Yes ,my favourite girl group of all time🔥 , the ranking : 1. Don't Be Happy 2. Heeheehaheho 3. Peppermint Chocolate my bias is Whee-in (as they say when you Whee-in you can't Whee-out and that what happened to me)
Unfortunately Purple Hawke never made part 3 about the group. That's Wheein during the beginning of Make Me Happy. This is one of those "how is a pre-debut song by rookies?!" songs. Yeah, they romanized it as Whasa at first but it's been Hwasa ever since. In Korean Wheein & Hwasa's names both start with the letter H followed by a two letter combo for Wi (wee) and Wa respectively. The two guys at the end of Peppermint Chocolate were members of boy group Vixx. Heeheehaheho part 2 is a new recording and arrangement without Geeks they did for their 2 cd career retrospective album I Say Mamamoo: The Best in 2021. It's going to be a long time before you get to it. That was Hwasa doing the whispered vocals during Heeheehaheho. Correct, that was Solar afterwards but it was Wheein at the very end. They've fooled me many times so don't feel bad for getting it wrong. Though they have very distinctive voices there are areas where their styles and timbres overlap, which is part of the reason their harmonies are so good. In general Solar's voice is clear and bell-like, Wheein's is breathy and airy, Hwasa's is smokey and whiskey-soaked, and Moonbyul is the alto with a velvety sort of timbre. I compare them to a jazz horn section - Solar is a trumpet, Wheein an alto sax, Hwasa a tenor sax, and Moonbyul a clarinet. If you think you're going to be done with Mamamoo after 90 songs you've got another think coming. Moonbyul has over 100 songwriting credits on her own. I haven't done a count myself but moomoos have said they have well over 300 songs, which I assume would include solo and subunit songs, OSTs, CFs, and collabs with other artists. Enjoy the ride!
@@K-RossReacts "Better" songs to look forward to include Better Than I Thought on their 2018 masterpiece EP Blue;S, the 2022 debut song Better by the subunit Mamamoo+ (Solar & Moonbyul) and the chorus for one of MMM's and moomoos' favorite songs, Wind Flower, the title track on Blue;S, which includes the affirmation that after a breakup things will "Get better day by day." If it sounds like I'm teasing you about great songs you can't listen to yet you're probably right.😉
...just slightly late to this, but am surprised nobody has mentioned this about "don't be happy" The mv only has the second half of the song, while the first half of the studio version has a lot more bumkey (and yes, his voice is incredible). They cut that part out of the mv to put the introduction to the girls at the end There is actually a great performance the five did of the song for a show called yu huiyeol's sketchbook, mamamoo's first time on the show. The show, when it was around, was hosted by a beloved musician who loved introducing south korea to musicians of various stripes, usually less known ones, though he also had plenty of well-known, too. And he basically became mamamoo's uncle after their first appearance there Their first appearance was an interesting episode as it had each of the guests perform with the guests before and after them, as the lineup was set up around the ways they knew each other (and between the two performances he interviewed the artist). Mamamoo was the final artist for the episode, so they only paired with bumkey, doing both "don't be happy" and an amazing cover of "all of me". I'd definitely suggest checking the whole (hour and a half long) episode on your own time sometime if you can find it, just because of that set-up. (I've been introduced to quite a lot of incredible artists through this show. Too bad it's gone)
Mamamoo the vocal queens! My rankings: 1. Don't Be Happy 2. Heeheehaheho 3. Peppermint Chocolate HEY OUR RANKING ARE THE EXACT SAME FOR ONCE! I think Don't Be Happy is my favorite with the chorus that was the most memorable and the best sounding of the 3. Can't wait for more.
