A step-by-step instruction on how to do the Bungee Glitch in Plants Vs Zombies: Game of the Year Edition on Steam. I hope this can help you perform the glitch yourselves. I couldn't reach a streak of 10 to get the "Better Off Dead" achievement without it.
Basically, you need to place multiple Bungee Zombies on the same Sunflower to duplicate the amount of Sun dropped. You need to Pause with Spacebar and repeatedly spam Pause/Unpause and Bungee Zombies in the same frame. Pausing the game allows you to move the mouse so you can place the Bungee when you unpause, but this all has to be done very quickly with each unpause.

Your investment is actually lower depending on how many bungees you use. 2 only nets you 150 instead of 200 if you let a zombie eat it that you'd place anyways. However 3+ Bungees will always give more than what you could get.

Thank you I finally got it by doing 3 bungees for each sunflower.
I don't think it's possible on mobile,since not only is the pause button on the other side of the screen, bungees spwan way to quickly and selecting zombie+pause button take WAY more than a half a second
Tip with collecting the sun: If you use the regular click and middle click you can get the sun twice as fast so your sun won't disappear

Hey Necro, thanks for this. Two things. Firstly, the maths doesn't really seem to make much sense to do this - the gain per sunflower really works out to be 25 sun per three bungees placed (3 X 200 - 3 X 125 = 225 sun, vs 200 obtained naturally). I can't pull off four, I'm afraid. Am I missing something here? I seem to do better if I just play 'legit' - i.e. without the glitch.
Secondly, you sound like an Aussie that recently moved to the UK :D
In all fairness, I can't even keep up with my ability to math these days, so it may or may not be thoroughly accurate. As for the four in a row, it's sheer dumb luck of a mouse click like trying to get a headshot through the eye of a needle. I have an issue with shaky hands, too, which may or may not be a result of mild spectrum autism (Aspergers) so I tend to double-click a lot accidentally, especially when tense, so that may have helped me in the matter.
And as for the accent, I am Australian, but one who grew up watching American TV, so I never really developed a proper Aussie tongue. I moved onto UK stand-up comedy in the late teens, and picked up some Irish from watching Jacksepticeye. Now all my picked up accents roll into each other, and even I've no idea what the hell I'm spouting half the time, lol. Then again, that's how the iconic Australian accent formed in the first place.
The thing is you ultimately gain 75 sun for each bungee zombie placed on a sunflower because 200 - 125 so you just get 75 sun per bungee. It isn’t “200 gained naturally” because you still have to spend 125 sun on the bungee zombie in the first place
@@meraldlag4336 It took me a sec but what they're saying is if they use a lesser zombie, they get more per zombie, but they need this trick to get to higher levels.

You have to do THREE Bungee Zombies. Because 2 Bungee Zombies aren't worth it :
2 Bungee Zombies = 125 + 125 = 250 | 2 stacks of Sunflower = 400
Total = 400 - 250 = 150
You're losing 50 sun!

You guys are assuming zombies eating sunflowers is free. If you spend 125 sun on a buckethead zombie and it eats a sunflower, you only profit 75 sun.

@@shakal774 Unfortunately, I can't help you with the autoclicker, I never used one, and I'm not sure what the "last" version of the game is and how it's any different. I have the GOTY edition on Steam, and I'd have to reinstall the game to see for myself when I don't have work.

if your quick you can do 4 zombies and get around 750 sun possibly 5 but i have not managed to do that yet. ( thanks for tutorial very helpfull :) )

I tried this today and I could get multiple zombies to land on the sunflower but it only gave me 200 sun. I tried it a couple of times but the first time I started w/ 250 sun, used it for 2 bungee zombies which meant that after buying those I had zero sun and after they both landed only ended up with a total of 200 sun.
Each successive time I tried it I still only got 200 sun so I have no idea what was happening. Maybe I'm messing something up or it's just my computers speed (which I like to believe is pretty good).
According to the PVZ wiki the bug relies on the lag of older software. My laptop's from 2015-ish, so if your computer is a new off-the-shelf model, or the graphics drivers have been overclocked significantly, it may not work.
@@necroarcanistxiii yeah I think that's probably why. My computer is probably about as old but it has a really good processor in it despite it's age. I just think it's funny that it's slow enough to let me spawn two bungie dudes but fast enough that only one of them gets sun

@@Deception96 Vasebreaker was slightly easier for me. You're probably aware, but going from the edge of the screen in would give you more time to find some plants to start attacking whatever comes out. Just remember the words of Crazy Dave if the first thing you get is a Gigantaur...

