THANKS- my 4000 looks like your rewind assembly. Just cut the old knot off the inside, took the rope off. Got the new rope inserted and a knot done, held the rope up and wound 4 times counterclockwise, got the rope pulled out and slowly let it wind it up. The hardest part was cutting the rope and heating it, but got it into the handle, knot- ta da- shame it's too darn cool to crank it, but it sure pulls through. I used 3/16th Blue Hawk diamond braided nylon/polyester rope from lowes. You showed me that taking this off wouldn't go like a cartoon BOING everywhere and how to thread it. Thanks.
Your coil ring is sticking to plastic cover but in my case when I open 3 screws it came in two pieces, one on which we round rope and other was outer part on which we screw 3 nuts. Any idea how to stick these both back?
as easy as this repair is these guys used a drill a rivet gun changed the bit in the drill a small piece of rope and a gutter hanger.... they could have done it right for 10 times less work.