I'm sorry everything wen't down as it did and you had to take your videos down. I've really enjoyed your reactions so far, so i'm really glad you're continuing on with your mamamoo ranking. Especially since a lot of my favourite songs from them are b-sides so not many people react to them. Info dump - The MOO YT guide sologrey mentioned is great. If it didnt exist in a fandom with the purplehawke one (the one you watched) people would be hyping it up everywhere. Happily for you, the purplehawke one is so well known MOO YT made theirs with the expectation you had probably seen purplehawke's. So even while covering the same basic ideas. it has new/different clips to illistrate each point. As well as updated information. (mid 2022 instead of early 2020). It also has a part focusing on the group as a whole rather than just focusing on members. Since the other one is lost to us i highly recomend it. Moos always say Mamamoo is better live and recomend killing voice and the immortal songs medley to draw people in. Since Killing voice is lost the medley is a must. Immortal songs 2 is a korean show that invites acts to cover/re-invent 'immortal songs'. As the moo yt guide will tell you, mamamoo was on it several times. My favourite cover of theirs was actually a version of Tom Jones' Delilah. The raps moonbyul wrote into the song are epic as hell. Sadly, those performances are a copyright strike risk. Fortunately, they did a medley at one of their first major concerts which is safe. Also hype as hell. Especially when you know they did it halfway into a 3-4 hr long concert. Also people might ask for a reaction to some of their stages from a competition called queendom (several girl groups were pited against eachother). Especially to i miss you (THAT song from killing voice) but those are also a copyright risk. You might want to put them solely on patreon if you react to them. When it comes to mv's they are quite often double posted to mamamoo's channel and a music distibutors channel. The english subs are always the best on Mamamoo's official channel. On that channel they also have a series called MMMTV which is basically behind the scenes of mv's, concerts etc and its chaotic as fuck, and has largely been subtitled in english. As well as the ever interesting tipsy livestreams. If you want funny/chaotic compilations i recomend - Why MAMAMOO should stop hosting their own show - issamo_o Mamamoo moments I think about a lot - holy Hwasa 10 Minutes of Mamamoo flirts each other on stage - wheeluv mememoo (this one is ... interesting ...) mamamoo dance practices but they keep getting distracted - mememoo (in 9 years they've uploaded like 3 serious dance practices. The rest descend into madness in 3 seconds. but if you don't want to watch them theres a couple of compilations like this, that have all the best moments) I'm also a fan of the live pokemon ost they did. Which is a shame, since most people don't even know it exists. Sorry for the ridiculously long comment. I look forward to more videos. 1. Don't be happy (i especially love the electro swing at the end) 2. HEEHEEHAHEHO 3. Peppermint Choclate (i think it a good song, it just sounds a little overproduced to me)
I love mamamoo and I now LOVE you for this comment! I’m going to be referencing this a lot when setting up for a Mamamoo video! Thanks so much for this amazing message. Im actually prepping a patreon very soon so some of these videos sound like the PERFECT starters 😄 I’m hearing so many wonderful things about Queendom performances. The copyright strike aspect is so frustrating. I’m making sure not to watch them yet though, I want it to be a shared experience with thr community 😄 So when the patreon is up, I’m thinking a lot of queendom may be on the way. 😏🤟❤️
So the guide you reacted to was actually an old one. It's great for showing off their personalities. Since you lost the last guide reaction I would suggest the mamamoo introduction guide of 2022 by MOO YT, it's the most up-to-date with the first part about the members and the second part about the group.
This was interesting, not what I expected 🤔My first 3 Mamamoo songs. I totally love their voices. i am not sure if I would always be in the mood for this kind of songs, but you never know. Often songs grow on me. I will continue to check out more to see where it goes. Of these 3 songs I like Dont be happy best and Peppermint Chocolate is next and the other one is my least favorite so far. 🫶
The group of guys at the end of peppermint is Vixx very well-known at the time, sadly disbanded a while back. I remember this group kept appearing in my time line, after a couple of days I clicked, was their first appearance on IMS 2, discovered this was only 6 months after debut, IMS2 was a big thing invite only stage.
Awesome Ross 👌 Yes you are right it looks like The Triplets of Belleville 😉 1 - Don’t be happy 2 - peppermint Chocolate 3 - Heeheehaheho Can’t wait for Mister Ambiguous 🙌
About the different spelling of Hwasa's name in Don't Be Happy: romanisation is kind of half art, half approximation of which spelling is most likely to give closest results. Technically Wheein's name is Hwee-in but the Hwee is so difficult for foreigners that Whee sounds better and will be understood. So they probably thought about spelling "Whasa" but in the end wanted to differentiate H and W.
@@K-RossReacts Don't forget the CF's (Songs for adverts) like Gleam, Woo Hoo, and Wanna be Myself (absolute bangers).😃 If you add solos, CF's, OSTs (as a group and solo) and Collabs/features you'll be over 150 songs. Enjoy the journey.
Mamamoo, 4 biases, 4 wreckers. Not sure how RWB managed to get 4 soloists into one group. So good.
"Don't be happy" on top for me.
Props to the talent scout, Nate 😂👏