@@Deception96 Yeah, the RNG involved with the garden setups makes it trickier. If you're lucky you'll get the scaredy-shroom setup early on.

Sorry, but no. I direct you to this Trivia excerpt from the I, Zombie page of the PvZ Wiki that states: "This does not work on the iPhone version, as only one Bungee Zombie can target a space at any given time." I assumed it would work on any version of the game when I made this video, but it seems to only be on PC. The same quote adds that speed hacks are possible to alter the game in such a way to make it more possible, but I would have no idea where to get those. Mobile gaming is not my area of expertise.

Wouldn't know how to use one of those. When it comes to the new cool gadgets, I live under a rock :p But from my understanding of those from video thumbnails, it could potentially work with the right macro setup. Not that I'm gonna go try it or anything.

It would have to be something insane. I can run modded Terraria multiplayer (About 3.4 Gig of RAM alone) with Windows Media Player blasting Black MIDI, several notepad files open, Discord chat active AND Downloading videos at 360p without getting any lag. I've had my current laptop for about 3 years.
My pc only has 4 gigs of ram so modded terraria multiplayer would probably crash it
@@kpo8718 I've been playing with two friends who have a potato of a computer and a high-powered beast, and it's the beast computer that can't cope with the game, yet the potato runs fine.

Not as far as I know. Which version are you playing? This is the GOTY edition on Steam.
@@necroarcanistxiii I use the android version, it probably just doesn't work on mobile because of the differences in pausing the game. Or I'm just not doing it right.
@@crimsonterror5795 Android might be patched, or the glitch just doesn't work due to the different processing power on modern phones. The glitch works better on older PC's with less video RAM. My old Lenovo laptop from 2015 only runs 128mb of RAM for video. I have yet to try on my new desktop with 6gb V-RAM.
Even if I do the bungee glitch I still can’t reach 10 waves. How the fuck does the game expect me to reach 10 waves if the zombies are slow as shit and I don’t get enough sun to spawn more zombies?
Have to remember that the sun carries through levels.

Tou need to get lucky as far as I know on the second wave. There’s this one set-up where its all scaredy shrooms and extra sunflowers, the wave is super easy to beat and you get a ridiculous head start in sun.

thanks for this trick! I finally got the last achievement because of this! this was a pain since I've been stuck here for ages. This might be a little cheaty too but you can also use the speed hack of cheat engine and set it to lower speeds and you can get more than 15 bungee zombies in a single flower using the technique in the video. I slowed it down to 0.05 speed and managed to put 17 bungee zombies in a single flower. You could do this and get to 9990 suns around streak 6.
Mathwork noted, but I generally don't use Cheat Engine or Speedclickers or stuff like that. Outright cheating because you can isn't fair if it's your first playthrough.
I've 100% PvZ in the past, so the only thing I'd want Cheat Sheet for it, is giving 1000 Tree Foods b/c grinding for that completely burned out my interest in the game. I'm bored of grinding $2.51 Million just to unlock a cosmetic cheat code that turns zombie gibs into confetti.
@RETRO Rather grow a real tree, at least I'd get something out of it. Like fruit, or a walking stick if the branches are sturdy.

Using cheats on an exploit is cheating. Might as well just use cheat engine to give you 9999 sun.
Ironic that doing this glitch requires more skill than getting "Better Off Dead" itself.
Note that this is worthless unless you can do a minimum if 3. Since you are spending 125 sun, you are only gaining 75 per bungee. At 2 this actually nets you only 150 sun, a loss. At 3+ you begin gaining sun.
And you have to go through the effort of getting 375 sun minimum and clearing waves as cheaply as possible in order to begin doing the glitch every round. Doesn't help that the RNG actively punishes you the better you are doing. To try and get to a streak of 10 minimum, you have to get the rare Scaredy-Shroom+Sunflower combo as early as possible, within waves 3-6 if you can for best chances.

