what I learned in this video:
- The tires were cold
- great kick of acceleration
- really impressive
And it looks so bloody slow lol
@@gersmith he didn't even pushing
@@gersmith 1. It's fucking Monaco. 2. DC clearly wasn't giving it full beans and as he said Formula E cars don't get tyre warmers.
@@thomashayhurst6547 I see you didn’t watch this video …….Nor is sarcasm something you are familiar with.
@@gersmith I'm autistic. Sarcasm is hard to pick up on for me, even less so from just text
They need a run and interview with Raikonnen. I wonder what kind of detailed highly in depth opinion he would have :D
Yeah… fast. Bwoah.
@@beedyboy1395 😂😂🤣
bwoah just another car to drive
It's fast
The question is: will it have the drink?
Thank you Formula E for not putting "that music" over DC's lap
dang the prismatic livery is wild
Not even one full lap around Monaco, on cold tyres. Where is the flying lap? How does this make it to UA-cam? 😅
Coulthard probably took more time taking photos than driving the car
@@AegisKIt would be no dent at all. If anything it would open the door for talking about how an ex F1 winner couldn't handle the power of the car.
@@bremCZ Felipe Massa wasn't exactly successful in Formula E either.
@@bremCZ or how the formula e cars have downforce of a balloon
There is an unwritten rule in motorsport which roughly goeth thus: When thy has only one prototype car giveth it not to a racing driver and let them do multiple laps for old habits die hard and carbon is expensive....
Electric cars are all about selling an image and hiding how poorly they perform
I think the acceleration is impressive
Road cars offer the same, though. It's a racing car, to be used before large paying audiences.
The aero bits are largely for show. The tyres are there for grip, but they barely do. The battery is there to provide power and range, but due to silly long races and bad tyres, the power is barely used, speed not shown.
If they cared about efficiency and pace, it would never have been open wheelers. Batteries would have been larger, and not as is the case in FE, small batteries resticted 40% or so more, just to slow the pace even more. Technologically it's a turd on top of an oil spill. I'd not be surprised of the pace car could lap faster than the "race" cars. Especially on high speed tracks.
Gen3 EVo is inching ahead, in theory. So far, so-called "progress" has often SLOWED down FE's pace.
Gen 4 will improve on these things. i know Gen 3 has frustrated alot of fans but its only a one time off. and i mean at least the acceleration is faster than an F1 car 😂
@@Cloxxki yes exactly i mean how many road cars have a 0-60 of 1.82 seconds, or 0-100km in 2.4 seconds (on the race tyre) and which for refrence is 0.2 seconds faster 0-100kmph that the current F1 cars.
Nobody got the joke so far here...🤣😂😁
Wouldve preferred to actually see a push lap instead of DC daudling about
0:10 Senna ❤
Any time of the lap between Gen3 and Gen3 Evo?
Claimed time difference is 1.5-3s faster a lap for gen3 evo vs regular gen3 cars.
It's almost the same, just 50 kW of the available power going to the front axle? I guess about 1 second mostly on traction out of the (usually) slow corners. They're claiming the new tyres will be less like pastic batters and perhaps some of the aero bits are less draggy and might even provide real downforce. After a decade of this series. We'll see, I guess. The greater power and lower weight of Gen seems to have SLOWED the cars. By design. With EV racing lame as can be justified, car brands get to survive the cut-throat transition a bit better. And that transition is built on lies anyway. It puts China in a great postion, as they started it. Why? If China had made catalystic converters mandatory on their cars, it would have rsulted in a world war over palladium and platinum. The metal just isn't there for so many cars and you can just decide to mine a bit more to match the demand, it doesn't work that way.
@@Cloxxki What the hell are you smoking?
It's super impressive
Rumor has it that the acceleration is super impressive.
I didn't much care for the first few generations of FE cars.
Thought they looked huge and ungainly.
I still don't love them as is.
But I think they are a huge improvement (looks and performance).
Good to see Formula E going in the right direction.

Miss daisy ride . I hope we'll see a demo when it's pushed before it hop in formula e
Bravo David, this must change you from F1
🙌😎🙏
It looks MUCH better than the GEN 3, much more aggressive looking
Can't say much about the performance, that was a painful slow run by DC!
Bloody Sunday drivers
Would it compare to the current F1 cars in acceleration ?
Apparently better, it can do 0-60 in 1.8 seconds. F1 is around 2.5 seconds
@@lewis8552 wow

@@TheEntertainmentsOnMe That reflects its superior (4wd) traction. It doesn't tell you the whole picture.
@@Dr.Ian-Plectthe top speed is easily worse, but racing is much better.
Gen 3 Evo, in my eyes, it's better than F1.... if you're thinking no... then why is F1 Partially electric.
19 seconds a lap slower. Slower than F3 cars.
Still not loud enough
Great race car but can it go on a track with long straight without running out of battery
Does Formula E invest any money or does any affort at all to develop or improve any technology, like F1 does? Or does it just take advantage of achievements of other automotive companies (which in this case probably means the Chinese ones)? If thes second option is true, this is just cheap entertainment for some small group of people without any purpose.
I want Max
Sounds hideous!
Gen 3 vacuum cleaner.
Nothing against DC, but that white hair makes him look 73 not 53 that he just turned.
what I learned in this video:
- can't watch formula E because the cars are still ugly as f***
Motorsports in general is not for you then. People here watch for racing, not the sound.
