
Great info !! Thank you
I have a question for you all. At the 1:23 mark you talk about the screw screwing into the tire for biasply tires only not radials. Does this screw in with the beadlocks? Thanks for your help.
So I have a question at the 1:23 mark you talk about screws going into the tire. Is that with the beadlock?
Wonder if they can do my 4 lug convo pros.
And now Lyle Barnett is sponsored by you and he tells people about you.
Does macfab also narrow wheels? I have 17x9.5 front wheels for my cruising set up that I'd like to go smaller with.
Some ppl try to over sell there junk.
Why you need SFI certified ....
Is there a power level or et number where its recommended to go bead lock? Or is it case by case?
jcb454 I think the best way is to keep an eye on tire movement. Put marks on wheels and tires and when they start moving then consider it. N the short term you can also use permatex brand hi tak glue on the bead. That’ll be effective for a while until it’s no longer effective
Are those Micky Thompson wheels?
I thought they were discontinued?
Doug keeps finding them for sale on FB groups and ends up buying most of them 😂