Looks like it doesnt work on older, modded versions. I tried it on PVZ Expanded by Sus stew, a version of the game where there was still Mickael Jackson zombie, and doesnt work even with a .5 second difference. Tried with an old laptop too
Wouldn't know anything about modding PVZ, but I guess the updated engine patched that out.
As kids nowadays say, you also need a good gaming chair. In seriousness though, thank god for this video xD completing the achievement is a nightmare with no exploits
My gaming chair is an old armchair I got off my cousin, lol. But yea, at least for those on PC it's a lifesaver for those whose prayers to RNGjesus go unheard.

I haven't tried yet, but I do have an old Windows 8 desktop with an older cracked version of the game. Since it's an older, slower machine, the chances of performing the trick are greater. I'll have a look later. (I just got home from my job and it's 6 degrees Celsius outside, so currently in bed trying to warm back up :p)

I can't do it. I get the two Bungee Zombies coming down, but not simultaneously like that to get double the Sunflower amount. After I pause and try to click on the bungee zombie a second time, it doesn't black out like that. In fact, it takes a delay to even select. I think the glitch has been kinked out or something or maybe my computer isn't slow enough?
Chances are you just don't have the timing down. I just checked the game to see if I can still do it, and I got a 4-Bungee combo easily. Keep in mind that once you place the 1st Bungee Zombie, you need to pause with spacebar the second you click your mouse, and then to select the second you need to unpause/click/re-pause in one fell swoop. It took me a few tries to begin with, but once I wrapped my head around the timing, it's easy(ish). Also chances are that if you ARE clicking the icon fast enough and it DOESN'T black out and it's not selected, your mouse may not be registering your clicks fast enough. You can adjust these settings in the Control Panel (some sort of delay option, don't really recall...) but if that doesn't work, try using a different mouse. I wouldn't know what else to say since I can't see what you're doing exactly. Hopefully you can figure it out though.

Been trying this for nearly 20 minutes. Either I'm doing it wrong or it ain't working no more. The second click to place the bungee zombo doesn't seem to register
You have better luck on older, slower devices. If your device is up to date it may process the clicks before you can get the second input. I got the 4 in a row on my 2015 Lenovo laptop, I can barely pull it off on my 2021 Erazer desktop.
Anyone knows how to do this with an auto clicker to get more than 3 bungees per sunflowers? I wrote a simple script of click-pause with AHK but could only manage 3 bungees per sunflowers and even then i'd still get fucked by the RNG, this mode is brutal. Still have yet to encounter the scaredy-shroom/sunflower layout though, could probably abuse the hell out of it with the glitch if i ever come across it one day

I love how in my game it doesn't work. Went I put the first bungee and pause the game, the next one will be available to put again, but when I dispause and click in the bungee to put another, it just doesn't work, like if it had cool down
What version are you running, and on what device? The glitch doesn't tend to work on newer, faster CPU's. The laptop I recorded this on only had 128 megabyte of video processing power.
Make sure you’re pressing space and not escape to pause
does this work with full screen enabled?
It should, but I personally play PvZ windowed so that I don't have to move the mouse as far between the seed packs and the lawn spots. Saved my arse once or twice on Survival: Endless.

I don't think the GOTY version is getting patched. It's just not worth the hassle for a long finished product. PvZ 2 is making EA plenty on microtransactions and PvZ 3 is in development hell.

Myth: put a pole vauting zombie and when she jumps leave the level and it will have another vault
Myth: Busted. Placed a Pole Vault Zombie, waited until they were mid-jump, and quit the game (Tested with Save and Quit and just clicking the X button in Windowed Mode to forcequit), no zombie duplication occurred.

I played the crap out of this game (made it to a streak of 20 with the help of 3 bonus levels) but now that I discovered this trick I can never get it to work more than twice on the same plant. That extremely limits its use as I can only make a "profit" of 150 suns per plant which means that unless I can clear out the remaining row with less than 150 suns, the glitch makes no sense to use. Is there a more efficient way of pulling this trick off? Like with some kind of program that runs in the background?
Never really tried using external programs, others mentioned macros, but I wouldn't know the first thing about using them.

It took me more than 10 minutes to realise that it's space button to pause. I know that you mentioned it at 2:01, but imagine that not everyone (like me) are good at speaking english, especially of listening someone speaking it, so you could atleast put it in the video description. Fun fact: I reached 13 streak in I, zombie without using this method.
I've managed to reach a streak of 18 on the mobile version, where you can't use the glitch anyway because it clicks off the zombie when you pause.