@@Amin-dd9mk Who talks about sound? I don't mind the sound of formula E. For me it's the shape of the cars. I really don't get why the formula E cars have to be look so completely different to an F1 or GP2 car while still having the same base architecture. If the cars would look more like a small F1 car that would be completely fine. But the shape of the current F-E cars is simply ridiculous to me.
And to be honest: I highly prefer series were the cars are visible different. Give them the same engine, battery, suspension etc. But let them develop an own bodywork like in F1. That would be a contest I would like to see.
And a word about racing: The F-E boss, Mr. Agag, once said in an interview that F-E had one of the best if not the best drivers on the planet. Okay... just from the few races I saw in my life I had the feeling that there is quite a huge share crash drivers who don't have the ability to survive a whole race without crashing into something or someone. I'm a fan of clean driving with skill. Not brutal force.
Therefore there are quite some reasons why the F-E seems unattractive to me. And sound is none of them.
So you can't watch the sport, simply because the car is ugly? Okay.
How was the acceleration?
impressive.
@@CarlPearcehow do you know
Sound of Star wars !!
🏎️⚡🏎️⚡🏎️⚡🏎️⚡
But what about the acceleration??
It's super impressive.
He barely pushed the car. Too much lift.
Did he even reach full throttle?
Don't think so. He lifted in the straight.
No, but it's the only Gen 3 Evo in existence and pushing too hard and putting it in a wall would be a tad inconvenient
Man, the world is so void without senna and schumacher
Imagine all of them doing this promo video alongside mr coulthard
This looks way better!!
David Coulthard: Schumacher Barrichello Hakkinen Where are they Villeneuve where are you is there anyone :( 😢
I feel very sad that a legend is here all by himself. We all had legends when we were kids. I am writing from Turkey, from a village in Turkey. Those years that I watched with pleasure as a child come to mind. Before going to school, there was a highway in front of our house. I would always watch the cars and I wondered if Schumacher would pass there or Barrichello, Coulthard or Hakkinen. It doesn't matter. The only important thing is whether I will be able to see him one day. It may be hard to believe but we lost our Golden Years. Naturally, we lost the beautiful years. Greetings from Turkey. I am a Formula 1 follower and Geography is destiny. Maybe if I was born in Germany or Finland, I would either be a Rally Pilot or a Formula 1 Pilot. and speaking of Rally, I also admired Peter Solberg and Ari Vatanen I never lost hope Love and Regards :(
That review was fair and square of you David ;)
It's always beautiful to see your helmet. Simply, clear. Stop with special helmet for every gp! FIA must stop this.
Sounds horrible 🤦
Yes, super impressive.
It looked really really slow😂😂😂😂😂
I fell asleep watching this.
That sound is ugly.
Pls give them slick tyres, they'll be insane
Would be awesome, yeah. The all weather tyres are great for enviroment, but not so great for racing.
But, then ITS again Like in formula 1 and much more away From real streat cars
Yeah, once they bring in slicks and better batteries that can be hot swapped and regenerated for a full grand prix in a full circuit, FE will surely be insane
@@bee_happy9969These tyres are one of the reasons why the races are so unique and extremely exciting and unpredictable. If they were driven with a lot of aerodynamic downforce and slick tyres, there would be almost no difference to F1. Then there would be just as many overtaking manoeuvres in Monaco as in Formula 1, namely none at all. The desire for slick tyres would ruin this racing series. However, the tyres in the 2025 Gen3Evo season will be slightly softer compared to this season. However, this makes overtaking more difficult.
No point yet, they'd have to shorten the races because they'd be on the power longer and harder per lap. They need more battery capacity first.
That's one helluva car.... bring on the Evo!!
Just ridiculous ugly vacuum cleaner.
Amazing acceleration and lack of sliding on those super cold tires. Well done!
Nice work DC . I'm impressed with your driving but this formula is still not edge of your seat stuff . I do worry that true motorsport is coming to a gradual end. After a few years now I still can't really engage with this screechy electric stuff. This is the true future of formula 1 I believe, but I'm mot sure I like it.😢
Gen 3 evo is really very cool! I have only a little doubt about the nose on the front wing, it look very pointed, can be dangerous during the race?
It will be high revolution, extending thrilling fights unexpected first wins just to say totally 2025 we want it! 🏆🏆🏆🍾🤯
keren
Still sounds like a sewing machine 🧵
F1 sounds like a lawn mower.
"It's super impressive, for F2.5......"
people still underestimate how much humans are connected emotionally to sound.
Its not even just "sound" its hearing the sound from something authentic. Point I am trying to make is these cars could have speakers fitted to give them the classic V10 sound. It wouldn't feel the same as hearing it from the actual v10 cars because you know the sound you are getting/experiencing is from the engine.
@@MarmiteToast2024but then again, exhaust sounds are very designed as well. You can make a normal 1.6 120hp motor sound like its a heavy 450hp machine while all you get is zero to 100kmh in 10 seconds. So when does an engine sound authentic? Only when there is no exhaust at all I suppose.
I'm not anti-EV but it's just the sound. Reminds me of a dentist's drill.
I wonder why nobody is remotely interested in formula E
It's simple, it's electric. Many people don't like EVs in general
Compared to even Formula 2 its just very slow, people like to watch fast racing.
That isn't true at all. It's got more spectators than the average GT or open wheel class
The race format has become too gimmicky.
